@@mikaelbaggstrom totally Worth it ! What do you think about this combo: Omnisphere 2 + BIAS Fx2 + EzDrummer 2? I'm now learning from you on Skillshare and from Nico Astegiano on YT
@@BluessNRock Depends, EZ drummer is great if you want quick drum parts. I record all mine personally, and nothing beats Superior Drummer 3 from what I've tried for acoustic drum sets. I also love Addictive Drums 2 though. Bias is supposed to be amazing for guitar amps, but I don't have it myself.
@@mikaelbaggstrom is Addictive Drummer good for chopping drum breaks or is it more single hits for a realistic “real” drummer sound? The reason I ask is bc I make Drum & Bass and I chop my drum breaks on the MPC but I’m looking for a good break chopper vst! 🤷🏻🖤🎶🔊
I can see why so many love Omnisphere and rave about it. It simply sounds great! I'd still choose Falcon 2/3 over Omnisphere every time, but if I already was heavily invested in Omnisphere I'd maybe have a different opinion. The oscillators of Omnisphere really do sound fantastic though!
Thank you Mikey, this was great. I just got Omnisphere for my birthday 🥳 and your overview is excellent. I have done your Udemy Hybrid Orchestral course (which is also really good), so when I saw your video in my search results, I knew it would be good. I followed along (pausing and rewinding many times as I messed around) and ended up making an awesome patch (“instrument”) in the process.
I feel ya bro. Thanks for all you have done. I watch your RU-vid tutorials as much to hear your accent as the clear and concise way you explain things. I have also purchased some of your online courses for the same reasons.
Thank you Lawrence, I truly appreciate it. And while I will probably do more courses in the future, I simply got to a point after all these years when I felt I have to follow my heart and have my youtube channel be my own creative outlet. To enjoy what I do, and don't care about views or anything. Just share my journey with the world, and hopefully some are inspired by it and support me. Who knows, this might be a new spark for my channel growth. =)
Thank you for this great tutorial! I've been using Omnisphere for more than a year and always used the presets. I've never bothered "learning" about it until today! And let me tell you, this was the best 30 mins and the MOST I've learnt about Omnisphere! Definitely beneficial for those who already understand and have used Omnisphere before because Mikael puts everything nice and tight in a little box of information that will be FANTASTIC for all Omnisphere users; whether new or just for revision! Thanks Again!
Thanks man. I've had this thing over a year and don't know how to use it that well because of lack of time. I always used presets but I appreciate you🎉
Hi Mikael I just wanted to send you some positive vibes and tell you that you come across as very down to earth, as well as passionate and sincere about the craft, Good work
You're very welcome, I do also have a video series with Tips & Tricks on various elements of Omnisphere: ru-vid.com/group/PLbvz3L5TqIywJKVRfFGcpIj2NDn7kyRl1 Sincerely, Mike
Very informative video and straight to the point. I ordered omnisphere and should be getting it in the mail soon. Wanted to learn the vst before getting it so I wouldnt be overwhelmed. Again, thank you so much for this.
A very nice video. Difficult to find a simple and easy way to start with omni... When I bought it I thought I wasted my money but every time I use it I discover new things... but everything on a very slow learning curve!!! Thank You Mikael!!!
Hi Mikael. Not the first time I've watched one of your great walkthroughs, but this one.. oh my. A great presentation my friend. Thanks. I love the way that Omnisphere is so deep, yet logically laid out and relatively easy to navigate; I could never get my head round the patching of the classic synths. So, thanks again mate 😉
Thank you so much Mikael, this is fantastic. I echo the comments by most of the folks below. I have already making things better for me by taking out layers and simplifying the fantastic sounds inside Omni. I got my new computer recently and have decided to strip right down with Ominsphere and Komplete 13 (and Sylenth for instant 'give me' sounds) This is a huge help to get me what I need out of Omni. Cheers and Thank You again
Thank you very much, Mike!! As always, great tutorial! One thing would be great in future: timestamps to jump around quicker between the chapters. :) Thanks again!
Thank you Ben, more Omnisphere videos on the way, so that you and fellow composers/producers can learn to master this wonderful and powerful synth/sound design tool! =) Sincerely Mike
Be aware of limitations like you cannot add your own vst effects into effect slots or can you? Does the reverb have the possibilty to choose your favourite impulse? Arpeggiator could be per layer. As a workaround it lets you route multis' channels to different DAW mixer outputs. The most important thing is that filters are very musical and meaningfully controllable which box is checked. You should be ready to pay 500$ for bunch of those filters only. LP filters are the ones making The Tone but HP filters are the most important aspect when consider immediate mixing and there are 6 of HPs. You have to be able to cut the layered bass ends to get most out of them.
Such a useful video! Many things I didn't take the time to discover while in a production rush... Thank you for that, I can't wait to watch your other tutorials, and thanks too for the free sounds you offer!
Thank you for your very nice and encouraging comment,. Yes, I even have a full video series with tips & tricks in Omnisphere here with more videos to come: ru-vid.com/group/PLbvz3L5TqIywJKVRfFGcpIj2NDn7kyRl1 PS. Inspiring and clear explanations, Mikael! You mention setting up multiple instrument outputs at approx 15:08. Which of your subsequent videos explores this topic?

Very good video Mike! I didn't know this about Omnisphere until now. And I've been using it from time ago, but always as presets that I modulate with external FXs. I am soo getting Omnisphere 3 when it comes out (already have 2.2 I guess, haven't updated to the free 2.5 because of many projects I have to render to publish.... I don't want to risk them until they are finished.
Hi Mike, Thank you for your tutorial. It has helped me a lot to understand Omnisphere. In the future when you make tutorials on software’s, can you please highlight the mouse arrow so we can see clearly when you are moving it around the screen.
Thank you Andrew! I have lot of videos planned, especially if this video series turns out to be as popular as I hope. :) PS. You can help by sharing my videos. Cheers! 😃 Sincerely Mike
Haha, you probably will want it even more Ian! ;) PS. If you want to learn more, ask questions and connect with 1000s of composers. I welcome you to join the community for composers I created: forum.professionalcomposers.com Sincerely Mikael "Mike" Baggström
When installing I think I had trouble with the Steam folder or something but the plugin seems to work fine. What I’m really curious about is why there are so many available expansions for sale. This is a huge synth with lots of sounds and presets... are the expansions collections of additional presets or actual new samples that you couldn’t create on your own with the stock plugin? I honestly only purchased this because I was a fan of the previous plugin Purity years ago and figured I’d get this to make my setup legit. The thing I liked most about Purity was how similar it was to a hardware synth such as the many beginner-level keyboards that had all the basic categories of sounds laid out starting with pianos and onto pads and orchestral and guitars, etc. Seemingly random and complex presets with names that don’t necessarily describe the sound don’t really interest me as much.
Where would you recommend I start learning about sound design? As in, what the hell is shape, symmetry, hard sync, analog, phase, envelopes, rate, depth, etc etc... I'm randomly toying with everything but at this point it feels like wandering in the dark. Hard to understand how I can get to the sound I'm looking for and might go faster if I have some guidance. Thanks for the vid :)
