I am new to embroidery so watched Sarah’s video on types of needles and what you use them for - it was really helpful I highly recommend it. Having said that all of her videos that I have watched so far are great. Just need 48 hour days to watch them all lol We are very lucky to have her x

Hello Cathy, welcome to the wonderful world of embroidery. I’m sure you will enjoy it immensely. And Sarah’s videos are a great way of learning and building your stitching abilities as well as providing lovely project ideas. I’ve been stitching for about 60 year and I’m still learning new things from her - so, enjoy the ride. It’s going to be great fun!

Thanks Sarah for your time. I’ll check out your ‘back of the work’ video next. Quite new to stitching though many years ago I did counted cross stitch and tried embroidery I haven’t done either for maybe 30 some years. Nice to refresh my skills now that I’m retired and have time to create in threads and fabric. Have an amazing week 🫶🏼

I have found that I really enjoy using DMC Cotton Perle #8 for my slow stitching. I also use DMC 6 strand floss, but cotton perle is fast becoming my favorite. Thank you for this video Sarah. I am really enjoying doing my "strip" of sampler !!!

I really need to pick up some perle cotton! I want to try adding it in. But I haven’t had time to go shopping. I think DMC perle is what my local store carries, so thanks for being specific!

Hi guys out there in youtube land! can anyone out there recommend some channels where people simply show us their work and is NOT a tutorial or for beginners? I would really like to see what other people are doing, or have completed without having to sit through an hour of them going on about how to make a seed stitch. if you dont know how to make a particular stitch I recommend Sarah , she is my go-to

Have you tried to google ‘photos’ of textile art? Or another key word. I do ‘photos’ a lot when I’m wanting to see something specific.

I love how those stitches look on the back. Could you do that on the front? Also, could you address 'Redwork?' Is that a different kind of embroidery? Love your videos!

Thank you Sarah. I've always wanted to try backstitch to make a word. That's what our sampler is for right? Ill be doing it today then. Happy stitching 💜

Thanks Sarah. I struggle with keeping backstitch stitches the same length as they seem to get bigger as I go along, even though it us a stitch I have done iften. Maybe I need to slow it down.

If you use DMC for back stitching, how many strands do you usually use?

I want to know this as well because as a beginner I have more floss thread than pearla type

I love the variegated thread you are using Sarah! A bit off topic, but that pretty scarf you are wearing in the video reminds me of the moose we have back home here in Canada. 💜

Would this method of starting the stitch and cutting the knot be good if you are making a quilt block with embroidery?
@MaidMirawyn
@MaidMirawyn 7 месяцев назад
I think that would depend on whether it’s a quilt for use or display. If it’s going to be used as a blanket, I would stick to a knot, especially if we’re talking machine washing.
