Guys the numbers in your language sounds similar to this because the current names of numbers in counting sysetm is largely influenced by Persian in many languages due to the mighty influence of the Great Persian Empire and Persian rulers. Hence, the numbers sound very very similar and familiar in most European and almost all Indian languages.

@yourmajesty1361

***** There are no "formal" and "informal" numbers. Use standard Persian numbers and everybody will understand it. 15 = pânzdah [پانزده] 16 = šânzdah [شانزده] 17 = hefdah [هِفدَه] 18 = hejdah [هِجدَه] Note most of the numbers in this video are pronounced with a Tehrâni accent. Here's a short explanation about this accent: "The main feature of it is that its speakers are inured, when they speak to change the long vowel â[آ] to u(او), like "Tehrân"[تهران] and "Tehrun"[تهرون], "Irâni"[ایرانی] and "Iruni"[ایرونی]. The colloquial language has no vast distinctions with the standard Persian, for example a sentence in standard Persian: Emruz mixâham asbsavâri konam[امروز می‌خواهم اسبسواری کنم] which in the colloquial language would be so: Emruz mixâm assavâri konam."

@PersianPod101
@PersianPod101 10 лет назад
Piruz Pârsi Xorâsâni Hi Piruz Pârsi Xorâsâni, Thank you for the great explanation. I just have one question! Do you mean the word "informal" refers to the "Tehrani" accent here? I thought that "Formal" can also mean "Written", & "Informal" may refer to the "Spoken" language, which is the difference between using "A" when writing, and "U" when talking in Persian. Thank you. Thanks for the Persian lesson. For 56, why did you say 'panja o shesh'? In the beginning of the video, 6 was 'shish' so why did it change? Also, I though that if 'o' follows a vowel, then it changes to 'vo'. So 56 should really be 'panja vo shish'. Is this correct?
