Thank you so much. I have been playing golf for 16 years, many lessons, etc. You have made it so simple. This was the best golf lesson I've ever had and it didn't cost me anything.

I was confused when I first got a lesson for One Plane swing. But after sticking with it (1 year of work), I went from an 8 hdcp to a 1-2 hdcp. I very rarely miss fairways with my driver and my iron shots have a penetrating ball flight. For the non-believers between one and two plane, the big difference is with the one plane you initiate the downswing by uncoiling your torso because you are already on plane- with two plane you have to make that 'leg drive' move to get back down to the ball and on plane. It is simply a matter of preference and desire to go for consistency or power. I lost some distance with one plane, but my consistency is off the charts and I still play the 'tips' with the big boys. It was VERY hard to make the switch (because I was so used to driving my legs which really screws up the one plane downswing... but I am glad I did.

This was great, I been tryin to find out about "what should you have before moving out?" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Penamillorn Peerless Prevalence - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? It is an awesome exclusive guide for discovering how to learn an effective golf swing method without the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my co-worker got great success with it.

Josh, I have been studying Jim Hardy's lessons for the past 6 months suggested by a golf buddy and it has changed my game in an amazing way. Your instruction is spot on and very clearly shown and stated. The only thing I would add is to make sure on move #1 that you keep your hips very still until you are ready to transition to move #2. Awesome job and thank you.

Thanks Josh, I have struggled with my swing for years, having never taken a formal lesson. With just one look at this video, I am now crushing the ball with amazing consistency, something I never thought possible. The key was the plate throwing analogy, which really got my swing on the correct plane every time I executed properly these two steps. Incredible difference in coiling power too. Thanks again.

Great video Josh. I can't tell you how much this has simplified my swing. As being a baseball player all my life this has really helped me flatten out my club at the top of my swing. Which has led me to hitting the ball in the center of the face more consistently.

This video may have changed my golfing life! I have been playing for twenty-five years and, like most of my friends, tinkered with different techniques without success. I found your very clear instruction to be easy to execute on the driving range and very much enjoyed both the improved consistency as well as the power in my shots. Love the plate drill. Thanks!

This is my first comment on youtube. This is simply the best video I came across. My back swing was coming too much on the inside and I had a problem understanding how it should feel not to come inside. My video reference was youtube "Luke Donald - slow motion golf swing" but I couldn't break it down as clearly as this video did to understand how it should feel and all come together.

Wow! Can't believe I just read your comment/reply to this video... I too questioned the two aspects you refer to as I watched it. Really glad I see your comment actually, I freeze-framed myself at the range today and notice my right arm at the top is a little narrower than 90 deg. And as for keeping the elbow away from the body... well that just feels like it's disconected and leaking your accuracy. I was already modelling my swing on Kuchar! This just reassures me! Nice one Joey.

Josh does a good job and a very good teacher but Jim Hardy's CD goes into greater detail on angles and shows all lines and positions... notice after position 1 there is a very slight rotation to get to position 2 which the CD explains in great detail.....I always had a 2 plane swing and played ok but you if you didn't have the timing and correct rotation at the bottom of the swing that day, hello hooks .... the 1 plane swing is awesome and makes golf fun again.....best $$$$ you'll ever spend.

My daughter lost 1 year of golf competition due to a painful inflammation between her left shoulder close to the neck area on her back that would not go away, MRI was negative thankfully. Notice that flip motion on step # 2 in this video, instructor is rotating the entire left shoulder blade. Thanks to a golf chiropractor who works with many PGA players communicated that my daughter's left shoulder blade must remain stable at all times. My daughter works with Chris O'Connell from The Plane Truth, you can obtain the 1 plane swing by cocking your left wrist instead of flipping / rotating the entire left shoulder blade (right hand players) before you reach the step #2 position. At the # 2 position of this video, your club face should be slightly higher / above your hands. Your club will set square every time.

1)If you break your wrists or have wrong arm action, you club shaft is not in-line with your hands. 2) The purpose of swinging on one plane is largely to connect you left arm (for a right-hander) to the body.If you spend any time with the swing and execute a fully connected motion, you would realize the effectiveness of the method 3) As I write this, Matt Kuchar just won at memorial. He has now won 6 times and is on a particular tear this year. Hogan was one of the greatest one-planers to date

Does it work for driver swing ? Do you have a similar video for a driver swing ? I have tried it with my irons and hybrid and it seems to straighten out my iron shot. My driver is still messed up as I cannot visualize that driver clubface being parallel with my spine and not to worry about the it is too closed of a clubface. Also I tend to hit the ground before the ball a lot. Perhaps it is the setup.

