When you start teaching English online, most of your classes will be one to one. You will need to be prepared to meet the needs of your student, provide him or her with support and ensure the student has an enjoyable time in class. However, it is not an easy feat. I have been teaching English online with individual students for nearly 12 years and while no class is the same, every class follows the same structure.
In this video I go through 4 guiding principles that will help you plan the perfect one to one class. I go through how to add variety to your classes, how to start and end the class and how to keep the student coming back for more.

how lucky you are that you're a native english speaker. you have job opportunitites whereever you want to work. we poor strugglers language learners, we study hard over the years but nothing comes out. a relative of mine was a keen learner of english. it was before 2000s and the only chance we could study english was from the frozen text books, there was no internet, no online practice opportunities, no apps etc .he bought english book sets prepared by oxford-turkey coopeartion, he studied hard, and the time came, he came face to face with a tourist and the girl was standing there, and he asked 'are you coke?' :))) that was the only piece of language we could use at that time, are you coke , are you cake, are you cigarette...?etc. 😂🙂🙃

That's a funny anecdote. You're right, I'm extremely lucky and privileged to have been born where I was born, I recognise that. However, it is my strong belief that both native speakers and non-native speakers can make excellent teachers.

What is wrong with doing a warm up activity at the beginning of a lesson? I wouldn´t start with something difficult in the first 10 minutes

I think what I meant to say was not to leave an important or complicated task till the end of the class.

I'm constantly fiddling with the audio, I'm always worried it's too high. I guess this time I've put it too low.

I don't understand how you can ask a non English speaking student roll play if they don't comprehend English? If the shoe were on the other foot, I wouldn't understand what the person was saying. Where do you begin with the student?

What if you gave them the other half of the dialogue? You could practice it step by step.
