I love it when Lena acts out the meaning of the words. So entertaining. She is lovely!

These are all common verbs that are useful to know. But the sample sentences are _much_ too complicated for a beginner who is just learning these verbs. They contain advanced grammatical patterns and the verbs are conjugated in many different ways in various tenses ...

Szabolcs Horvát - absolutely agree. I was very disappointed to see the verb was in a different form in the example, too confusing for a beginner

Agree. Eg, the example used for "magyaráz" is "elmagyarázza". Prefix added and definite article ending activated

Most of the infinitive forms have NI at the end (lenni / menni / jönni etc) and, lesz / vesz are the stem, which is used with the third person singular pronouns, but I think these are irregular verbs because van means is and is used with the 3rd person singular pronouns, while vannak is used with the 3rd person plurals, so they don’t have the ‘stem’ vagy that’s used for the other 4 which is still different from the infinitive form lenni (én vagyok = I am) but, the verb to be tends to be an irregular verb in all languages, to be honest, and also, OK / OM are some of the endings for the I-form (can also be EK / EM etc, depending on the verb) and, OD / ED are some of the endings for the 2nd person singular form, and the stem in regular verbs is usually the word without the infinitive endings such as NI or ANI or ENI etc - I’m beginner level in Hungarian, but I find these easy, I can easily remember most of the new Hungarian words after only seeing them once or twice or thrice, and I already memorized most of the verb endings for the present tense, and I started studying Hungarian grammar about 2 or 3 days ago, and it’s good to load it all in, as a beginner, to learn as many different forms as as many new words as possible, and to keep revising the words that were previously learned every few days, until they can be remembered automatically, and watching lots of vocab videos at least twice or thrice per session, every few days, until all words can be remembered fast, especially if one wants to learn a language fast! But saying to give always good (adni = to give aka the infinitive form with the NI ending / mindig = always / jó = good) just makes no logical sense, so the word that means is, van, should be used, plus the example isn’t right, because giving is always wrong, and nada should ever be given to ppl for free, and all should work hard to get some dough, but only to buy true necessities like food, and only 2nd hand items that are suitable and truly necessary should be bought! So yea, I cannot understand why the verb to be isn’t used for the third person when saying something like that, it really makes so sense, so I will always use it, even if they say it’s ‘grammatically incorrect’ and, in truth, it is more incorrect not to use it, besides, if the word van (is) isn’t used, then why does it even exist! 😂

@@Antares2F There are some good beginner lessons through them and others. I've learned over time that submersing yourself into a culture and living amongst its people are really the best way to learn a language. I'm hoping to get my family ready to spend some time abroad to help acclimate ourselves ahead of any possible permanent move.

In this video the third person conjugations are used that's why van is shown instead of lenni in this video and in hungarian "ni" is the suffix to make a verb infinitive but only the verb to be has an irregular conjugations in the language that would be the reason you were confused‚i hope it helps

Dear Monica Rivera, Thank you very much for your comment! The difference between kedvelem and kedvelek is the transitive and intransitive conjugation. Kedvelem is used with a definite noun and article. For ex: Kedvelem a gulyást. = I like the goulash. Kedvelek is always used without or with indefinite article. Kedvelek valamit. = I like something. I'm confused as the very first verb was van and was said to mean to be and then the example was the cat is in the garden how is this to be?? Also I asked my wife who is Hungarian and she said van doesn't mean to be at all. How can somebody claiming to be teaching Hungarian make a glaring mistake like this?
@uniquechannelnames
@uniquechannelnames 5 лет назад
But van does mean to be? You can conjugate it to like "vagyok" which means "I am". So a sentence using a version of van would be "én Lena vagyok" which means "I am Lena". Or the formal "how are you" is "Hogy van?". Van is like "I am/you are/he is/they are". That's as far as I undersand it. én vagyok te vagy ő van mi vagyunk Ti vagytok ők vagytok I am You are He/She is We are You (plural) are They areo
@Dimitris5353453
@Dimitris5353453 4 года назад
It means "in" , right?
@maddyg3208
@maddyg3208 2 года назад
The verb "to be" is "lenni". Van means "is". The 25 Hungarian verbs are given in the third person singular (the word stem) but then incorrectly translated as the infinitive form of the equivalent English word. So, yes, it's confusing.
