Truly God's gift my son is going on 8 and a half yrs clean from stage 4 medulloblastoma brain cancer and after everything failed him from their poison chemo and targeted radiation even stem cell transplant I had an uncle tell me about chaga, so I gave it to him thick and heavy for a month and a half and he was completely clean brain and spine and now I make a tincture called Triple Tree of Life inspired to me from our lord and savior The Father The Son And The Holy Spirit ❤️ God bless Everyone and long live The King of all Medicinal Mushrooms

I bought a bag of chaga chunks. What I do with them is grind them up in a blender into a course ground up state. Then I put that into a spice grinder and grind it into a fine talcum-like powder. Then I boil a portion in water to make a thick tea with the chaga suspended in it so it is more like cocoa where cocoa powder is added to water producing a thicker consistency than tea. Then I add milk and some honey. The result is like a chaga version of hot cocoa -- but with chaga powder instead of cocoa powder. I also put this in the fridge and drink it cold. It is really delicious and I like the idea that I am consuming the chaga in its entirety.

Like all farming,,, Farmed Chaga,, it has been shown (scientific studies) to be of 70% less beneficial as wild Chaga. The main key with Chaga is the environment that it is grown in. The harsher the weather,, the more potent the Chaga!
@grantlauzon1985
@grantlauzon1985 3 года назад
Most research papers that refer to farmed chaga are referring to chaga grown in a control environment like a fermentation vat or a sterilized bag of sawdust. As you correctly pointed out, that type of chaga just can't compared to wild grown chaga. Farming chaga by inoculating a living tree is not well known at the moment. However, this method of farming allows it to become just as potent as wild chaga.
@kennoseworthy6473
@kennoseworthy6473 3 года назад
@@grantlauzon1985 I have tried the Inoculation thing on wild birch. I inoculated 8 trees, 4 years ago. I check on them 1 year ago. So really when I looked at them it was only 3 years with the inoculation. No sign of Chaga yet! I chose trees with wet feet to help encourage the Chaga to "take". Of course I don't expect to see a fruiting body for at least 10 years and as far as I know there is no other sign to watch for. I do know that a wild Chaga birch will look different than a non chaga birch. A Chaga birch almost always looks sickly,, as in reduced leaf load.
@timothylongmore7325

Hey Ken , what part of the chaga did you use? The guy interviewed did'nt explain very well. I'm sure you'd need to be deep enough in to have a good ammount of mycillium in the sample. I usually cut the conk when harvesting and don't see any mycillium usually. It's only when I bust them off and go right down to the wood that I see anything that looks alive. Just wondering I'd like to give it a try.

@@timothylongmore7325 Hi. I use the entire mass. I sometimes save a small amount of the Exterior black rind for a good strong tea. But I simmer 1/2 lb in RO water for 6hrs and more. Utube will say 4 is good but whatever works for each. The chunks are "first knuckle size" and consists of all parts of the mushroom. When it cools I decant it and seal it in a pop-top bottle. I then use 2oz in a mug with hot water and honey. Good for what ails ya! :)
@timothylongmore7325
@timothylongmore7325 Год назад
@@kennoseworthy6473 thanks for the reply Ken. What I meant was what part of the sclerotuim did you use for your inoculation. Just a general slice or like a core of live mycillium? I have access to a small tree with a conk and I wondered about coring or cut the log into slices.

Chaga has any side effects since high oxalate that might be causing kidney stone??
@djbradles
@djbradles 3 года назад
Yes, it is very high in oxalates which will by itself be filtered through your kidneys. The way to circumvent the high oxalic acid content which does have a chance of forming kidney stones is by adding calcium as an addendum. So when you brew your chaga tea simply add some milk or cream. This calcium will bind to the oxalic acid to be excreted through the digestive system rather than the urinary system.

