@@dh216832 The AWD extended has been a surprisingly big seller! Ah I saw that recall as well.. Luckily it's just a few subframe bolts so if your build is already done it'll just be a re-torque to the proper specs!
Great walk-through! When I use the "valet" mode on my Mach-E, it's different than what you show. It generates a random temporary 8 digit code that looks like this: 12345-678 ... and instructions to use the first 5 digits to unlock the door, and all 8 digits to start the car. It also sends the same code to the Ford Pass app and also an email to the owner -- if the valet didn't write down the codes after parking the car, you can remind them of the codes using your phone. No need to give the valet your only key-fob ... which is great!
Thanks so much Tim! You have me scratching my head a bit but the difference sounds like it's probably coming from you having the Ford Pass app synced to your Mach-E. I'm going to add this to the list of things to cover off on the next update I do for the car How are you enjoying the Mach-E so far? Is it your first electric?
@@CarsWithSteve It is my first all-electric (I've owned hybrids but nothing even close to this). I've had mine just about a month now ... LOVE the car!
@@CarsWithSteve I wanted an all-electric car in the SUV/CUV size range. That mostly made me look at Tesla (e.g. Model Y). While I admire what Tesla has done, I thought the interior was a bit *too* minimalistic ... and the closed system (no CarPlay, no Android Auto) put me off a bit. That and ... then there's the look of the front-end of the Model Y which reminds me of puckering lips -- not a design fan. Other cars like the VW ID.4 aren't available. But I really like the look/styling of the Mach-E and think it's easily the best looking car in the category. I love that the interior is modernized ... but without stripping away every possible control and moving it to the monitor. I like that the Mach-E has a driver info display in front of the steering wheel rather than piling everything on the center screen. It's a nicer interior.
@@TheVirtualTim Great feedback and comparison between the two of them! I've heard from a few folks about not being the biggest fans of the interior of the Model Y.. I just had to scope out more pics to see those puckering lips. Hilarious. The Mach-E is a great design and will only get better with time. Hope you enjoy the new ride, would be great to get a 6 month update from you!
Madeleine from Price Ford in Washington. Extremely detailed video. I forwarded this to my clients that were struggling with this new technology. The segmented sections that are labeled are clever. Thank you. Highly recommend.
Hey Madeleine, thanks so much for the kind words! So excited that your clients would be able to use the video as well. How long have you been with Price Ford?
Nicely done! So much practical info told clearly and precisely. Picked up out MME yesterday and will play your video in car as I do set up. Thank you very much!
The screen ratio for CarPlay showed at 9:43 is so weird in this car! Because the screen is oriented in portrait, CarPlay seems to accommodate for the width of the display, and shows only 4 icons per row. And as the screen is giant, so are the icons! They look like a zoomed UI for visually unpaired people, frankly. But that's not all, CarPlay is also boxed within a horizontal partial view inside the giant vertical tablet, so because the display then adopts a horizontal ratio, CarPlay can only show 2 rows of (giant) icons. Some other car manufacturers manage to show more real estate in CarPlay in new cars that have actually smaller displays! See e.g. the Hyundai IONIQ 5 or the Kia EV6.
It's interesting that more of the screen real estate isn't utilized in Apple Car Play and Android Auto. It's the same issue that came with the larger Sync3 screen in the Explorer ST. I'm hoping that Ford reads these comments and does something about it. The more people bring issues up, the more likely manufacturers are going to listen to what they're saying so I'd also recommend contacting Ford USA/Canada directly with that one

This was great to watch. I don't have the Mach E but a different new vehicle-Ford Edge with this screen. Here's the question nobody can answer: Let's say I am parking at the airport waiting for someone. When I turn the car off I can listen to the stereo/radio for about 10 minutes before it auto shuts off. Is there a function that allows for the stereo/radio to remain on longer than 10 minutes? I have asked many Ford representatives and nobody seems to have answer but I am certain the capability is there. If you know or if someone does know please share.
Lots of custom functionality, which is very good, but it needs too much attention from the driver for most basic functions. Great informative video, subscribed
There are a lot of things going on but it's like anything.. once you use it you end up getting used to it. Glad you enjoyed the video, appreciate the support!
Good software offering for a second gen of this car. Still holding off for a electric convertible Mustang. Looking forward to software that is more mature + a convertible electric.
