Hey Francis! Just wanted to say I really appreciate your videos. I've always watched Pin, but I came across your channel a few weeks ago and I really like your enthusiasm. Sure way to make learner drivers feel more comfortable. I hope I can do a mock test with you one day!
Retired DVSA Driving Examiner: Leanne only committed one serious after watching her video 'USE OF SPEED' where she drove a considerable distance on a 20mph road. Regarding the 'REVERSE ON THE RIGHT' exercise, you told her to reverse for two cars length however, you allowed her to reverse well beyond two cars lengths and she only mounted the edge of the kerb momentarily which is a 'driver fault'. Leanne drove safely in applying the footbrake after seeing the HGV driver crossing their give way lines at the junction on the left. I believe she will pass her driving test tomorrow.
Wow cool, retired examiner eh? thanks Lee! I guess it’s down to individual judgement then! I’ve had tests fail for the kerb issue in the past. And I deemed the braking for the Lorry unsafe as there was a car behind and she braked suddenly even after the lorry was clearly stopping.
Hello Francis! I just watch this video today, 2 years later. I hope Leanne is among us on the road, because she really deserves it. When I was a 17 years old learner at 1987 in Hungary, I've got only 6 lessons from my teacher, altogether about 9 hours. I have never driven before, because we hadn't got a car, but I used my father's mopeds, so I was familiar with the gas, clutch, breaks, etc. My skills was worse than Leanne had, but I wasn't too bad. My teacher just mentioned will be a examine few days later, so he thought, I can try it. If I fail, we can continue the lessons. He said the best words, what I had to hear: I cannot teach you drive properly, the LIFE will do that! It was an easy examine for me, so I passed!!! After these years my first accident was just in Liverpool, when I became a private hire taxi driver 30 years later, and it was more my fault, but I could avoid that. The only problem was, I trusted the driver in front me when we were turning into the huge roundabout, but she decided to stop meanwhile I watched the incoming traffic, what was far away and moved into her car without break. From that point I always watch the car in front of me instead of anything else! So yes, the driving licence is just the first step. I understand the lorry situation in this video, but for me it was a question mark as well. It was a little bend there, so the lorry wanted to move a little bit over the line. Leanne's breaking reaction is acceptable, but YES, it was a little bit to much and it was misleading the drivers behind you, BUT that is the life! My last accident was in same situation, that's why I mention this case. I was on the main road, driving 37 mph on a 40 mph road, when somebody just came out from a side road. I saw that, but I was on the main road, so I didn't do anything. The lady DIDN'T stop, hit me at the drivers side back door, so I just spin around in 270 degrees. It wasn't my fault, but I had to scrap my taxi. So it is always a chance for an accident even you do the right thing, or the careful drive. From that time I try to watch always these cars, but I rather push my car towards the middle of the road to avoid it. But we never know ...
My driving test is in 2 weeks. I failed my first one because I was too busy panicking trying to determine what lane I needed to be in for an approaching roundabout, and I didn't realise that my indicator was still flashing, which the examiner failed me for. But hopefully I'm 2nd time lucky. I feel confident at times, but then I make small mistakes on my lessons and it knocks that confidence, as I for some reason feel as though I should be a perfect driver now. I need to remember that I need to focus on being safe, and not perfect.
Thank you for your videos they helped me a lot i passed today with 0 minors for the first time! i can’t believe it i am so happyyyyyy! good luck everyone!
@@vibzp i still can’t believe it but trust me its possible you just need to calm down and take it easy ,It is the most important coz when you are stressed you make more mistakes! trust yourself! when i parked and he told me i passed with no minors i was shocked coz during driving there were few situations where i thought i would fail or i did something wrong but continued like nothing happened sometimes when we think we make mistakes its just nothing to worry about so if anyone feels same just continue and don’t stress! checking mirrors is essential as well i did see he was looking in my eyes when and how i would check them and finally i convinced myself i was alone there and just wanted to drive safe! i hope it helps ♥️
I've got my driving test in a few hours (10/05/21) aaaaand honestly this video is very helpful with small things we might forget ! GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE AND AAAAAAAAA ✅☠️✊🏼
@@DrivingSchoolTV SO: I failed. I'm so mad. Basically what happened was i was instantly on a dual carriageway 40mph. Doing all good following the SAT NAV and it told me to 'bare left' and so i did but THEN wanted me to take the 4th exit on the following roundabout. Couldn't get in the right lane so i chose to stay left. It threw me off so much that i didn't look to my right for oncoming vehicles and he had to intervene. Instant fail. Very annoyed. But i understand why. Keep composed no matter what guys 🥲
Got my test on the 19th of May. I am sh*tting myself…also since my last two driving instructors I had dumped me (lost patience with me shouting and swearing and sh*t). Was quite traumatising and it really knocked my confidence. 😳 It’s really not easy to find the right instructor. I should have had him maybe. Francis seems cool. Good videos. God bless.
