I have to learn to be patient. My welds are just globs. It’s hard to get a hand technique for me. I’m going to look for some scrap metal to practice on.

Some humble yet important corrections! This will be embarrassing! 😢 Sorry man but as this is a public channel and you are teaching welding techniques to your audience I feel obligated to put things right! Your stick out should be twice as long. Now with your short stick out it WILL create porosities/worms! Use a 3/4-1” stick out with flux core wire. Or even better - read on the wire box the recommendation by the manufacturer! Reason: the flux needs to be preheated before entering the weld pool otherwise nitrogen is trapped inside and when cooling down it wants to escape. Hence all your porosities. 😅 2) If you are between thicknesses (voltage settings) don’t go higher. Too high voltage (amps) also creates porosities/worms. Also: although flux core welding is somewhat less sensitive to rust etc than MIG/MAG (which is totally useless on uncleaned metals) it is far more sensitive than stick welding (with the correct pin) so… why not help your welding on the way by cleaning up properly before and between welds! I wish you would add that to the tutorial 😉 Kind regards Anders Sweden

"If it leaves a slag, you have to drag" f'n priceless wisdom right there! Dude you have basically unlocked what's problematic for most beginners (myself included) with a simple, common sense saying- position/distance are important but none of it matters if you're contaminating the joint and stacking on top of the slag that you just blew ahead of the puddle! That and your fill technique is a keeper- I'm sure others are out there, but most of the time these guys don't share how to recover from a blow-thru, they just say that you want to avoid them🤣- wish I had this video to reference a couple of years ago. Keep up the good work Coinsie!

The "star' method helps with some of my beginner's welding mistakes. Thanks for the explanation.

Avoiding making holes is a skill, so is filling them! I found through trial and error the star method seems the way to go, beef up the edges to take a hot bead. Seems with welding, every weld is added experience and skill, you are always learning better technique.

Really thin stuff can test your patience, when even a split second longer can blow right thru it. then you spend 10x as long repairing holes.

Flux core has a number on the label that , if it ends with a GS it is for single pass welding. I use both types single and multi pass.
