I think the judges comments really affected the votes. I kept waiting for James to sing something amazing like Luthor Vandross. Leah sounds like Macy Gray to me, very unique and beautiful. I think a lot of people don't connect with Ali because she is in that "I'm not here to make friends I'm here to work" mode and it comes off as being cold. Love your reactions!! :D

leah sounds like alessia cara a bit to me. I think it's unfair that we think leah can go to the finale based on 1 episode... we need to see her more to see if she's consistent or if she's just a 1 trick pony. same for ja'ronelle.... that's the part of this show I don't like.

I agree with every thing you guys said except for the comments about Ali. The reason Ali has so many fans is because of her artistry. Take it from me I have been classically trained in music. Its very hard to find someone with a seasoned and mastered tone that Ali has unless you compare her to the likes of Beyonce, Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, which are artists she is most commonly compared to. But being put on the same level as those wemon is an accomplishment in itself because its not everyday when you hear someone with a voice that can compete with those artists. Ali has incredible tone and intonation coupled with the fact that her range is ridiculous. But what truly makes her better than James is her stage presence and the incredible control in her voice. James is rather boring to watch perform. If he didn't have as great of a voice as he has, he would have been voted off a long time ago. Also James relies on his high notes to save his performance. Notice how in your own reaction he truly only excited you when he hit them high notes in falsetto. Whereas Ali excites everyone from the moment she opens her mouth. Also you can really tell when Ali switches to falsetto because her falsetto is so strong and rings so pure through the room. This is quite remarkable because in my studies I've found that wemon do not normally show a grand difference between head voice and falsetto because they tend to have typically high tone as it is. So the fact that Ali is able to show the major difference between her head voice and chest voice shows that she has remarkable control on her voice that not every artist has. I'm not knocking James' voice because he definitely can sing but Ali definitely has more artistry than James. Plus all the judges believe the same and her performances have been on top in iTunes so obviously she is already faring well with the people.

If James would have sang the same song, he would have done just as good or better. He did something different because they told him to and when he did, they totally went against him. Leah was great but James has been just as good with his other songs. If you really listen close to her, she was off key and wasn't flawless. She got lucky because she picked a good song. James deserved the long haul and this just sucks.
