@@arnoldcheng9609 True, think the same, learned about yesterday that Mandarin is most commonly spelt this way, is just that in Brazil (where I live) lot of texts about Mandarin have it writen the way I commented. That's the nice thing about learning a language, as our studies go on we start noticing the commom mistakes around us that usually are the key to differenciating a fluent from a "college degree" level of speech (just like when you're in the last steps of mastering your first non-maternal language, though i'm not even close to that with Mandarin)
@@SkullGamerFull actully chinese people will understand you even if you dont practice any tone things, but it sounds not natural.how long have you been learning Chinese btw
Davide Di Oh that's amazing....Chinese in general is a beautiful language and I am tending to learn it even if it takes me 100 years to do so....wish me luck -.-
@114018561760837891936 sorry but what is a senpai? Edit: Senpai is the Japanese pronunciation of 先輩, which means a senior at school or workplace. This word is pronounced Xianbei in Mandarin, which was why I didn't get it initially.
I am a native Mandarin speaker, I just wanna say her pronounce is almost perfect, even better than my grandma. Most of Chinese who use Cantonese as first language, they have a very funny accent when they speak Mandarin. But I can't feel her accent, that's really amazing for a native English speaker.
Holy crap, this is the video I watched when I first got to China in 2017 and so nostalgic. I remember when even this content was almost too difficult and foreign for me. Now I can have semi fluent conversations in advanced topics in Chinese after on and off study over the past 4 years. Don’t give up guys, this language takes a while and is packed with obstacles and barriers to learning but so rewarding the more you learn and communicate with locals. They sure appreciate it and know how hard it is for foreigners to learn.
I was tryna learn Mandarin on RosettaStone but instead of teaching me stuff I'l actually use, it taught me shit like "This dog is swimming." This was much more helpful.
But this is a really good tutorial my mama sister and I went out to eat and I started ordering in mandarin. The waitress look at my mama and my mama shrugged her shoulders and said... "At least I know she's learning outside of school".
I am married to a Fluent Mandarin Speaking women, only learned about ten phrases, decided to watch this video, learned more here than a decade around Asians.
The very fact that a non-native person like you can speak such a difficult language so well is encouraging to the learners. By the way, I traveled to China both before and after the 2008 Olympics and noticed that cab drivers there could speak and understand basic English after the Olympics.
Because English is a required subject in Chinese education, most Chinese people have no problem communicating in a simple, slow-moving language, even though they have never had the opportunity to use English in their lives.
I am a native Mandarin speaker. Your pronunciation is perfect. I like the way you teach languages. Recently, I follow you to learn French. Now, I am so surprised that you teach Mandarin as well. Cool.
I watched this 8 years ago and decided to start learning Chinese. I never used any more of her resources but became pretty fluent. It feels nostalgic now. I can hear her American accent when she speaks now but I couldn't back then.
I can translate into English for u if you want, just need you to snap the pictures and send them to me. But how come Western ppl begin to watch such artificial sentimental Chinese TV drama.
I am a Chinese born overseas who speaks Chinese. I think she is doing a very good job. I really admire her. The way she teaches is very clear and makes it easy to learn Chinese. Kudos!
Oh my God, what a class teacher you are. The way you start n make it understand. Really lucky to see u....your one video made me, gave me confidence to start, to study Chinese. Xie Xie You The Best
Whenever i'm struggling with English or Italian, I watch Chinese lessons on RU-vid to remind me how hard it is for a non-native speaker to learn a new language. Makes me happy every time.
Denise Lu hye dear, im from malaysia and i am a girl. can u teach me on how to speak chinese? i watched some video that saying if we want to learn foreign language, it would be more helpful if we have someone who is good in that language.
What the hell were you doing during those 20 years? You could become more fluent in Chinese than in your own native language in that amount of time if you tried hard enough.
Yeah I have to agree wtf fuck, I started learning German as a side language starting from the first of December of and on, and due to Christmas (mainly focusing on Japanese) and I can already say more things then what was in this video.
An excellent approach ... when I studied Hindi nothing taught was of any practical use .. this is immediately valuable to me when I visit the local Buddhist temple Tea House. Thankyou.
