I spent countless hours learning these off of records in 1967. These style of tutorials are fantastic. I only wish these were available when I was learning years ago.
i commend you, everytime i learn something new, i always say to my self, "id have never thought of doing this without youtube" the fact you were able to learn by hearing is probably a benefit to you now.
That was a lot of fun Alex, although I couldn’t keep up with you, I was able to allow myself to get out of my own way and actually felt the vibe of the music that you shared with us. Thanks.
Thank you for your great harmonica instructionals. In the future I would love it if you could breakdown my favorite Little Walter riff which is the intro to Muddy Water's She moves me. I think this is one of the most beautiful intros of all time! Obviously, the notes aren't complicated my question is about the tone. What type harmonica, microphone and techniques are needed to get that amazing tone.
And again your tone and technique, and that little slides, man u r great great player! After kim wilson, dennis gruenling and few more that is the tone that i would love to have as a tonque blocker!!!
Правда очень достойный подбор думаю из всех что есть в ютубе самый лучший для обучения по Волтеру. Всё совпадает. Если бы всего Жука выложить в вашем исполнении с цифровкой такой !!!!
I believe, even though he makes it obvious, you have to make a mental note of the hand wah. Absolutely critical to attaining anything close to the sound you shoukd be projecting
Hi Alex, how did you tackle single hole blowing? I can play the harmonica classically but not as the Blues players play. SIngle notes. Suggestions are welcome. Regards
Hey everyone. I'm wondering what harp models is using little Walter is using on the video picture pls? Where do we find those big harps, if we still can find them
That's a chromatic - totally different instrument. I don't recommend it, at least check out this www.harmonica.com/exploring-the-3-types-of-harmonica/ I think he's playing one of these: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SupChromonC--hohner-super-chromonica-key-of-c
I have yet to receive my first harmonica in the mail (aside from one I had as a child) and want to simulate that Little Walter sound where he cupped his hands around the harmonica and microphone. I wonder if there's a best way to achieve that sound (as far as specific gear).
Maybe a little bit late, but it means you block holes 4 and 5 with your tongue, so you only play holes 3 and 6. You can do this more easily by taking the harmonica deeper into your mouth. If you got it right you play to notes, that are exactly one octave apart, which creates a full sound. If you don't get it first, you could also try to put some sort of stripes over the holes you want to avoid playing. So you can hear what it should sound like. Hope this was helpful.
Hey Evan - sure thing. I love this video, I've spent so much time working on these 3 songs! Key to the Highway: C harmonica, 2nd position, key of G Juke: A harmonica, 2nd position, key of E My Babe: Bb harmonica, 2nd position, key of F And here’s the tabs: www.harmonica.com/little-walters-top-3/ Rock on, my friend!
