I am from Bulgaria and I've been to Lebanon to work there in 1994 and I only remember a few words. My grandmother would know how to ask for a dress though - in her village they use a word "fusta" which is similar to "fostan" :-)

Shoukran Hiiba! Very useful words, I can't wait to go shopping on 7amra! Another phrase I know for bargaining is "koun kareem" - it means be generous, if I recall correctly!

Very good that you try to create the situation. You should, though make it shorter. You need to put all the sentences that you had explained at home in a full dialogue in the shop.

Thanks for your lessons on Levantine Arabic, difficult to find on Internet and namely on YT. Please can you also post some idioms typical of Lebanese (or Levantine: I mean Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Palestine) Arabic, explaining the situation on where to use it (just not to make bad mistakes...)? It would add a touch of real life to the studying. Thanks so much

hello, please don't be worried, now has nothing to do with 2006. back then we had terrible war but now it's nothing.. they closed the road few times for few hours and now there's nothing.. of course in some regions like Tripoli there are problems but you don't need to go there... come and enjoy your time... Lebanese people get afraid quickly because of the war we lived.. so i understand them but seriously we are living normaly and enjoying the summer time :) good luck!

hello, i understand your family saying that because yes sometimes there's problems like closing the airport road for few hours.. the situation in Syria is effecting us in some regions.. but i can tell you that it depends on where do you live... i think there's no problems in Zahle but sure your family know more..i live in Beirut so im far.. for me i say you can come nothing serious.. but i understand your parents worries.. so good luck! :) if you dont come tomorrow you should come soon

hello. i will try to help. my background is lebanese and i am born and living in usa. for me i would say haydolik would translate to "those ones" for example "those ones are more expensive" (haydolik aghla) or "those ones are vintage" (haydolik vintage)