I'm a teacher myself and Ive tried to keep my lessons as far as possible from picture-word teaching and simple repetition. I try to use context - usually in the form of short, circular stories, depending on level - and games. Love your approach. Started last Thursday out of simple boredom/ challenging myself. Already very interested today, Saturday. :-)
I'm a student studying in England and I used to be a broadcaster in China, which means my Mandrin pronunciation has been trained professionally and is much better than most Chinese people. Even so, I have to say, your Chinese pronunciation is so incredibly amazing!!!!!!
Thank you!I am Chinese and was originally trying to Learn spanish, some how find your Chinese tutorial and find out you pronounce 100% correctly!which I know not too many people can speak that well unless he or she was native. I am very impressed and gaining more confidence on learning more language from you. Thank you!
This video is AMAZING!!! I spent a couple months in China. All I had was the lessons from this video. It was enough to get out of a rough airport situation with a taxi and to do basic communication with waiters and my hosts friends. Thank you for making this!!
I learned Mandarin when I was about 6 (and took classes until I was about 8) because my dad worked in China a lot so I would go for a month every year in the summer. I got pretty good, but then my school stopped offering classes and my dad stopped working in China. Recently I got interested in learning again, so I came looking for videos on basic Mandarin. I was surprised by how much I started to remember watching this and that I can still recognize the difference in tune of the words.
Welcome to China. In fact China children learning Chinese and youtobe on many video is not the same, but maybe this way is more suitable for a foreigner (in fact in terms of efficiency comparison first way will be higher)
You make mandarin easy. That means you are an superb teacher.b Thank you very much for finally make me understand how intonation and pinyin tranlisteration work.
Your pronunciation is amazing ! You must helped so many people ! I'm a native Chinese speaker so I'll have to say that there are some translating mistakes , but it's difficult for new foreign learners to understand , those sentences are easy to practice and helpful for communication but they are actually very impolite to say ... Yet , you are a nice person ! 很棒的老师!
Very effective Lessons, I've been married to my Mandarin Wife for 15 years now and was with a Taiwanese girl for two years before her. I should have let myself be taught 17 years ago, that Tawanese girl was a teacher and was good at it. Now I'm starting for real and will be speaking fluently within about 3 years I hope. This the first Video watched since watching about learning how to speak mandarin from some effective British guy explaining what you'd need to learn about four years ago , including witch translater, dictionaries and other relevent information important in learning Mandarin. That was Four years ago, I know now I'm burrying my head into it. May take some time but it'll pay. Most of the wife and I's friends are all Mandarin. Many years, groups of up to thirty people all spoke English for me but now they don't care anymore, they're all relaxed around me so It's time to learn and This Is my starting point. Excellent Announciation. All the Best, Excellent Courses. ( Note- RU-vid, Please remove the unsavory remarks, I remeber my first beer, there's plenty of other places where those types seek out those remarks) Diplomacy and Respect.
This was a very very good lesson. I'm really trying to train my ear to these particular tones...thanks. As a complete and total beginner, this was helpful!
Sepia Rose hello, native Mandarin speaker here, If you wanna learn mandarin, I can teach you, and you can correct my English errors. My Skype:skipper5678. Welcome to add me!
There are several things for how to learn Chinese Decide exactly why you wish to speak Chinese Try to use Chinese everyday Decide what method works for you best. (I read about these and more on Magic mandarin blueprint website )
You know as English speakers we hear the very slight inflection make a world of difference and think to ourselves "oh boy what a tough language". But then you just hear the super slight difference in tone for the word "good" and "god" and think, oh s*** English is hard
Let me say it was awesome. I really really enoy this video. It literally takes us step by step and makes it very very easy to catch up and understand that quickly. Especially for a beginner like me. Thank you very much.
Same I just started learning manderain I liked this video allot. I cant even speak full sentences yet but hopefully with good youtuber teachers I'll get there!
This was so helpful, I’ve learned French and Spanish and you made learning mandarin easier than I learned in middle school haha Thank you so much. I have my husband laughing with me as I pronounce it funny. I speak Cantonese so mandarin isn’t too hard to understand certain words.
This is the first time I've watched a video on Chinese, and thought, maybe I CAN learn Chinese. Really awesome. You need to fix your link in the description. It doesn't work.
Ahh the words alcohol and shop, you don't have to catch the phrase too much. Idk how to explain. But for fandian= restaurant, could be chan ting too(different vocal tho)
In ancient China, liquor shops often provided a place to sleep. s.t. Alcohol+shop=hotel😂 If you know some Chinese history, you will find it easy to learn mandarin