Forgot to mention about rain sensing wipers going on in a car wash, need to turn off before you go inside the wash. Also be sure auto hold is OFF or you get the wash operators upset cause your holding up the line. Happened to me.
That's a great point Cliff! It always takes it happening to one person for everyone else to know about it. I'm going to mention that in video shoots going forward. Thanks so much!
We have had our Mach e for about 3 weeks now and are still learning new things. one that is kind of annoying is that you can't type in the nav apps seach. Not even if you are a passenger.
Ah not being able to type an address while moving is a bit frustrating.. Have you tried navigating with your voice? How are you enjoying your Mach E otherwise?
i was hoping to get more info on what can be displayed on the dashboard instrument cluster in addition to the touch screen. when i test drove a mach-e i couldnt figure out how to change what is on the screen. do you have a video on that? i skipped through this video and didnt see the dash cluster shown at all.
There actually isn’t too much that can be done to the dashboard cluster screen. Really just displays the speed, navigation if necessary and a few other things. I’ll look at putting a video together on that though
There wasn't much lag compared to what I've seen in other vehicles. If you have a chance to test drive one, play around with the screen I think you'll be surprised
Having an alert that goes off every time you turn off a car will just be ignored after time. Hyundai has the same implementation however it only alerts when there is actually weight on the back seat. Wish more companies had that function, but at least Ford is working towards it.
Agree with you there on conditioning. Hopefully checking the back seat becomes a habit before ignoring the alert happens though I wonder if it would have the same ignore the alert effect if the sound changed either every time the vehicle was turned off or every few weeks
Thank you for the review. I am curious on the "charge scheduling". Tesla's scheduling can only do the "start charging" and not to "stop charging". It is important to have the "stop charging" due to the "higher tier" fee of charging at certain time of the day. I was hoping the Mach E can do the "stop charging".
You're welcome! There is the option of setting up charge times when you setup a charge location so that you're taking advantage of off-peak rates I'll make sure to go into detail on that when I shoot the video for the 2022 model (that will also have better audio)
Three more things when you make that video. I cannot find "rollover test data" on the Mach E. Can you also store where / how many cameras does it have. Third, is there a waiting list to purchase the 2022 Mach E? Thank you 🙏🏽

Ford's backup camera must be from 2007... I guess that purchase a lot of them. I can't imagine how or why they would not want to update these. Just awful in 2021
It's definitely gotten better from 2007. The old cameras were terrible in low light and my guess was quality was around 480p resolution. Did you actually drive one of these or are you basing what you said on the recorded quality from my video?
@@CarsWithSteve The quality of those older cameras were terrible, I feel like this is the same backup camera picture as my 2014 Ford Edge has, just jumping to a 2018 Jeep GC, the quality is night and day better. Why shouldn't it be? It has taken BEST crossover of the year, 2021. Tesla didn't even make the short list. Days ago, Elon announced that the price on Tesla cars need to come down and he immediately started slashing prices. It appears that the Mach E is turning heads. Even Tesla buyers and Tesla fans are going all in on the Mach E. That was probably the best overview of the car. We just received ours a few days ago, in Germany. We still have a couple of bugs. I am the second driver and I am having a problem connecting my phone as a key. Basic stuff works like locking and unlocking. The other issue is the charging. We have the extended battery so we should get 550 range +/- but we are only getting 455 KM range. We are wondering if the more you drive it the range will change? Still learning about charging stations and the Ford Pass. We have only charged it fully once and that was at my wife's work, it was free. Waiting for install of our home charging system. It's great so far but we have only have about 250 KM on it!
Thanks so much Peter! The max range on the extended battery is currently around 483km as per Ford corporate. The range may drop over time as the lithium battery fuel cells are used and recharged which is standard with electric cars. Personal driving habits (slow vs pedal to the metal starts), whether you condition the vehicle before driving and your braking habits will also affect the total range. Interesting that you're having issues with your phone as a key. @@CarsWithSteve Just so you know. If Ford wants to compete with Tesla, they should enable the live camera feeds front and back. Actually Tesla has no front/bumper camera like the mustang but does have a central/windshield-mounted one. Tesla also has 1 each on the B pillars. Also software updates must be frequent and allow the car to have more features over time. Ok.
