That 66 piece set is great because all the sockets are 6 point in the 3/8, not 12 point. They have held up fine for 2 years now and I paid $39.99 for the set, with a coupon.

It makes no sense because if you break one, they'll open a whole new set to get you a replacement, but they won't stock singles. I'm sure they've done the math and are probably making enough overhead that taking a few bucks off and putting the incomplete set on Open Box is more than worth it to keep a customer.

Last winter I bought a new Craftsman snow blower from Lowe's. It was supposed to have been per-assembled, but it wasn't. The guys in the store were willing to put it together, which was very nice, at least until the store manager wanted them to do something else. I asked them if they had some tools I could use, they said yes and opened a new Kobalt ratchet & socket set. The sockets fit nicely onto the nuts & bolts as expected, but the ratchet kept slipping out of it's direction setting, which was VERY annoying. I love the 24v line of power tools, which are GREAT, but you won't catch me spending money on their hand tools. That Quinn 428 piece set does look VERY interesting.

Quinn also reminds me of the Duralast brand sockets and ratchets from AutoZone as they share almost identical etchings/markings. Another Hercules tool I'm looking forward to is their cordless 1/2in impact wrench that's supposed to match or beat the current Earthquake XT model.

I'd need to look really carefully at the Quinn socket set. Because if you buy them individually (size packs) they are no skip in the sizes for both Metric and SAE. I think it's the same with the wrenches. But oftentimes, when they do a larger tool kit they skip sizes. (I'm looking at you ICON)

Think that second price is compared to the Husky's 432pc set for around 449(a lot of the prices with HD is based on location). As for this set; think you're correct that it might be an offshoot of Kobalt. After doing a little math (compared to Kobalt's 300pc for around 250), both came out to be 82-83 cents per tool.

dude don't get that thing. it'll work, don't get me wrong. i went with a more portable option. i've always changed tires on everything i own unless getting a new set or something. often times it'll be a second hand set and i put them on myself. you should look at something similar to the esco 70160. i bought the knock off on ebay lol. that just breaks beads but that's the hardest part i think. personally, i'm fine using other basic tools to actually remove the tire from the rim. they do sell spoons for that but the cheap $10 harbor freight pry bar set also works if you do mind nicking the paint. my brother actually has that tire changer and barrowed my bead breaker when he bent the bead breaker on it. 35" tires is a bit much to ask of it. he was surprised by how well the esco knock off worked. i've used it on 6" mower tires on the front of my mower and so far up to 16" tires on my 3/4 ton truck. it's not been strained but the mower tires were kind of a tight squeeze. if you just need a mower tire broken down though you can probably poor some gas on the bead and give it a few to soak in and knock it loose with a big hammer and a crowbar. then just pry it off.. more advise, it's got slime in it, get it cleaned good before putting a tube in it. it'll shoot out the dry rot while popping the bead back with air if you don't. ask me how i know lol.

@@blueovalfan23 Well I did purchase the HF Mini Tire Changer. So far it has worked as advertised. I don't do a lot of small tire changing but like to be able to do things for myself.

Dear Bear! The Master Technician Tool Set from Harbor Freight has a great Black Friday deal, for only $329.99 for members. I purchased the Kobalt "mechanic tool set" this past year, only to be saddened at the fact that it doesn't come with a complete set of sockets. it only came with 3 of 3/8 deep sockets for metric and sae. I am considering purchasing this Quinn set, however, I am skeptical at the quality of production...durability, mostly. I am on the fence on this one. Some of the previous commentators bring valid points, from comparing it to "duralast," to the point of individual piece replacements, and that this issue might be a bigger hassle than the deal on the tools. New Fan, recently subscribed, I enjoy your videos, keep up the fantastic work.

Because you can only put so many hammers in a tool set....lol after that it's adjustable wrenches and chisels

"I know we're looking for more cordless." Not me. I'm sick of throwing barely used tools away because the price point on their replacement battery suggests a complete tool replacement.

Doesn't Apex make alot of the Husky hand tools also? Some is the same as Gearwrench

Apex makes the majority of Husky mechanics tools. Apex's SATA line is basically identical to the stuff they make for Husky. They also get some tools from Great Star (usually xmas stuff like those black ratcheting wrenches they had a few years ago). But the vast majority is from Apex. Not sure where bear is getting Apex makes Kobalt though. Most of the Kobalt mechanics tools are made by Great Star (huge Chinese OEM). If you look at GS' Duratech line, it is basically the same stuff they are selling to Lowes for Kobalt. Apex might supply some stuff to Lowes but for mechanics tools, the main supplier is GS. Kind of the opposite of HD. Great Star was also recently making sets for SEARS Craftsman (not to be confused with SBD Craftsman, other than name they are completely unrelated) as well. Not sure if they still are (Sears has a habit of not paying their bills lately, go figure). They are Work Pro (a Great Star brand) sets that they just re-badged Craftsman for Sears.

I've had a 301 piece set from Harbor Freight Tools for many years for my vehicles and they've held up really well I do a lot of work on my vehicle and I have friends that I help them with their vehicle the 301 piece set from Harbor Freight Tools the sockets and a very good quality actually I've had no problems with any sockets breaking only the quarter inch ratchet and the wrenches are very low-quality only great toolset but needs better and more ranches in it better quality wrenches in that set but overall all the sockets extensions are great in the 301 piece set is great for the car I've never had a socket break I've only had one quarter inch drive ratchet to break it's a good set for the price
