Hello out of the many many different video tutorials I've watched on RU-vid and elsewhere yours has been one of the most informative and useful tips that are exactly what a beginner or experienced face painter needs. Really good!!
I hope you give classes where you live because the calm and sweet nature of your voice makes me actually pay attention and I learned more in these couple of videos than I did at school.
Such a great comment, thank you! No, I don't give classes and if you knew me in person you might want to change your mind... I am not always calm and easy- going 😂
Awwwh what a sweet thing to say! I totally agree with what she said.. you were very helpful and taught me the different ways to think outside of the box :) so that I dont spend a lot of money with making my own stencils :)
I just bought some of the more complicated patterned stencils but after this I realize; of COURSE I can make my own simple ones! I used to cut rubber stamps all the time and the technique is very similar, cutting a stencil would be easier than that so I'm looking forward to making some unique stencils for the kids :-) Thanks for opening my eyes!
The oil bottle is brilliant, and I literally just tossed one in the recycling, and will use it for an event Thursday. perfect timing, thank you so much
Just starting out face painting and I love your videos. I learn so much from them, thank you for sharing. Eagerly waiting for video nr. 8 in this series.
So lovely of you, Maria. Video #8 will be delayed a bit because I was ill lately and didn't have much time to spend on my channel. But it's definitely coming in the next couple of months. Thank you so much for your support!
+Eufracina I am not lying to you: the simple shapes (butterfly, mermaid, skull, etc.) are really really easy to make. Give it a go and you'll be amazed! Thank you for your kind words!
I really enjoyed your video tutorials. Your information was presented in a clear and concise method. I watched every video and I am anxiously waiting for your next one. Thank you so much for sharing your talents and skill with me and others.
Thank you Michelle! Your kindness and support are really uplifting and encouraging! I get a lot of positive energy from viewers like you, so thanks again! 💖
Thank You Very Much!! Your Videos Are Very Helpful😀 You Make It Look So Easy!!! Thank You For Making Videos And Sharing Your Talent With Us💖☺️ I Love Your Videos✨
This was so helpful! I love all your videos, especially your tips and tricks one. They're all so incredibly helpful and you explain everything very thoroughly. Cant wait for your next video!
Hello Sophie. Thank you so much for your tutorials. I love to draw and I always wanted to learn how to face paint and learn which are the best paints and brushes etc. I am very happy I found your videos.
Great to hear! Painting on faces is a bit different than on paper or canvas but if you love to draw you will not find it terribly challenging to achieve good results quickly. Good luck!
amazing video!! i was wandering which kind of plastic they use for stencils, thank you very very much! you gave us so many other usefull informations :) where i can find the Face images you use for practice? I wasn't able to find them on google. Can't wait the next video!! I'll go to an event this we, would like to try so many new design s with my new splicakes! help! did you laminate them? I have a laminator. isn't the surface too smooth to paint on it? thanks!!
+Federica Gardini I will explain this in detail in my next video but here are a few hints for you 😉 Yes, they are laminated pictures. The plastic is very smooth, yes, but it works OK. Not great, but a decent and cheap alternative when no willing kids are around. Nothing replaces real skin though. Another little tip for you: look for "Natalie Portman bold" on Google images and you will find lots of good suitable images to print and practice on. She is so pretty and has a very regular face. Good luck for this weekend!
+Kamilla Mikkelsen I bought that one a long time ago. I would have made it myself if I knew how to do it back then 😉 Anyway, it's the "Show-off" stencil #23. I think I got it from Thefacepaintingshop in the UK but I just saw that it's out of stock right now. Here's the link so you can see in detail what it looks like: www.thefacepaintingshop.com/face-painting-Stencils-the-face-painting-shop-uk/ShowOff-Stencils-the-face-painting-shop?page=2
+Sfx Have a look here, they carry a good selection: www.thefacepaintingshop.com/Professional%20Face%20Painting%20Brushes/Loew-Cornell-Brushes-the-face-painting-shop
Hi Sophie I love all your videos as they are very informative and interesting. I wanted to ask what you use to attach to your stencils to get them to hang in your kit? I plan on getting a craft n go paint station and would like to hang the stencils across the top so that I can see them more easily and not have to sort them before I use them. Of course the inside of the craft n go is magnetic. Would you recommend attaching small magnets to each stencil? Thank you in advance for your time to answer this question.
I will post a video of my face painting kit in a couple of months and you will see how I do it. It's kind of hard to describe it here but basically I use some hook & look velcro tape. The soft side goes on one little corner of the stencil and the scratchy side is taped to the side of my table. I align the stencils I use throughout my event next to one another. The others stay in a pocket nearby. This works really great for me. I haven't tried it with magnets but I would assume that they might be hard to attach to the stencil - and would possibly fall off when you wash them...
