This really takes me back to the old days of league man, so many big names who are now just gone, so many memories, league and its infant competitive scene was a beautiful expierence i will never forget.
I played this video on a presentation I did in college about the upcoming esports scene that league was causing, I don't league as much anymore but thinking back to how far esports has come is insane
for everyone claiming, "league of legends is not a sport because its not physical", the word sport comes from old french meaning "amusement or entertainment", so the actual word doesn't limit itself to physical activity. not only that, but the Olympic commitee, which represents one of the oldest sporting competitions in the world, (and I'm sure no one will argue the validity of what the freakin Olympics have to say about sports), recognizes many non physical competitions as "sports", like chess, bridge, billiards etc. plus, there are many sports which require little physical activity, particularly the ones which rely on motorized cars, and horses (equestrian) and the like. but no one questions the validity of these sports because most will agree these things still take skill. well playing league of legends at a pro level takes skill as well. a great deal of it. sure, anyone can play the game, but it takes years of practice and dedication to reach the level that some people play at. and these people work hard, and dedicate a lot of time into this game, and earn a living off of being good at this game. on top of individual mechanical skill and decision making, playing this TEAM game requires extremely fluid communication and team based decision making. id say its as much of a sport as anything else.
@@bornepayne242 You talk like virgin and a fucking nerd. My point is proven. Sitting behind your pc all day doesn't make you an athlete, no matter how hard you want to believe it.
N3tworkkitt3n Hi, Are you planning to make an update video? Choose best clips of this video and add best clips from 2014 and 2015? Maybe at the end of this year? It would be awesome
I think people are missunderstanding two diferent words. One is Athleticism: Characterized by or involving physical activity or exertion. Wich we can discuss if it is or not involved in videogames. The other one, Sport: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. For those saying if debates are a sport: 1) No for entertainment. 2) Doesn´t actually takes skill. 3) Is not a competetition.(you can read the definition of competition) 4)It doesnt involve physical exertion the actual act. You can argue whatever you want but this is what it actually means. Plus games like Chess are in Olympic games already, so before saying some of this is not a sport, you need to get your facts right.(I don´t speak english, is not my main language and I can easily understand the diferent concepts)
You are rigth, but LOL is actually an e-sport, but we want to discuss and that the meaning of sports reconsideration, we're not in the twentieth century
While I was at school, I reached national levels in my country for short distance track and field 100m and 200m. I had a coach that carefully monitored my diet, and made sure I did 2-3 hours of training everyday. In all honesty, since I started LoL and reached high gold, I feel the amount of work to be the best in league is really high up there with the amount of work I would've had to put in if I were to continue track and field. I was born with natural strength and speed, that's what helped me reach the level that I did, but for something like games, I believe everyone starts from square one and has to work themselves to be the best.
I got shivers all up and down my body, this video is amazing. Shows that just because you spend a lot of time on a game, it doesn't go to waste. This video shows the dedication in all the professionals at their level. This game is amazing and it is people like you who help it all the way.
The title doesnt really fit well imo. Either say "League of Legends is not just a game" or say "League of Legends is a sport". Saying it's "just" a sport for an inspirational video doesn't really give the right impression.
Just for the record, A sport is defined as something that uses physical activity, so that's why the term e-sport was created. LoL is an e-sport and there's nothing wrong about that.