At :34 Josh states keeping the club on it's plane would create a short backswing, and you couldn't hit the ball very far. Not so. I hit the ball much further swinging the club face square to it's path and on it's original plane...much further. It is true that the backswing will be shorter. My hands barely reach waist high at the top. But my nominal playing 8 iron (75-80%) is 150 yds, dead straight, and I'm 65 yrs. With extra energy and a center hit, my 8 iron goes 165-170. The beauty is the simplicity. I've learned with experience that lifting the arms in order to get the club high, and rotating the arms in order to keep the club on plane while lifting high, are both unnecessary and way over complicate the swing.
@JavierValenzuela76

I think this is pretty good analysis however why not stand up with better posture for one plane swing , makes since to me to have more upright and better posture. In other word better spine angle, and take club back same way and then have club more over right shoulder than you show. Bryson De Chambeau is good example of standing more upright and perfect one plane swing. I'm trying to learn this myself, and trying to get away from cupping my wrist and flat swing. Thanks for the video
@ieyasutokagawa5605
@ieyasutokagawa5605 6 лет назад
He defines the one plane swing as coinciding to shoulder angle. If the shoulders are flatter, then the club has to be way flat, behind the torso flat. Which is not impossible. Some pretty good women players are flexible enough to do that.

Can you address this? What of very overweight men? I think the posture has to be a little more "squatty" in order to offset the belly in front for balance and to have room to swing freely in front of the belly. More bent over at the hips which makes it difficult to turn the hips forward. It's a recipe for Early Extension. Perhaps a one plane type swing is not appropriate for those that are very overweight? Maybe a 2 Plane keeping the club out front would be more appropriate?

Herringhammer1, Im referring to the step #2. Regarding your step #1 comment, the instructor's shoulder is steep but the club face is square to his spine angle, it looks shut but in reality it's square. If the instructor stood taller his club face (toe) would not look shut.

It looked to me like he sucked the club back behind him and he even said he did! Like someone else said, so disconnected. You can get the club back bang on plane by rotating the core, shoulders and arms all together and stay connected which is a much sounder way of taking the club back. I stopped the video early but can't wait to hear what tricks are required to get everything back in front for impact!

i don't get his right elbow on the take away at all! Im a converted one planer and the way he demonstrates the takeaway, I would think the untucked right elbow would push your left arm out as you are trying to keep it connected! For me? Best way to envision a one plane swing is to swing club at chest level and see how uncomplicated the set/rotation/right elbow is. Do that exact same move only bent over. Took me a couple of years but it turned me into a real golfer

Crossing the line slightly at the top of the swing is not necessarily a bad position, Nicklaus and a young Tiger Woods crossed the target line and were outstanding ball strikers.

Don't understand. The left arm (if straight) is always in the same plane as the shoulders as it is attached to one of them. Three points in space define a plane and there are only 3 points. I assume you also include the target?

There are two things in the video that are not exactly correct. First of all the angle of the right arm at the top does not need to be 90 degrees or more. In fact most one plane swingers will have significantly less than 90 degrees flexion at the top. Also, creating space by keeping the right elbow away from the body in the backswing is not absolutely necessary so long as you have the flexibility to keep your left arm some semblance of straight. See any swing vid of Matt Kuchar for reference.

Great drill? You can even practice it while lining up at the buffet table.

Problem is that with this flatter swing you can never hit it uber high like Jack Nicklaus. But with an upright swing you can still hit it low. Also the flatter swing is harder on your back.

One plane flat is easy... it's bringing the club head down from that position and not getting the club head stuck behind is the hard part... shallow hits .. push and pulls 🙈🙈

Question to all golfers - I have been playing golf for 23 years and finally a 6 handicap, but still at this point cannot understand why we cannot swing the club on one plane take back and downswing? Why do we have to complicate the swing with one plane/two plane/etc????

Because your wrist doesn't allow you to. You would break your left wrist eventually!
