+Petra P. His pronunciation of "älg" is completely wrong, actually. The letter Ä/ä has the same vowel sound as the vowel sound in "hat", I have no idea why he pronounces it like an A. The other phrases sound correct, though.
Beaah I was under the (disappointing) impression that ‘ä’ and ‘e’ are the same sound in Swedish; is that not the case? Also, what’s the deal with the ‘a’ sound - is it a long [aar] type of sound as found in Norwegian, or a shorter one?
@@Floral_Green no, it's not the case. Ä and E is different. I think theres videos here on yt that describes it. What do you mean with the 'a' sound? As in the single letter? It's a short sound. Like the English word "ah" sort of.
I've been learning from memrise and duolingo but nothing beats this video. your pronunciation, the way you repeat it, and your character! makes learning so much more easier! thank you for making this series!
Agreed. It's way harder to learn a language without feeling like you're speaking with/to a person. It's nice to have someone teaching casually instead of like a robot. I could buy a book and do much more than the other Swedish videos. This guy is offering just what I need.
From his videos alone, Sweden looks like such a beautiful country. What a privilege it would be to live there! Nice people, breathtaking nature, and such a melodic language- and so easy for an English-speaker!. And I am in love with the history and culture of this country. Well, anyway, lovely video. Thank you for helping with pronunciation of Swedish phrases))
Listen, and relisten and break down to sounds like little kids here in America are taught. Listen for the phonetic sounds. For instance You're welcome is varsagod, and it sounds like wash a goat. Also, Good bye sounds like Hey door:D hejda . Now the spelling/ writing no help there, but just to speak it just listen for the sounds. Both of these my Swedes approved that I am understandable with my breaking it down for things tactic. Tack means thanks it sounds like tic tack candy.
Im learning Swedish because that language is beautiful and my boyfriend comes from Sweden. Im 14 and I have really big interests in the language. thank god being German helps a little. thank you :D
Diese Sprache ist echt schön, versuche sie auch seit nem halben Jahr zu lernen (leider kaum Fortschritte). Die Aussprache mit dem gerollten "R" ist finde ich etwas schwer :[
I found out I'm half Scandinavian and half Korean. My grandmother Anita teach me numbers in Swedish but now I can't remember 😕 I like your bubbly attitude!!
Hey, I am from Romania but i work in tourism and starting with least year i have met many swedish. I have two swedish friends with wich i speak often but lately i started to see so many good news about Sweden and i started to search more informations and how the language actually sounds and i find it veeeery funny, so i decide to learn it, this is how i came over your videos. I can make many connections with the other languages i know so, i am expecting a fast progress, also, thanks to your good videos! Keep making them! :)
Thanks a lot for the lessons, they're really clear and concise! As a Portuguese speaker, I feel that learning Swedish is really challenging, but English has helped me a lot, some words and the sentence order can be really similar sometimes. I would like to see some more videos of you... you're doing a nice job :)
I have just started learning basic Swedish and am moving to Uppsala later this year. Of all the beginner / basic useful Swedish videos I have watched online this series and channel is by far the best and easiest to understand. Thank y... I mean, tack så mycket! :)
I was in Sweden for a couple of hours, but that was enough for me to fell in love with this country. And now (because of you) I realised that I want to learn swedish. Maybe it'll be easier than learning english ^^
Swedish Phrase is so interesting to me. I will try to learn it. It helps me to read your subtitle Swedish phrase to understand. Thumb up.. You are the best teacher!
I started to study Swedish and after Korean so I discovered that Swedish is like my natural language in front Korean so I don't have any problems to speak understand or write Swedish
Guys I was watching the Avicii(rip) film and at one moment he spoke in Swedish..since then I’m obsessed with this amazing language. I’m a 21years old African girl and am amazed
Hi, I love these thanks for making them. I am really enjoying learning Swedish. I like it when you say the Swedish and the English (then repeat) before moving onto next word/ phrase. so I can listen while I am doing something something else.
ahh, this was such a great video! I recently made a Swedish friend and am trying to learn the language. Duolingo is a little hard for me because of the pronunciation, but this helped loads! Cheers!
Thank you for your videos! I study Swedish on my own and have no chances to hear a good pronunciation - except for the CD audio of my TeachYourself . Tack så mycket!
OK, I just subscribed. I really like the phrases you choose, they are easy to remember and they give you a good base for further learning, I speak several languages and I think one of the most important things are question tags and you use quite a lot :) Thank you!
Hello Erik, tack! with love, from India :-) I started watching from your 5th video. Have a Swedish friend from Stockholm, so I'm just learning for fun!
I learnt Swedish around Goteborg so your accent is a bit strange to me :-) although I already understand this video I really like your style, it's like actually having a conversation with a Swede who knows your from England and so does the body language and slow, clear pronunciation so you can learn. Thanks very much, I've subscribed.
super Erik , i 'm trying to study your language by myself , using internet and the help of a Swedish friends living near Sundsvall . Today must be my 1st day in Stockholm but i missed my journey for an ankle distorsion ..... good videos , i understand something after studerat 2 months
I just found your channel and I am enjoying it a lot! Just starting to learn some words coz I´ll be in Sweden by next August if I am selected to get a scholarship to study there. Keep up this great work! You´re a a great teacher! Thanks! Obrigado!, I am from Brazil! Hugs!
hej - really appreciate all the work you've put into these videos, SO helpful as I learn svenska in preparation for my move to Sverige this autumn. God help this poor American with the pronunciation, though ;) tack så mycket!
Du är så underbart charmig och stilig! Hade lätt gått ut med dig. Ville bara säga det trots att jag är en ung man. (21) Skulle visa en vän hur man pratade svenska och kom förbi din video. Har aldrig blivit så fångad på länge. Hehe bra jobbat!
Lotte ily W. Welkom Lotte! Ik leer Zweeds al 5maanden ofso maar het gaat best wel goed. Ik zou vooral NIET beginnen met grammatica, maar gewoon met woorden, zinnen , (letters) en de uitspraak. Dit kan je oefenen door bijvoorbeeld het nieuws (Als video online) na te zeggen, zo herinner je de uitspraak beter. Hej då!
Riana Prins Hoi Riana! Zweeds is natuurlijk ook een prachtig taal! Ik zou eerst beginnen met de cultuur. Eerst daar wat over leren en dat je daarnapas echt met de taal gaat zitten oefenen. En de video's van Erik Elder zijn ook erg handig ;) Veel succes! Hälsningar, Miran.
