Learn Onshape: Threads Feature 

Yea the custom features threads are pretty great and I use that all the time. If I want to 3D print threads I usually draw my own ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WkhUtFPze_s.html For internal threads I use the hole feature and make them threaded holes ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H58oY2cmn7I.html its still not visible in the model so function the same way as the thread feature but still useful for drawing sheets

I think that its a good thing they added this. You gotta remember that this is a browser based CAD software and its pretty intensive to have actual threads on a part. Any time you run the feature script for threads it really bogs things down. So this new feature works well for drawing sheets and you can have it in an assembly. Just like the threaded holes it uses the outer diameter so it works fine if you want to use the thread mate, you just don't see the threads since this is only cosmetic.

@@MakerLessons but i would never use their version over the community version. Someone has already made a bolt and nut threader program for onshape i just feel like this feature is underwhelming comparatively to manually doing it or using the program made by a customer.

And don't get me wrong i absolutely love onshape i just think they dropped the ball on this feature and i hope they add a completed version to it

For sure but have you tried putting that on a drawing sheet? It looks a mess and you can't really dimension it cleanly.

@@MakerLessons just watched that video actually. Very helpful. Was so much easier when I was in college and had access to Solidworks. This is a lot of work lol
