how to set nvidia settings?

My friend has the same GPU and same(-ish) specs (and is freshly formatted) Intel Core i5 (2nd Gen) 2430M / 2.4 GH RAM 6GB DDR3 (1x4 +1x2) Integrated Graphics: Intel Graphice HD 3000 Dedicated GPU: GeForce GT 540M (not sure about its memory doe) He's running League with 160~ FPS (VSync off so there's tearing), but @ minimal effects he gets 6 FPS. Seems like Intel is permanently blocking NVIDIA (yes we tried disabling the Intel in BIOS / changing the optimal GPU on NVIDIA control panel / right clicking the executable to select GPU to run it with / disabling Intel in device manager, nothing worked) Just came here to check that it's not the NVIDIA that is crappy, too and to make sure it's not being used. Will try the gpu-z that I read in the comments. Thanks for the video though :)

+Black Baron If I don't cap my FPS to 60 FPS I get extreme screen tearing and FPS drops, + on effects it becomes unplayable (YASUO ULT, KINDRED, AHRI ABILITIES etc....) But once I cap the FPS to 60 I got rid of unexplained lags. Lock your FPS to 60 and see if something changes, if not try lowering settings to medium or something .

+friiXa TV Thank you for your answer. This didn't seem to work either. GPU-z shows Intel working its @ss off and NVIDIA being almost idle at low speeds. This must be a settings issue and not a GPU issue. Your video helped me understand that.

Same laptop as you, but only getting 45-70 on LOW i though it was still using the intel HD but i ran gpu-z in the backgroud and the gt540m is high load when in game. reset to factory default and installed latest drivers a week ago, so nothing external is affecting it. HALP MEEE haha

+Raheeco Just wait 1 day and i will be posting a " How to video " a guide to configure your GPU in order to squeeze out the best performance from it :D !! And i think it's going to solve your problem ! Don't forget to subscribe :D If you want to play some matchups and waiting for my tutorial all you have to do is clicking with your right mouse button and choose " Run with graphics processor " then choose NVIDIA GT540M and you're good to go.

Performance definitely improves using WINDOWS 7 (at least for me). I don't know about you, but it's worth a try :p

I have been searching the internet for this. Did it work? I have a old laptop with this gpu and I'm trying to get games running better for my little sister. When it's playing games such as minecraft it doesn't open when trying to use the gpu on windows 10 with all new drivers and when it does allow me to open with any other game I get better fps using the Intel integrated graphics. The card works so I thought must be drivers and tryed all sorts or driver's for it but nothing worked some helped a little like allowing the game to open and others nothing. I am now think to just take it back to windows 7 as that how the laptop originally came from the shop but if it doesn't work I don't want to do that because Microsoft doesn't support windows 7 anymore. What should I do?
