Technically it was purchased by SpaceX and Elon RENTS it. I wouldn't be surprised if they built a full employee village as Starbase develops. Although employee villages have a sketchy history. (Ford in the early years - when Henry started going off the deep end) Honestly "living" at work gets pretty old as any former service member will tell you. Work/life balance and all that.

*There are numerous architectural home styles - i.e., ranch, craftsman, contemporary, cape cod, colonial, etc.* But what do people really need when it comes to protecting themselves from the elements? 4 walls, a floor & a ceiling. In fact, one can survive in a dwelling shaped like a triangle. But what *BOXABL* is doing here is setting the foundation for eliminating homelessness, world-wide. _I'm a huge fan of this idea, an idea that's at least 50 years overdue!_

Now just design it so that all the wiring and the electrically powered systems in the house are EMP-resistant and that the house is so energy efficient that a reasonable amount of solar panels and storage batteries can take the house completely off the grid. Lots of people want small homes in beautiful, off-grid locations.

You can try reading rules on your local governments website, but sometimes it can be confusing. As a minimalist, this is right up my alley. Design looks great and mobility (Outside of traditional RV's & other motorhomes) would be a perfect solution for me. Not only that, but if there were monthly payments for these (ie like 1 or 2 bedroom condos), they would be pretty darn affordable for most.

This could be very interesting thinking about public housing for the homeless, low cost quality housing for entry level workers, temporary housing after natural disasters, there's lots of issues this could really help with. How does the material do with stressors like hurricanes, flooding, earthquake, etc

@@BOXABL I live in a major snow state. We've had this building since the 50s. Flat roof and triangle roof. It saw the 67 storm as well as the 79 storm (Chicago). From my half century experience with Chicago weather, snow, especially in something this small, isn't an issue. What IS, is drainage (lots of rain at least twice a year, spring and fall) and heat/cold. It can be as much as 107 (deadly heat wave for poor people) or well below 0. Wasting the water is silly. So is wasting it for things like baths and showers. It should be recycled. But you have the cootie issue (Legionare's Disease. For one)

These prices are affordable but when you look at the mayor in Los Angeles and how he congratulated himself on building units for the homeless at $130k+ each its ridiculous. You guys need to get involved because they wasted a hell of alot of tax payer dollars per unit with their current unit supplier.

I hear that !! I'm from L.A. too, and read that it it would cost $ 500,000 per apartment unit with standard construction. Then again, administration, overhead, and fees take about half of the money for each of these. Boxabl can go ahead and cut out all these middle- men. Another good way to get the word out is you let some TikTok or RU-vid star live in it for a certain amount of days, weeks, month and they give their honest review of it. And make them apart of the affiliate program so that they will want to promote it more. Just a thought. Good luck!!!

Love this so much! Another great area that boxable could help with is in the seasonal worker problem in Colorado resort towns (and probably many other vacation areas.) There is such a shortage of affordable housing that many of these workers end up living in their cars or tents. The cities are now making that so difficult , that there is a serious employment shortage. It would be fantastic to start villages of the casita in these places. This is a game changer in so many areas.

I'd imagine that the $10 million from the government could include such a percurement,or those FEMA trailer replacements I heard in previous videos. What could be targeted would be the creation of smart communities with Tesla. Have a series of homes tied to a solar farm. Self sustainable communities.

Yes, but remember these are for working people, farm hands, lumberjacks, Oil/gas camps, city dwelling have to many regulations and need follow through constant inspections therefore Cities have the construction builders interest at heart along with about 14 permits to build your home in cities.

Just two of these boxes (side by side instead of stacked unless you're planning an elevator/lift option) would make a fabulous home, I think. One to be a bedroom/bathroom/closet/laundry space and one to serve as living/dining/kitchen/office/half-bath space. Perfect amount of home, especially for an older person to maintain. Would probably end up more expensive than a normal home at the moment though. Only thing that might put it my view for the future is if it could be moved again easily should you decide to move to a different state or something. That would make it really perfect. 👍

A billion dollars with of preorders? That's 20,000, 50K homes. They said they can build 3000-5000 (edit) per year so it's going to either take 5 ish years, or have 4 factories up and running fast? The more I hear about this company, the more it sounds a bit of scam. They know full well they are treated like modular homes and that only place you'll be able to put them is trailer parks or your parents back yard. Home ownership, yeah right. Real estate isn't a camper, mobile home, tiny house, modular. Those things usually are a depreciating asset, not something that can fund your retirement one day if you cash out.