This video is really good because you can see roughly at what mph the gears are changed regularly and this helps you if you're a beginner. Also this is a great vid for you learn off. Great vid, great teacher Francis. Happy new for 2023. God bless and wishing you much success and happiness for the future.
Oh no, I thought she did really well reversing then she kept going and went on to the pavement 😭 Sidenote: She did exceptionally well for someone who only has 3 driving instructor lessons under her belt.
Good luck... I was just watching your video of reverse bay parking and I like the idea of counting bays. I have just done it at Merton college Park and its working 👋
Hey Francis. Another great video but have to disagree slightly with the use of indicators. I agree when you say that overtaking the bus near a junction could be misleading to signal right, but otherwise I think it’s always good to confirm what you’re doing with a signal.
Your tell that they have done well at something that you thought may have been difficult for them or something they may have been unable to execute is, your head nod and a smile. Dead give away lol.
Man I got a test coming up soon in Atlanta Georgia I hope I pass i been looking at alot of videos on RU-vid but you got some good stuff here buddy and I am super nervous I hope I do good 👍 🙏💯
I’m always told that stalling is not a minor fault, as long as you recover safely and don’t affect other drivers. You gave her 2 faults already for stalling enough though she recovered well.
I have my test tomorrow - So nervous :< I know im a good driver, i know to check my mirrors before doing ANYTHING and doing it often, good junction observations and all of that - but i feel my nerves will get the best of me.
Just try to get some sleep, a good breakfast and remember that YOU CAN DRIVE! If you couldn't your instructor wouldn't put you in for a test. But also remember that if it doesn't go to plan it's not the end of the world and you will be even more ready for the next one. PLEASE let us know how you get on!!!
I think going past stationary objects/ vehicles is not overtaking. No indication required but mirror checks before going past and mirror checks when getting back inline. That's my 2 cents. Good night all.
Hey, will you be doing any mock tests in the Sidcup area? I’ve got my test in 4 weeks and would really like to see one of these videos in that area!! I’ve been watching your videos religiously and it’s helping so much!! Thank you ❤️
@@Cowgirl_Kiwi no I failed 😂 it was one of the hardest routes in my opinion, I’ve since done one in gillingham and it was so much better there!! I failed though with 0 minors and 1 major for hesitation 😴😴
@@beckytolhurst6502 which way did you have to go? I’m most anxious about Crittal’s corner tbh. I’ve practised it a lot with my instructor but one of the entrances when you come from Ruxley manor confuses me where you keep right and have to get in the right lane 😂
- At The Roundabout Where She Was Heading Towards Lewisham, You Said She Was In The Wrong Lane But The Exit Has Two Lanes. So If Exited The Lane She Entered The Roundabout In It Would've Been Marked Down Only Because The Right Lane Is Used For Overtaking And Examiners Prefer You In The Left?
Hi Francis, if your going straight ahead at a mini roundabout with 4 exits and signal after the first exit can you get a minor fault for that if you continuously do it?
Looool 😂🤦♂️. They will pull you over and tell you that if you don’t complete the route you won’t be able to complete all the elements you are required to be tested on and they will cancel your test. It’s ok to go the wrong way but only by accident you can’t take the piss with it lol
I sometimes suggest this but don’t tell anyone 😉 You’re better off just being excellent at driving and able to do everything required of the basic L test 😊
Yah for sure I’d only suggest it if there’s a problem with hitting the wrong gear. But that’s my teaching style. If you like your instructor just go with it but if Not you wouldn’t keep going back to a salon that didn’t cut your hair how you wanted it, might be time to look for a change😉
@@DrivingSchoolTV 100%, we had a disagreement today on what felt more comfortable for me and she said that I need to do it her way, hence why I came here to check on it. Jealous of your customers haha
Not at all you just have to be at a first gear speed or intend to be at a first gear speed when you lift the clutch 😊 you might be on your first or second lesson though so go with how your instructor teaches until you start doing junctions more quickly . Hope that helps!
