The saying "Watch your Ps and Qs" came from typesetting as the lower-case letters p and q are easily confused since they are backwards. In a larger print shop, the job of cleaning and putting the used letters back in the type storage drawer was given to an apprentice with the admonition, "Watch your Ps and Qs."

the disc is called a platen and the press takes its name - a platen press. another oddity is that it was called a fount of type and fonts were referred to as typefaces or jst faces. impression for 'normal' work was to print the characters exactly with no embossing, if required, any level of embossing was possible as in the scoring rule - there were also cutting rules and perforating rules - these all were unpopular with the printers as they wrecked the rollers rubber coatings!! - yup - i was a letterpress printer more than 50 yrs ago!!

"There's not automation here". Clearly there is a lot of automation in that complex machine that does at least 3 simultaneous tasks with one simple input from the operator.

I believe the producers of this cable TV technology show is running out of subjects to cover. Any one subject can only be covered once. I mean once you show how spark plug is made, it wouldn't matter if on another episode they highlighted how a diesel glow plug is made whete there is technically no difference between the two manufacturing process. So to reiterate. There's only so much technology in the World that can be showcased in a show like HOW IT'S MADE. It might be that we are just seeing the dregs of relatively uninteresting items to be manufactured. Yeah. The ceramic fake bamboo light kind is scraping the bottom of the barrel of interesting subjects. But I do not care. Just as long as this show keeps digging up new things to show how they are made and manufactured no matter how mundane the subject is.

That's not paint, it's glaze.

The thing with that utterly ugly fake bamboo light fixture is that it could have easily be done with plastic and still look the same after painted. It looks cheap and tacky. It would take less time to make an actual bamboo fixture, it is not like bamboo is hard to find.

You cannot have a very unique it is either unique or not but saying the final result is very unique is incorrect English
