I really don't get Danish writing. Why write 'dig' when you say 'dei'? As the latter makes sense to me. Frisians know 'dei' as 'you'. And 'hej'... It's pronounced as 'hai' so why not write it as such? Or 'goddag'. 'Goddei' (good day) makes more sense. Also, the 'd' is not pronounced in 'god' (good) so why write it down? 'Godmorgen' literally transcribes in: 'gomo'en' so why not write it like that?
@monsDK
@monsDK Год назад
@@RudydeGroot in dig is a flat j,g sound and the same in goddag and in prober danish "if you learned long time ago" words are pronounced in full. newer Danish like many other linguistics that keep snapping words shorter, forgetting the real spoken words and meanings.

It relates to many European languages as well. For example, in English we do not pronounce the "b" in the word "debt" but we write it down. Other examples can be island (where "s" is unvoiced)/receipt (where "p" is unvoiced), aisle ("s" is not pronounced) and so on, but we still use them when spelling, right? It is not as easy as it looks like to rewrite the history of the whole language.

I am more or less fluent in Danish having come from USA many many years ago. I live in Denmark. I can carry on conversing in Danish all the time if necessary. Danish is a very difficult language for foreigners to learn. I had Danish classes three and a half days per week, four hours per day for three days, plus the half day of two hours, and this was for three years, plus homework. Learning Danish is, however, an ongoing lifelong process and I would say I have only become more comfortable and confident as a Danish speaker in the last five years. Hvis du tror at du kan lære dansk i tre minutter, så har du en urealistisk og falsk forventning, og jeg mener at det er simpelthen latterlig!

I came to this video after learning Danish for 2 months all by myself and I'm not as confused with pronunciation because I'm already a little bit used to it but I'd say that this is definitely not a good lesson for someone who's trying to learn Danish from scratch because it's just a pile of sounds at this point. Although as a person whose first language has a complicated grammar and lots of confusing rules Danish feels like a pretty easy language to learn

And you might want to add "Jeg vil gerne bede om..." (I would like to kindly ask for.../please) if you want to be polite.