Made me tear up a bit being a huge league fan. Passion is the only thing we have and it's beautiful to see different types of people all over the world have the same firey passion in their hearts as them. Can be said about many things but we are LoL lovers so it relates to us. Maybe I have too much empathy xD
Wow.. It has only been a few years, but to see how much everyone has grown in that amount of time is shocking. I still remember staying up all night and into the morning to watch Dreamhack 2011. I remember when the casters were absolutely stunned by the 100k viewers we had for that event. Now we can break 250k viewers on any given weekend and not even bat an eye. I am so thrilled to see the growth of Esports, and I can't wait for the years to come, but just talking a step back and thinking about how far it has come, and how quickly it has happened is so surreal. I hope and pray for the success of all types of Esports, and I regret not trying harder to get in as a player. I hope one day I can push forward and find a place within the scene, but until then I will remain a loyal fan, and cherish all the memories I have made so far. For those who argue that this isn't a sport.. What harm does it bring to you if you consider it a sport? Most of us have absolutely no idea how physically exhausting it can be to compete in these tournaments. I have had the fortune of competing on LAN, and let me tell you. There is no difference in the feelings you get when playing this compared to any other sport. The electricity you feel, and the adrenaline pumping through your veins is the exact same as a Football player feels just seconds before the play starts, or the basketball players reaction as he pulls back to shoot an extremely important free throw. It is so incredibly hard to put into words the amount of energy and effort it takes to go through just one day of events, and some of these players went through 3 days of games. Not to mention all the thousands of hours of practice that lead up to the event. It truly is insulting to see people talk down to the Professional Gamers. They put themselves through so much to achieve there dreams, and they work so much harder then most people do in their everyday lives. I hope we can all grow as a culture and learn to accept that these guys are Professional Athletes. I want everyone to learn and understand that not everyone can do what these guys do. It is not EASY, and it is extremely demanding, both physically and mentally. When you put it on the line in one moment and it decides the entire course of your future.. It is indescribable. I respect what these guys have done, and I will continue to help Esports along as much as I possibly can. If you take one thing away from this just remember. Being a Professional Gamer is extremely difficult. It certainly is fun, and the reason these guys can do it is because they absolutely love what they do, but 99% of the people who try to become a Professional Athlete will fail. This sport is no different. It requires so much strength and will to do what these guys do. Please stop downplaying their achievements because of your own insecurities. Casual gaming is gaming. Just like Playing a pickup game of basketball or whatever sport you choose is still just a game. When you reach the professional level of one of these Esports it truly is a sport just like the rest, and to say anything otherwise is ignorant and incorrect.
Oh man....this is just so amazing, how something with such a small fan-base can become so popular over time and become renowned worldwide as an eSport...both Riot and League of Legends are fantastic and I will continue my support for them until I make my way to the championships myself. At least that is what I am working towards. As a lowly Gold 4 player I am a far way away from being able to compete with the best of the best but I will keep practicing, keep trying until I succeed. There is always room for someone to get better at something and my hope and dream is that I would become good enough to play on that stage. To every player of League of Legends, Good luck and Have fun!
It is a sport: a sport is something you do where people play against each other for fun. Here is an excerpt from a google search of 'sport meaning': an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. "team sports such as soccer and rugby" synonyms: (competitive) game(s), physical recreation, physical activity, physical exercise There is football, rugby, pool, horseriding, swimming, and League of Legends. Don't make yourself look dumb when you don't know what you're talking about.
es mi imaginacion o siempre que pasan un asiatico, no se si esta llorando, riendo, durmiendo o molesto is it my imagination or whenever you pass an Asian, you dont know if he is crying, laughing, sleeping or upset
This video just proves more and more that league is an amazing thing and we all love it. It brings people together and creates memorable moments. I look up to pretty much all the players and people in this video. We should all be trying to come together as a community and get along and grow instead of flaming each other. Regardless of where you live you should do your best to make your community better. Cause at the end of the day like Sky said, 'We're a league family, we should be sticking together not tearing each other down."
This shit made me become an E-sport pro player. I know its very difficult to actually win something or be the best in LOL, but I believe in what I do. And I trust my five teamates that someday we will something. Nothing good luck too all, great video
Dude I LOVE This video, its just so... AMAZING the music is perfect for the video the way it sounds with the happines and fun of the video its just perfect
Following the scene for almost 3 years now just close enough that I can recognize almost everything in this video. It was wonderful, amazing work friend.
I can't completely agree with the title. League of Legends may be a sport but in the end it is so much more than that. From the average gamer to a pro player someone has some story in this game. To the pros this is more than a sport, this is their livelyhood and they want to hold on to this as long as they can. League of Legends brings people together and helps you make memories of the good and bad times playing it. You can call it a game or a sport but in the end just saying that won't do it justice.
I was amused at the fools who want to highlight are commenting whether it is a sport or not, and do not look at the dedication and care of the video, which is to motivate many people to keep playing and maybe someday form a ranked team and cometh to be there, and if it is a sport, e-sport, whatever you want to call, as tournaments, contests are held, and is based on the ability of each team to be working with tactics and strategies game to achieve the best performance for the team.
***** Actually it IS officially recognized as a sport now in the US www.geek(DOT)com/games/us-goverment-confirms-league-of-legends-is-a-legitimate-sport-1562188/
to those of you who still say LoL isn't a sport yet: some friend of mine told me how she was in a bar and it was a LoL live pro game in progress at the TV in that bar (in my country - Romania) so yeah... LoL is becoming even more popular than football(soccer)
***** Chess is sport , the brain is a muscle and chess, league of legends and other games that require you to use your head and think before you act can be considered and are being labeled as sport , and btw atleast in this game you cant use steroids to help you play better...
