His clinch work is so crucial. He’s also got a very good sense of where the ref is. He will clinch on the side the ref can’t see. This tricks his opponent into thinking a break is imminent which drops their guard meanwhile on the side the ref can see he keeps his hand free to so the ref thinks they are working out and he’s free to strike. He’s hurt many guys with sneaky shots like that. Froch was totally undone by this one tactic
Great analysis, Andre Ward is one of my favorite fighters, ring iq is top notch, Shakur also likes using that stiff jab when leaving it out there to create distance/control opponent
Andre ward is a boxer real boxing fans know how great he is. Nothing flashy small suddle things that if you don't know what you are looking at you won't appreciate. Ward is a generational great
Andre was one of the most complete boxers ever. Such a beautiful, intelligent, proactive style. Compared to Mayweather he should be ranked higher. He was always the good boy and rather modest. Compared to Mayweather: same skill level and ring IQ but more offensive and risky, more of a fighter. Up there with the absolute best ever.
Boxing has such great tactics, fundamentals, and skills that you don't get from other martial arts… I love this channel because it shows them in great detail to the point you can see other martial arts or other combat sports use… To not consider boxing a martial art is a disservice especially if someone like Burce Lee found it to be essential to his way of fighting…
His mind and ring iq is top shelf no ego does what it takes to win whether anyone likes it or not ... styles make fights he could adapt to any style and appy any style
Ward is one of my top 10. An all terrain fighter like duran, but not as much of a finisher or as slick. Phenomenal fight iq and skills, considering that he didn't have any great physical qualities like speed, power, height, or reach. A perfect example of the fundamentals
He is one of my favorite boxers along with Mayweather and others from the past… Shakur Stevenson is a modern-day version of him in a way... That's another boxer I like
I think you have put into a vid why I liked this boxer so much but forget about that, this video style is amazing. I'm just training to lose weight and be better but this style of vid makes me hyped to watch and disect other fights & training sessions. Maybe to add to my own style... Subb'd
Skiller Boxing has taught me bares man and improved my boxing IQ and strategies and cos of that I want you lot to make a video Breakdown of Terrance Crawford, Safe 🏆🥊
Yeah he really showed that huge ass boxing IQ of his during his fights with kovolev he was struggling the first match yet was gifted with a robbery then during the rematch ward was playing the nuttcracker all night long with kolovev’s nuts without the ref giving any kind of shit not one point reduction nor a disqualification and this is a lot of people’s king 👌🏼✌🏼💯
As canelo would say …take it easy my friend….golota bowe were flagrant low blows …ward kovalev 2 body shots was an executed strategy extending from the first fight….before the finishing body shots, Kovalev was rocked by a shot upstairs which lead to him abandoning his guard inside and slumped over open for the body shots.
@@PUGiLLiZM ward was good I’m actually not taking anything away from him believe it or not it just bugs me how people want to make this man out to be something that he’s not the truth of the matter is he was good back in the day sure Idk about now since truthfully he’s already wasted away his best years after retiring so early in his career at age 32 I believe but before retirement he was dominating up until facing kovolev he struggled in both fights all you have to do is go back and watch the fights to see what I’m saying is true especially in the 2nd fight where ward was landing intentional low blows the entire fight without any kind of warning or anything at all
@@PUGiLLiZM then after kovolev he got out before the younger hungrier up and comers could challenge him like bivol, beterbiev, and all the others as well I’m not speaking from hate, racism, making up fake biased bs, or anything like that I’m just speaking straight up facts I respect everyone who shows respect back especially to all of these fighters willing to risk their lives stepping into the ring to entertain us all I’m saying is keep same energy and keep things 💯 we need to keep these boxers to a higher standard and the same standards instead of only certain ones I like plenty of fighters like canelo, crawford, plant, loma, Stevenson and others but I’m not gonna give them a pass patting them on the ass whenever they aren’t doing whatever they need to be doing that shots not gonna fly with me
@angelgarza3981 wards hit grab strategies didn't work for plant vs Benavides plant has no stamina. Ward is a alltime great the first fight with krusher is close could go either way. 2nd fight he beat that man's body like a drum krusher wasn't Winning and it wasn't even close. Yes he is one of our kings who is yours?
Andre Ward's book, Killing the Image, is worth reading. I don't want to spoil it, but he was basically boxing with only one good arm, which is crazy considering what he accomplished.
Everyone knows that... he had a shoulder surgery. It happens to a lot of boxers. Punching builds the front muscles of the shoulder but not the back. A lot of fighters have the same problem.
Love this style but how would you deal with the rear hook to the body when having your leading arm out? Especially if the opponent has a longer reach as well, I understand that the rear hook has to travel a greater distance as well so you have more time to react but surely the rear hook to the body is a threat.
@@bhargavgayan4531 Yeah, we tried contacting them to see if we can find a solution, but got no reply. Hopfully we find a way to make it work, cause it would be great to do breakdowns on all those old school boxers
Running is also a part of fighting. Backing up to draw opponents in, make them think they know what you're doing, then switch up instantaneously. Of course, I wouldn't be able to tell you that's what he was doing, but the more you know
I have a lot of good things to say about Ward but he fights on the edge of the rules and often crosses the line. In his fights against Kovalev, he resorted to fouling a lot and he was just lucky the ref didn’t penalize him for it. The low blows against Kovalev were very egregious.
Fair enough. Some of his tactics are on the limits of the rules, some bend them a bit, but the referee allows it, so he takes advantage. Then its up to you guys to decide if thats being smart or dirty, anyways appreciate the comment💪
Ward beats up and hurts opponents with his jab/lead left hand due to him actually being left handed. He fights orthodox with his power up front. Ward made extremely good fighters look like amateurs. Ward is one of the most skillful fighters of all time Shakur also uses the long guard to control his opponents but the referees always complain and tell him to stop leaving out there.😂
I will have love him to fight Bivol, Gvodyk and Beterbiev to properly measure his IQ coz to me he lost the first to Krusher and the second fight was low blows after low blows
