This video is the perfect complement to Paula's series of videos on the imperative tense. Thia one does not have any complicated grammer in it but rather is pure speaking practice. For anybody who has not already seen them, I highly recommend Paula's treatment of the topic and the videos recommended in her comment. She has a play list with all her videos on the imperative so you can watch them one after another. What is good about this video is that she mixes things up and has both positive and negative commands all in the same video. This is one that I will practice many times. Paula you are my favorite part of Fridays and I always try to practice esch of your new videos almost every day for a week. This week will be a good chance to review all your great videos on the imperative.

Siempre es bueno volver a revisar los puntos gramaticales más básicos. Hay muchos estudiantes que se sienten estancados entre el nivel intermedio y avanzado. Voy a intentar hacer algunos videos para ayudarlos a salir de ese estancamiento. Muchas gracias. Amen 🙏🏻

La madre de mi marido ha cogido la COVID 19 con forma muy grave entonces cómo sería la buena respuesta : Le dije a mi marido que tú madre no muere o muriera o muriria. Paula has embraced the idea of teaching spanish by immersion. The idea is to get you to start thinking in spanish. Some of her early videos including the videos on the imperative mode listed in her pinned comment have a lot more of Paula speaking in English. One of the reasons I love those old videos is that Paula has such a beautiful Colombian accent when she speaks English. Paula has been focusing on more advanced material. I couldn't understand many of her videos very well at first but I really enjoy going back and watching her older videos that I had seen up to a year ago. Now I watch them and say oh wow, I get it now. I enjoyed reading your comment and hope you will continue to be a member of the community.
I'm picking up a pattern that to make a *_negative_* imperative statement, the subjunctive is used, preceded bu _no._ But how is the affirmative made?? For example: No hablEs en frances! (Don't speak in French!) but how would I say (positively / affirmatively) _Speak Spanish!_ to a 2nd person (tu form?) - I am confused
Yes!! The negative imperative uses the subjunctive. Now, for the affirmative informal one (tú) you would say “Habla español”. You have 2 options to form it: 1. Conjugate the verb to the present indicative for “tú” and drop the final “s” 2.
