1:40) Ignore Backface Wont cut through the model\\ 3:00) Z - will delete last made cut Shift Z = Redo 3:30) Press Enter to make the Cut But making a cut doent separate it from the model, all it does it add edges into the already existing geometry 3:50) Otherways to make cuts 5:55) Deleting faces that are cut off with “Delete Faces” enabled 6:13) Extract Faces = Whatever is cut, is now separate from orig mesh and also moved away a bit 6:50) BUT it is still one object in “Object Mode” 7:20) How to make cuts by snapping to 90 degree angles
thx for showing the tool settings. I was having a hard time bc multi-cut had delete faces checked and was deleting the wrong portion of model. thx again! :)
"today we cut a cube". Congratulations. Well done. May be its also the only primitive object where the autodesk QA has tested their tool. Now go along. Try to cut some more complex geometry. Try to cut long thin faces, like it's common in architectural visualization. Then this tool starts to DRIVE YOU CRAZY! It is not recognizing edges when you are only see a small section of the edge in your view. Then you need to zoom out or try dozens of different view angles till it checks, which edge/face whatever i want to connect. This tool is so far away from being production ready....so it fits quiet nice in the mess that Autodesk did to Maya. That being said, i'm a Maya User since V1.0 in '98...
I have a different problem that I cant solve. I have a plane with a hole on it created with a cylinder. Now when I smooth the hole gets messed up completely. Is there a way to cut a series of faces around the hole in order to keep the hole intact when I smooth? Obviously multi-cut and insert edge loops tool dont help at all.
For some reason my cut into going all around the cube when holding down ctrl to get a loop, ignore back facing is also turned off can someone tell me whats wrong?
