Quick tip! I like to listen at your slightly slower pace a couple of times, and then set the playback speed (“vitesse de lecture”) at 1.25, so it’s faster. That way I get your helpful (!) slower version and also a more typical pace of conversation. Try it out, everyone!
another cool idea, thanks again! i find newscasts have different topics everyday but have the same format. i hear many words/sentences being repeated. listening, repeating, active vocabulary, personal interests are keys to learning a language. You're a great writer and teacher.

Even though I can't understand a lot of what I hear because they speak so fast, I am finding that it helps me to hear the same words being repeated within the context of the news, I'm now getting better at remembering those words. The other good thing is I'm starting to recognize more verbs being conjugated.

I also have bought tons of French books, trying to learn French on my own. You are a genius. I am going on a cycling festival week soon, in France, (I live there) and I will need lots of vocabulary to talk in french about cycling. There are thousands of cyclist coming so I will have plenty of people to talk to😅. So, in Google translate in English I wrote 6 words that I know I will want to use, but did not immediately recall the french, and wrote down those french words. Then I copied what you did, but wrote my message in English but asking for the stories in french, and giving the french words I wanted. E.g. vallonée, déscentes, montées, guidon. It worked! PLUS in the story were more words I did not know/forgot which would be useful.e.g l'épreuve. So I can ask for more stories with these new words as well. You are spot on...weaving in new words by hooking them up to existing vocabulary, connecting them by using natural real-life context. I will continue experimenting with this, using situations and subjects that I often want to talk about with french friends e.g, in my running club, camping and hiking, gym and weight training. These often have a specific vocabulary that I struggle with. YOU ARE A GENIUS.💥💥💥🙏 PS I will also watch videos and identify words that way.🎉

J’apprécie toujours des nouvelles méthodes à essayer! J’ai essayé une méthode similaire en utilisant chatGBT pour m’écrire une histoire. P. ex., « écrivez-moi une histoire avec les 20 verbes ou adjectifs les plus utilisés, etc. ». C’est utile, mais pas super utile pour moi - peut-être que je devrais la réviser davantage. J’ai essayé, et je continue d’essayer, tellement de stratégies! Je dois admettre que vraiment les mots qui "collent" pour moi sont les mots que j’utilise quand je pratique. p. ex., avec mon tuteur, mais ce n’est qu’une fois par semaine. Je trouve des vidéos comme la vôtre utiles aussi pour le vocabulaire! : ) Aussi essayer de parler du week-end et des choses normales que je fais est utile pour vocab, et je dois le faire plus!

Sorry to write this in English but I just had to say quickly that this was a genius idea! In fact, not only have I done what you say with 5 difficult words in ChatGPT as a story, but I now load in the words my French teacher write down that I have trouble with or can't remember or just don't know, and I ask ChatGPT to write a story including all words and phases and the stories are not just well written but are quite funny too. Salut Michael! Maintenant j'apprends le francais tout seul. Pendant de cet été je n'ai pas des lecons en francais donc je dois pratiquer seulement. Avec ChatGPT je peux lire les petites histoires en francais, je peux écrire en francais etc. Je me souviens quand j'étais lycéen, nous n'avions pas d'outils comme ChatGPT. La technologie a beaucoup progressé ces dernières années.

I learned Japanese quite quickly actually, compared to my much slower progress in French.The main reason I think was the very different situations. In Japan I was in a homestay and I had to use the language for my work. I had a lot of fun learning it. With French, although I am now living in France, I am in a bit of an English-speaking bubble. I still enjoy learning it though, but it takes much more effort, even though it is supposed to be an easier language to learn for native-English speakers. Interesting suggestion for learning!

Thanks for this another great video and idea. I use Perplexity (An AI search engine) if I want to know more about specific grammar and different contexts for the same French words. It's great, it gives me a clear explanation and then some brief examples.I've found it really helps me retain both vocab and grammar.I love your idea I will try it with Perplexity.

I am having problems associating sounds with meanings (verbal comprehension) but I am getting really good at reading French (visual recognition). I like your idea of ChatGPT with text to speech. I hope there is a speed adjustment and I hope the pronunciation is accurate.
I tried it and I love it! It is magical. In less than one second it creates stories!! I do wish there were a speed adjustment for text-to-speech but, alas and alack, there is not. Thanks for recommending it.
That's a great way to memorize words having chatgpt write stories for you out of the words you list. Myself, I utilize it to correct my sentences , I simply ask to it to correct if there is any grammatical mistakes and also if it's a common way to say so in french. It almost always tell me a better way that sounds more natural and I sometimes feel mocked by it (it says my sentence sounds a little awkward...) but its not an issue since I'm learning a new language right?.. C´est une idee geniale a mon avis. When I studied French years ago, I would write a new word, its transcription, and translation maybe 15 to 30 times. It is easier for me to retain words, names etc. if I write them down. But it is a cool approach. Could you please share some of the resources you use to study Japanese? Je suis japonaise et j’ai utilisé le même technique pour étudier français 🤣 On étudie les mots sur le livre de vocabulaire et fait un liste et demande chat GPT que il utilise le mots et fait un historie dans 5 phrases!
I have tried the Chat GPT thing and I get sentences I would never say. I prefer to personalize my learning by making up my own sentences, sentences I would say. Also, new words need repetition over time. I can learn a word well one day, but after one night's sleep it has evaporated. I learn a word better if I see it again after a few days, and in a different context. The same old context gets stale. My brain needs to be refreshed. And then there is the strange fact that some words click right away, and others refuse to stick no matter how hard I try. I don't have a solution to that problem.
