Contest the center with this easy to learn and effective chess opening repertoire against 1. d4. The repertoire includes the Swedish variation of the Tarrasch defense coupled with early ..c5 moves against the london system, colle system and other d-pawn specials.
A viewer contacted me requesting a black repertoire that can be learned in 10 minutes. I took my best shot at it. My plan is to come up with the best repertoire I can against 1. e4 and 1. d4 that can be learned in 10 minutes.

Looks nice. Do you have an e4/d4 defense that uses the Scandinavian and another related opening?

Here is on on the Scandi in 15 minutes (a different format): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iSHeDir4ClI.html I don't have anything really short on the slav - I couldn't think of a way to shorten it that much without compromising results..

What do you think about the hippopotamus as black? It seems to be quite minimalist, which is in line with your philosophy. I'm rated about 1700 on lichess. I am considering the hippo or the Dutch. You have a great channel, BTW!

Thanks! I'm certainly not an expert on the hippo (or anything in chess for that matter), so take this with a grain of salt.. The way I had the hippo explained to me by a titled player when I was right around your rating (and also thinking of playing it like yourself) is that while it i slikely sound enough and avoids having to know any opening theory at all, you have to face so many different approaches by your opponent. When your opponents are impatient and try to punish the hippo it works really well, but as you rise up the ranks, your opponents will play more patiently and that is the key to posing real problems to the hippo. They will refrain from giving you any breaks or counterplay until they have their pieces on the ideal squares. Another downfall of the hippo for the improving player is that you don't get enough reps in any specific position type to build up intuition about how to play those positions. I would suggest going with the dutch if you have an interest in it. I have had good luck with the dutch. You could start with the classical dutch and add on the stonewall at some point. It will help you build attacking skills. The dutch pairs extremely well with the french. There is some overlap of ideas (such as the bishop dance of the locked in light squared bishop - Bf1-e2-d1 and out along the d1-a4 diagonal). There is also the advantage of playing 1..e6 against 1. d4 and sidestepping all the anti-dutch crap. One thing you will find is that the dutch will score very well up to a fairly decent level (maybe 2100+ lichess) because players will not play the testing lines against the dutch. They will often play an early Nc3 allowing you to play the Bb4 and enter a nimzo dutch (easy to play for black and good!). Also, they will often not fianchetto on the kingside and you can play ..b6 and Bb7 and really clamp down on e4 (white's strategy usually revolves around trying get in the e4 break). Here is dojoliga game where I was able to use both of these: www.chess.com/game/live/60135616565 I would say go with the dutch!