This is BRILLIANT. OMG. SUPER-exciting!! Those of us who work with chronically homeless community members (of whom there are more and more and more and more and more and more every year, everywhere :-( can instantly recognize the UTILITY and IMPORTANCE of this concept, manufacture process and incredible product. He's providing you the structure you can put on top of the rest. You provide the plot, foundation, place and set the unit, add roofing, pull any permits for desired utilities, etc. I think the trick is buy 'dirt cheap' land with nearby services. All utility hookups are at a corner. Plan accordingly.

I'm moving overseas this year but if I were staying Stateside I would have gone this route. I told my sister about Boxabl but I don't know if she's forward thinking enough. I really admire what you're doing. As a truck driver myself, yeah. But more because of the slope. My trainer got a rig stuck trying to turn around and running up on a slope. I told him to stop but he didn't listen to me (I got another trainer soon after this because I was definitely not listening to him!) When the tractor was half up slope, the drives on one side came off the ground and on the other side they were pinched under the trailer. Stuck. We had to call a wrecker. Lessoned learned.

The assembly line was invented by Eli Whitney as a result of his invention of the "Cotten Gin" and it's huge success and needing to make lots of them very accurately so his supplied spare parts could be easily installed on the worn machines. All this happened in the 1790's well over 100 years before Ford worked out auto assembly lines. Also gun mfg. Samuel Colt perfected a gun assembly line and parts supply system from Whitney's ideas around the 1880's with similar success. Boxable is very interesting and may be the people's do to houses what Whitney, Colt and Ford did before them with machines!

Already invested in a Casita months ago. Super excited for the future of this! Saw a few potentials on adding in Boxabl kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, etc for larger homes and would be SUPER interested in a standalone kitchen space with a small bathroom attached within. What you need is a boxable that can connect to another boxable, every room can have a kitchennette sink and bathroom (always nice), linked together to make 1, 2,3 bedrooms. Plus garage, so that building codes can accept. The living room kitchenette only needs a stove and a fridge and you have a kitchen. Every room having it's own bathroom and extra sink? AWESOME.

Seriously keep this up this is now one of my dream houses. I would buy small property and put one of these on it and build a small concrete basement close to for storms. That would be cool to if you guys could find a way to make portable storm shelters that you could buy in a bundle. I'm 16 years old and if this keeps up I won't have to worry as much financially in the future. I'm surprised I haven't heard of this sooner.

I'm older, but I WAS your age. Here's the top 5 things I would have done: Stay in school. Yup. But get into the trades. Truck driver. Plumber. Electrician. Mechanic. Just never be stupid or cocky and watch your hands/fingers. Put that money into something safe, like mutual funds. Get your parents to help you. Leave it there. Live real simple. Buy/keep less stuff. In a few years, if you can't fit it all on a big motorcycle for 2 weeks, you might not need it. Drive very carefully. Open your ears around experts. Mechanics. Stock investors. Old people in particular, they went through some stuff you and I can't even imagine. The great depression was no joke. Find a show called 1940s House. People act like it's the 40s for 9 weeks. Very cool. It's British , so not quite the US experience, tho. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

I live in California and housing is like $300k for a tiny little POS in the bad side of town. These homes could be placed anywhere a piece of land exists. That vacant lot down the street could be somebody's dream home.

This is a lot like another new technology company I invested in, Aptera. Like here, they are also currently accepting online reservations for their solar powered product that has yet to hit the assembly line for mass production. Why don't you make it modular? Like convertible containers, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, double bedroom. You can custom fit your layout on a virtual grid and use "spacers" in between and then order the modules you need.

It looks like it is modular, but they use shipping containers only for actual shipping, which is probably best. Shipping containers are cool, but not great as permanent houses for a variety of reasons.

Making it modular would be the ultimate! Currently a reasonably nice mobile home is 150-200K. Being able to add to that later would be the bomb. Home, office, combos, or business. Adding modules later as family, home or business needs as budget and needs grew would make it my first choice.

Wow... Hopefully it's also affordable for people with disabilities who have low incomes as well because that would be a godsend for a lot of people who just can't afford to have a house remodeled or rebuilt that can fit up to a family of five with a lot of animals.. I like my family we rescued so many animals from death row that and we gave them a home with love and care even save them from even parvo and we've given them a loving caring home and our kids have grown attached to the dogs.. and hopefully you guys can also keep up the amazing work cuz it's about time somebody came up with a new way of building a home..
