I read an exercise some time ago slightly similar to this with practicing arpeggios that only ever appeared to be a warm up exercise. This now puts all that into context and all of a sudden I'm finding licks & turnarounds and I'm starting to see improvising ideas. And I'm not an improviser by any measure! What a genuinely great lesson. Thank you so much for this Wayne and thank you for all you're doing for our amazing Mandolin community

Thx so much for the comment Martin! Check out my Improvisational Roadmap video if you haven't already studied it. It could really help you apply this concept along with other fretboard fundamentals that you're comfortable with.

Thank you so much. This is a great exercise. Using it everyday and it is helping. My fingers are doing thigs they couldn't do a week ago. Don't know those bits of language you refer too, but want to learn.. Again thanks.

Outstanding!! I love topics like this that allows to move around the fretboard and apply to every chord. The fretboard just opens up. Thank you so much Wayne!!

Thx Michael! Those certainly were fun recordings to be a part of. Tucker was on Bluegrass 96, number two in the series.

This is a great exercise for practicing arpeggios! Also, the shift is important. When you shift to the play the second octave starting with your index finger. That makes is much more flexible and more natural to play.

Wayne, this lesson is the perfect partner to your enclosures video. Both of those videos are in my required watching for my daily serving of mando meat and potatoes. I had started applying enclosures all over the neck and in all 12 keys, then you came out with this video and it has been mind expanding. Your content is killer! Thanks for doing this!

This is a great lesson . I was playing around with it and realised that it's used in a tune I recently learned . The Golden Eagle hornpipe. Really appreciate all your super helpful content . Thanks so much Wayne