Does chaga powder lose its potency or go bad after a year? I drank two cups of tea, powder boiled for 10 minutes to extract all the stuff... and it gave me some serious stomach upset... MIGHT be unrelated... but... ???
@grantlauzon1985
@grantlauzon1985 4 года назад
Making tea from chaga powder is kind of yucky. It comes out tasting like mud because of all the sediment. It you made it strong enough it could cause upset if you have a sensitive stomach. To clean up the sediment (and greatly improve the flavour), you need to leave it in the fridge for several days so it can settle out. As for chaga going bad, that doesn't happen. (Unless it was wet and got moldy). Old chaga just starts to get weaker. But it takes a long time for that to happen. It doesn't bother me to drink 5 year old chaga. (Although I still prefer it fresh)

@KonradTamas

Controlled spreading and harvesting seems like farming to me. Only in another style.
@steveallen984
@steveallen984 Год назад
First the tree has to die for the fungus to realize it needs to grow a fruiting body that releases spores which spread and keep it's life cycle growing then technically his method of propagation he mentioned is more of a cloning/grafting method of propagation. But then yes you could in a sense farm it by either allowing it to kill the tree and thus growing and releasing spores which you could spawn into a new tree OR you could just sacrifice a tree in which it cuts off the tree producing sugars and saps so it would go right into the cycle of growing spores and I supposed as it's drying out it would then contain the spores that you can use to inoculate new trees which by definition is farming since you've created it's seed which probably would stay viable for a long time until the spores find a suitable host

So is he saying that an alcohol extraction is useless? I just soaked 2L of chaga in vodka lol ugh.
@grantlauzon1985
@grantlauzon1985 4 года назад
With some mushrooms alcohol extraction is necessary because the medicinal components are more thoroughly extracted with alcohol. Examples of that would be red reishi and lions mane. However, with chaga, using alcohol doesn't make it more medicinal and even makes it a little less medicinal because it becomes a harder to extract the water soluble antioxidants. Chaga's antioxidants is one of it's most significant medicinal components.
@Pierced777
@Pierced777 4 года назад
@@grantlauzon1985 double extraction solves that no?
@grantlauzon1985
@grantlauzon1985 4 года назад
@@Pierced777 That depends on how double extraction is done. If you extract using water mixed with alcohol then no, it doesn't help at all. However, if you do a complete water extract and then do a separate alcohol extract then that would work well. A better way is to use fresh chaga to do a straight water extraction because many (or perhaps all) of the alcohol components are extracted as colloidal suspensions (which also happen to be more bio-available). With dried chaga these colloidal suspensions collapse and you would have to use alcohol to extract them. But generally, the science tells us it's not optimal to use alcohol to extract chaga.
@timothylongmore7325
@timothylongmore7325 4 года назад
I've read that the constituients extracted with alcohol are different than hot water and equally beneficial. David wolfes book, chaga, quote an email from Paul Stamets
@grantlauzon1985
@grantlauzon1985 4 года назад
@@timothylongmore7325 There's a lot of overlap with chaga extracts made using just water or just alcohol. In fact, with chaga, water will extract about 90% of what alcohol will extract, and alcohol will extract about 50% of what water will extract. The extra tiny bit that can only be extracted using alcohol is the terpenes (ie betulinic acid) Interestingly, it's more cost effective to acquire betulinic acid by to sticking a piece of birch bark in vodka and having a shot glass of every night. It's important to mention however that even though betulinic acid is soluble in alcohol it's just barely so. A mickey of vodka will only dissolve about 1200 mg. You'd need to drink a lot more vodka then you've been lead to believe if you wanted a therapeutic dose of betulinic acid. A few drops won't do it. Also, once an alcohol extract has been dehydrated the betulinic acid becomes bio-unavailable again and you might as well just chew on birch bark. However, if you make your extract using fresh chaga, the evidence is suggesting that betulinic acid can be extracted using just water. It also seems to retain much of it's bio-availability after dehydration. I don't believe alcohol is necessary if using fresh chaga in conjunction with a soxhlet extraction process. However, if you're going to steep dried chaga in vodka you should brew the heck out of it with water first before doing vodka. Otherwise you're making your chaga LESS potent by making it harder to extract the beta glucans.
