Story time: Mount Targon was created as a gateway from the planet of Runeterra to the Celestial Realm above inhabited by gods and cosmic beings known as the Celestials. Each Celestial has a mortal avatar to represent themselves on the planet. Taric(Protection), Zoe(Twilight), Pantheon(War), Diana(Moon) and Leona(Sun) are all aspects of different celestial beings above Mount Targon. In this particular video, a girl who’s a member of the Lunari( Faith allegiant to the Moon) had been captured by the Solari(Faith allegiant to the Sun). However, she meets and falls in love with a young Solari acolyte and the two make a bid for freedom to the top of Mount Targon, being guided by visions the moon has sent the girl of their destiny. Leona being chief of the Solari goes after her, knowing the Lunari are rising to power once more. Diana, the living embodiment of the moon itself is the one who knew about the girl and what was to come of her. The boy and the girl escape to the peak of the mountain and by the grace of the cosmos are granted celestial status as a constellation. It is at this moment Leona and Diana see each other once more. But instead of dueling as the two once swore to do for all time until the truth of their power is revealed, they make a momentary bid for peace as Leona finally realizes the Solari were wrong about the Moon and the Lunari.

The Leona&Diana ship though its cute it is not realistic based on lore. Story time: Diana and Leona were really close as kids and they were both Solari. But one day Diana was blessed by the moon and told that her path was different. Diana saw this as an opportunity to understand her fate because she never felt really in touch with the Solari faith. So one night she tells her secret to Leona and asks her if she wants to escape from Targon with her so she can learn more from it. But Leona saw that as an act of heresy and she literally threatend to kill Diana. Then Diana, really hurt by having to leave her friend behind, left the Solari and joined the Lunari side. Now as adults it seems that Leona feels kind of bad for what happened and actually wants to recover her childhood friend. Diana on the other hand looks less enthusiastic to bond again with her but I think that she still wants to be friends with Leona deep in her heart. Its so sad how their faiths divide them like the couple in the cinematic, I hope they show us more of their relationship. Btw, I love all your reactions and hope to see more of them ❤❤❤

Targon is a region in world of runeterra. It has the highest mountain of runeterra via dated and context Targon is the origin place of the aspects and celestials
Wade is pretty close with his speculation. Like mana explained Targon itself is this section of the world where Mount Targon exists created by the celestials, which are the world's version of gods. Like the day cycle, the celestial of the sun or moon are stronger at different times. Right now it is shifting from a very long age of the sun to that of the moon (no one really knows this but a few Lunari and maybe Leona), and therefore the Solari see the Lunari faith as heretics, so they stay hidden in the mountain. Both Leona and Diana were friends in the Solari tribe until Diana started uncovering the Lunari and learning their ways, this led to them both being chosen to be aspects of the sun and moon celestials respectively. Leona now leads the Solari and Diana is trying to grow and protect the Lunari, and while now they are rivals they still have this mutual care for the other, which is why they decide not to fight at the end of the cinematic.
Okay so someone already explained what aspects are so read his comment but Diana and Leona have history basically Diana was a orphan who was taken in by the solari (leonas tribe) and they tried to force their beliefs that the sun was the only god onto Diana but Diana was always inquisitive and when they couldn’t answer her questions she searched for answers elsewhere and found out that a second sister tribe called the lunari existed and that the solari has lurched them and lied and said they were heratics so Diana went to the top of mount targon to find even more answers but Leona followed her when both of the girls got to the top of the mountain they were hit by light from their perspective god Diana was chosen by the aspect of the moon and Leona was chosen by the aspect of the sun Diana tried to persuade Leona and tried to tell her that the lunari weren’t evil but Leona wouldn’t listen and they fought Diana beat Leona but decided to not kill her she then ran down mount targon and into the solari village and tried to tell them that they could live in peace but when the priests called Diana a heretic she got mad and slaughtered them so now Leona and Diana are enemies but they used to be really really good friends so they don’t want to fight but it’s their destiny
They were ascending; the lovers. Only Diana and Leona know about it because they were ascended before too. Diana and Leona are actually rivals lolz so none of that. So first the Lunari and the Solari. The Solari was like the main religion in Mount Targon and the Lunar was like the underdog religion since since the Solari was more widespread and so since they kinda claimed dominance over religion and think that the religion with the sun is the right one, they shunned the Lunari to hide their practices and beliefs in the shadows and that's why the Lunari is being held in prison if caught. It's an offense, a crime. That being said, it tool these lovers to show them that the two religions can exist alongside each other. Diana and Leona were close when they were young but when they got ascended, everything changed. See being ascended means that you were chosen to be a vessel for the Gods and since Leona is the sun vessel, when Diana(moon vessel) told Leona about the Lunari god being real, Leona attacked Diana(literally) and that's where the rivalry started. If you notice, Diana casted a shield, she was being cautious because their last meeting, Leona striked head on but given that they've witnessed the Ascension with these lovers, they kinda gave each other a pass to not attack and start something in front of their gods. Fun fact: the constellations look like the Galaxy Xayah and Rakan skin

It's not a love story, Diana discovered the lunari history when she was a child and she knew that will be executed for that, decided to tell Leona (Leona was almost like a sister to Diana) and in the first opportunity Leona betray her >:v Leona always will be a coward. Leona knows that the lunari are not bad people but she don't do anything to erase the racism >:v. For the record: I don't know a lot of o English so I hope you understand :3.
Yeah they definitely died there lol no matter how they dress it up he jumped that's why she was able to walk up to ascend with him because the bodies are no more
Guys...not everything needs to be gay. Two women can be friends without things getting romantic....which is what Leona and Diana's story was... The Solari were dogmatic in their religious persecution of the Lunari to the point that they even destroyed the records mentioning Lunari...if you delete them from history, they cease to exist, right? Leona and Diana were best friends since they were infants. But Diana was fascinated with finding out information about the Lunari peoples even though it was a SUPER taboo. When she became the Aspect of the Moon and discovered that the Lunari weren't dead, just in hiding, she confided in Leona about all this. Her life-long best friend shunned her and accused her of being a heretic. The two hate each other now, albeit with a bit of caring for each other due to their many years of friendship...but on the whole, it's not a positive relationship...like at all...
Diana is definitely lesbian, and she and Leona are 100% supposed to be lovers. Riot just can't put it out openly into the lore because of homophobia in some countries like Russia.
@@AppleBaron Not really. There has never been any romantic subtexts in their relation...like ever. They were always JUST friends who became hated enemies. To Leona, Diana is a HERETIC and brought about her exile and branding as a heretic by then entire Solari people. Nothing says "I wanna get in you pants Diana" more than making an entire nation hate and despise you and put out a kill-on-sight order on you, right? ~eye roll~ I don't care about two characters being gay, but stop grasping at straws at every opportunity. Romance isn't an option between Leona and Diana...just accept it. Rather, focus your attention to more LIKELY pairings, like Caitlyn and Vi. I'm pretty sure those two could realistically end up having a romantic relationship. Heck if you're that thirsty for gayness, Ahri's heading to Bilgewater...and we all know what buxom redheaded Captain resides there, no?
@@MarshGlyph Again, writers can't put these ideas openly, because of homophobia. I recommend you to watch youtuber TB Skyen, who has personal connections with many Riot employees. He has lots if stories like this. For example, Varus cinematic was ready for realese all the way in 2015, but Riot were very hesitant to put it out. And even after realese it was not published on Russian youtube channel of League. And in the comic about Varus, Kai and Valmar call each other heartlights instead of lovers or something like that, for the exact same reason. So, no, I'm not grasping at straws, I'm pointing out big problem, that actually exists within Riot Games.
