This is pretty good. Who did the Esperanto? Will there be a part 2? A few small concerns... "Kio okazas?" isn't really a greeting. Words like bonfarti, franda, and rimeno are real words in Esperanto, but they're not common and wouldn't be used as they are presented here. Better would be bone farti, bongusta, and zono. (I have a t-shirt with the word "frandu" on it, and people constantly ask me what it means, even fairly fluent speakers.) I noticed a small mistake in "mi havas tridek jarojn" (it needs to be a lower case J). The word "infanino" stands out to me as a clear mistake. It's about like saying "A girl child" in English. If you need to specify whether an *infano* is male or female, say "knabo" or "knabino". It's very cool to see Esperanto on your site.

In fact, "infanino" is a valid (logically-formed), not-so-uncommon word, that even appears in PIV and was used by Zamenhof. It's no mistake at all.
@EsperantoVarietyShow
@EsperantoVarietyShow 4 года назад
@@materialknight - As I said above, it's a "clear mistake" - and about like saying "a girl child" in English. It's true that "a girl child" is logically formed, and not "so" uncommon, depending on how you define "common" -- but teaching "girl child" as the normal way to say "girl" in English would be a mistake too.

Are there any English monoglots around that has mastered this language without any background in other romantic languages? If so how long did it take you to master Esperanto? I genuinely want to know. I've heard others saying this was easy but that's mostly from polyglots. Can someone tell me? 😟

I started learning Esperanto about 10 years ago, so I'd say I'm pretty fluent at this point. Before that I only knew English and a tiny bit of Japanese. After studying for a couple of months I was able to hold fairly complicated conversations and would occasionally find myself thinking in it. I've never seriously studied a romance language before, but because of my comprehension of Esperanto I often understand things in French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, etc (especially if I'm reading it). So yeah, it's definitely easier than other languages and can be very helpful in learning others!

I found out about this language in early 2018. I purchased a smart TV for Black Friday 2017. One day I was surfing the built in apps and found one called "Muzaiko" (app no longer works). I opened it thinking that it was just another music app and wanted to check it out. That's when I found the entire app was in Esperanto (unknown to me at the time) and I had no idea what it was about, then at the bottom I saw something about it being Esperanta radio so I Googled it. I read so much conflicting information at the time that I actually got curious. I read "It's a language you can learn in 3 months!" and "No, you can't learn a language in 3 months". Eons ago in High School I attempted Spanish but failed miserably and I never thought learning a language was in the cards for me. I never gave language learning another thought after that. Then I told my coworkers about it and said "Heck, I'll try it. I just want to see if it's possible." 3 months later I turned to them and said: "mi ne scias, sed mi suspektas ke mi estas lernanata alia lingvo." Just kidding. I said to them: "Well you can't learn the whole language in 3 months, but you can learn all the grammar, the table of correlatives and a $#!T ton of vocabulary." Plus the internal movement within the Esperanto community is awesome and completely worth the entire experience. Only a little further along at 6 months I dreamed in Esperanto. Everything made perfect sense and it freaked me the hell out. It actually woke me up! Now at about 2.5 years there isn't much I don't understand. Usually it's localized words that give me issue, or some Chinese speakers. Chinese radio can be sometimes hard to understand due to the way they use tonal cues differently than my native English. There is also a hidden benefit in that it skyrockets your confidence levels. As I mentioned earlier, after failing to learn more than 1-10 and asking for the bathroom in Spanish in HS, I never considered even trying to learn a language again. But now after becoming fluent enough in Esperanto, I am now considering both German and Latin American Spanish.

@@chrissparrow395 that's an awesome story!!! I will keep at it then!!! No hate to anyone who is a polyglot but after a while i began to feel that i should study a romance language before Esperanto. I decided not currently.....and definitely understand more than I did before!!!!! 😊

I'm not saying Esperanto is not cool, but people sometimes exaggerate. Can one learn Esperanto in 5 days? Sure, but not like this and you will need two months to process all the info. Take real classes from a real teacher who explains the korelativoj, the prefixes and suffixes. We don't want people to think that kokaĵo is a living animal. Too many think tiuj is equivalent to *these*, when in reality it means *those*. "this/these" translates to *ĉi tiu(j)* rimeno is any kind of strap, not necessarily around your waist frandi is eating stuff (candy for instance) just because you like the taste bonfarti means doing well financially I'm not going to watch the rest today

Mmmm no sense on What you say; or you haven’t deepen on the study and analysis of Speranto at all. Actually Speranto has no exceptions as in any other language. That’s one of the greatest features of it. As per gender just add -Ino to turn any masculine noun into a feminine noun. And that’s it! Odd punctuation? At least they are consistent, and follow very simple rules. To create an antonym just add the MAL- prefix. And that’s it! My mother language is Spanish; and I also speak French, Italian, English. I also know your language and basic modern Greek as well; So having enough background to affirm that no language is easier than Esperanto, overall having Romance languages background and knowing some Germanic languages too. Is it difficult to you? There are no shortcuts to any language. You must study hard my friend, as you did it with English.