Thanks for another good video that helps fill the void with information that's important and efficient to learn. So I should read the label of the paint to know if it has wax? Am I looking for the word 'wax' or could it be known as something else? Unless the websites who sell them have a phone number to call and ask, there's no way to know since we can't examine the label in advance of ordering. Otherwise, we're just taking people's word for which brands do or don't have wax in it.
You are already getting very very specific 😮That's right, you will find this info on the label. Yes, the word "wax" or "paraffin wax" will give the information that this type of paint is better for line work. Hard to say how to get this info directly. I guess that this is the kind of thing you learn with the experience but I can give you a few hints on the brands I know and use: Wax based: Wolfe FX, Diamond FX, Tag, Glycerin based: Mehron Paradise, FAB, Superstar, Hybrid: Kryolan, Cameleon You should also know that "wax based" paints also have Glycerin in their ingredient list too but it's not listed in the first line but further down the list. Glycerin based paints however have Glycerin within the first few ingredients in their list and no wax usually. You could ask the very kind people at SillyFarm.com about this. They sell tons of different brands of paints and could give you more info if you need it.
I keep hearing differing opinions, such as, "wax based is best for bases, and the 'creamy' ones are for line work." I'll just have to buy one color in each of the major brands and decide for myself. Thanks for the detailed explanation. No one else offers that. I think they abandoned their youtube channels after youtube cut their pay way down. Not worth it to them anymore.
As I said, money is not my motivation here, so I don't worry too much about that. I cannot imagine that one would find it easier to get clean and crisp lines with the creamier face paints but I am willing to keep an open mind. I am not the "face painting police" anyway... 😂
On faces I only recommend one kind of face paints: water based face paints just like the ones I use. Nothing else is appropriate for direct contact on the skin. I would recommend to use the brands Diamond FX or Wolfe FX because they have the best "stay on" qualities compared to other brands that lose their shine and brightness easily after a few hours. Hope this helps.
No, I think that they would be too thin and it would therefore be difficult to cut the design through them without ripping them apart. It would be also hard to then place them on the face flat enough and prevent the paint to get underneath and ruin the whole thing. But if you already have the plastic sheet at home, go ahead and try with one simple simple design. You might be able to make it work. Good luck!
+Marina Landau I only use water-based face paints. If you need more infos, you can watch this video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7YklPFc_Ees.html Hope this helps! 💙
I have high density sponge. It works well except on the rainbow split cake. What is the other kind? What brand /type of sponge do you use for rainbow split cakes? Having trouble with high density sponges using rainbow split cakes and stencils
That's funny because I find the high density sponges easier to use with the split cakes and the stencils. If you're having trouble, try the antibacterial ones but make sure you don't use too much water because they tend to get wetter faster. Everyone has their own preference. Most of the time it's a question of trial and error...
Hello, that's very sweet of you but I don't sell any products. You can find the face painting stencils in specialized online face painting shops. Here is a video on this subject in case you are interested: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PW-nYRur2DQ.html
+Lea Willems OOOps! diese Info hatte ich vergessen in der Beschreibung einzutragen, sorry! 😣 Das habe ich jetzt aber gerade gemacht. Einfach auf "mehr anzeigen" klicken. Danke für den Hinweis!
I bought the better one in Germany a long time ago. You can see it here: www.eulenspiegel-schminkfarben.de/produkte/uebungskoepfe-und-paint-board/uebungskopf-competition-pur?c=37 but if I would buy one now, I would go for the ProFace because I heard lots of good things about it. Check it out here if you're interested: sillyfarm.com/shop/face-painting-supplies/practice-tools/practice-heads-pads/proface-light-open-eyes-practice-head-set-caucasian
+sinai abergil Sorry, it's coming. I've had so many face painting jobs lately and it was hard to find the time to record and edit. But if all goes well now it should be online next week. Thanks for your patience!
hi please can you help me. when i was on holiday i had my fave done but they didnt use face paint they used a face spray and a stencil do you know what the spray is called? tryed do hard to find it Nd i cant xx
Spray face paint is called airbrushing. Be careful though because some airbrushing paints are more difficult to remove and should not be used on the face...
Some airbrushing can be done from a can. If it was on your face then it probably wasn't what I use. I use global body art tattoo spray, but that should NOT be used on the face, as it can last a while...
Sorry for the late reply but I agree 100%, spray paint should never be used on the face because it isn't water soluble. I am not aware of any brand of safe face paints that come in spray. Beware, this could do more harm than good....
I have made another video with information regarding where you can buy the products depending on the country or area you live in. Hope this helps: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PW-nYRur2DQ.html
