Hydro0 GD That’s true , but in the same time he should be reprimanded for the way he practiced which could have led to serious injuries. And the way he practiced will influence many people to do so and that’s really something they should avoid. So that he did it is nice, but the fact that he posted it , showing the way he practiced while he was not technically ready in front thousands of people should be blamed , because that may lead some of his subscribers to hurt themselves.

I mean if you dont have some easyness to change the way you play your pieces, you will be stuck in a way of playing that won't let you put emotions or flow in your interpretatilns (General advice)

Just a tip for anyone playing/starting piano, please do not do what he is doing, learning from synthesia is very bad not to mention very dangerous, also, get a teacher, PLEASE! just on the 3rd day he said that his arm started to seize up, this is do to bad technique and can lead to serious permanent damage, also, learn scales, if you know how to play a chromatic scale correctly you can learn this in piece in one day.
@horationelson1840

People can learn piano however they want. Everyone has their own approach that all have strengths and drawbacks. I personally had a piano teacher for a while back when I was a kid, and it was shit. I wish I never had one. I didn’t learn anything that couldn’t have learned faster online.

I do remember having a teacher. The teacher and piano were cool. Nothing else. The pieces I learned were shit. After my mom made me leave piano lessons for an unknown reason, I picked up piano a few years later. That was much better. Since I had the teacher for about a year, I knew most of the stuff you needed to know about sheet music. The basics like treble and bass. I didn’t learn a lot about sharps and flats, so I learned more about piano online. It was better than I imagined. I used some synthesia for a little while in the beginning, but I started to use sheets more, and I got better and better. It’s fun
@giraffodil436
@giraffodil436 5 лет назад
@@horationelson1840 Yeah okay, there isn't a single fully self taught pianist i know of that doesn't sound like actual garbage, what allows you to get better is working the stuff that is boring instead of trying to skip through all training of technique, reading sheets, intonation, scales and so on and just playing "insanely hard" pieces and sounding like trash. as i said before, if he knew scales, he would have learned this in a day, knowing even basic technique and knowing how to read sheets will let you progress and learn pieces much much faster, even if it seems slow and boring at first. Also, there is absolutely no advantage to learning without a teacher.
@giraffodil436
@giraffodil436 5 лет назад
@Benjamin Bogle - Pursuing Progress I am not at all mad, all i am saying is that getting a teacher is just about essential if you take music seriously, of course there will be some people who learn through the internet and sound alright, but having someone that knows what they are doing guiding will help so so much, as i said before, if he had actually been taught basic scales this would have been easy for him, i'm not mad about what he accomplished but as a classical musician i don't want these videos to be how piano is portrayed as it encourages a bad way of taking on music. i want people to succeed and learning pieces through synthesia is a terrible way to learn.

I like the way you approach learning and the way you think, and these videos are really awesome and can teach us important things about learning, but I felt like I need to say something about this. This piece is not as hard as some people say. There are pieces way harder in the repertoire of some professional pianists. Sometimes they even learn hundreds of harder pieces. I think you did a wonderful job, but we should never underestimate what people's progresses are after they dedicated hours and hours over too many years since they were sometimes 3 years old at something where there's too many room to constantly learn and too many tricks. Anyways, I believe you would be an amazing pianist! Even if you're plan is following this as amateur, just to relax or have some fun

Ok, bumblebee is quite hard, but it really isn't nearly as bad as Liszt/Chopin. It's also relatively short (compared to things like la campanella and moonlight sonata 3.)
@zoink5484
@zoink5484 5 лет назад
hahaahah, Moonlight is a 7 out of 14 on the RCM scale, La Campanella is agreeably difficult, yes, but not even close to being the hardest....Very, very far from the hardest, its like an 11. Listen to Ravel scarbo, or islamey
@synthesiageek4667
@synthesiageek4667 5 лет назад
@@zoink5484 yes, I know. There are songs that are much harder than those, but I would think that most people wouldn't know what they are. Theres one song liszt wrote wrote, gallop in a minor, that is much harder than la campanella. But you're right, Islamey is the hardest (but you couldnt really just learn it in 30 days.)

Congrats on a fine performance... Nobody in my family (those who took piano lessons including myself) ever tried such a difficult piece. Nice playing for someone who learned the notes in such a short time. The most recent performance I've heard was by the young virtuoso Lydian Nadhaswaram from India. He literally took the tempo up to 160bpm (world record speed). His music is at another level like playing guitar & drums on top of a prerecorded piano video he performed, playing 2 pianos simultaneously, playing blindfolded, etc. Otherwise I'm relearning a 4-part fugue by Bach. The piece has a slower & steady tempo but complicated in a different way. There are a lot of long & short notes all mashed together. Working out the most ideal fingerings to make the 4 parts flow is as time-consuming as learning the notes. The last time I played the piece was a few years ago on a street piano.

the biggest challenge to learning this piece, is the burning patience you have to have with your fingers not wanting to go a hundred miles an hour. the wrist and arms should always be smooth and stress free. once you tense up, you need to slow down. the slower you go, the faster you'll learn. it would have been great if you would have worked on the dynamics of the piece from the beginning because even though you play it slow (which is amazing for 30 days) with good dynamic character it would bring it more to life.

I really appreciate how there's people out there like you who do something like this for fun, and the amount of effort and practice and dedication that's gone into this must be crazy. However from a pure technical and musical perspective this is not recommended. Just don't injure yourself as that can happen easily if you practice too much in the wrong way with a piece way above your technical level. And Flight of the Bumblebee is most likely just that. Most musicians will suggest a teacher, and some technical excersises but it's not that important if you're just playing for fun. Even then, if you do something, might aswell do it to the best of your ability right? Goodluck on your journey man!

I do play violin,flute,guitar,ukelele(still learning) and piano but I once tried to attempt playing flight of the Bumblebee and it was a smooth learning because I followed sheet music and I been playing piano since I was 7 so I just tried this piece But I never tried this on flute😂.I tried playing this piece on violin for 3 months and now I can play this piece half way.

N1gerTV Everyone needs to stop giving this guy such bad advice. If he isn’t at least a grade 8-9 piano player then it isn’t an efficient use of time to play such a demanding piece. It’s length is enough to put anyone off, not to mention it’s technical challenges. This guy is quite clearly a lower grade piano player and while he has potential to be a strong pianist, he really should stick to learning things at his own level and at least learn to read music if he has any hopes of playing virtually anything by Chopin.

I like how you had the dedication to do this everyday for a month, like many others that commented before it would be beneficial to your future videos if you remind yourself to relax when playing. Just like in sports, playing a musical instrument requires warming up and being attentive towards dynamics, articulation, phrasing and I reckon you did a pretty good job learning the notes! The next step of improvement would be to add in phrasing and dynamics - usually on sheet music it is labelled where the composer/editor wants you to express.

I'll chime in about hand tension. I'm working on a Schubert piece that's begging to inflame/destroy my carpal tunnel, but I'm taking exquisite, exhausting care to learn those passages with zero tension in my hands, which is taking about 20x longer than it would to just force those passages with tense fingers. The real challenge of the bumblebee is to develop the suppleness to play the chromatic work with a quiet hand, which would take you years to really do well. I admit I'm tempted (and just ordered a copy of this) but I fear it will be years before I can do it any justice, and I'm an amateur but have played with an orchestra etc. We'll see....
