The fact that you're so talented but you're not wasting that talent and you're teaching people just inspires me. I think I speak for everyone who watches your video's when I say we can't thank you enough for taking the time and effort to show us the complex things you've learned and even the simple things. I've been painting for about 10 months and I've watched a lot of your video's and not only have they helped me improve my painting/drawing, you inspire me so much and encourage me to improve, improve, improve... So thank you very much for this video: My teachers have always taught this to their students but I never actually thought it was all that important until I watched this video and realised that I need to know even the simplest things in order to improve so thank you again for this video :) I know how it feels to be inspired and I hope this message inspires you to keep going because that's the whole point of this. Thanks again :)
I am blown away by your teaching method. So clear and non-judgmental. I feel freedom to make mistakes , which is such an integral part of learning. Thank you so much!
And he actually explains stuff. A lot of the time when I see artists do tutorials I feel like they're more like "learn how to draw better" instead of "learn how to draw". I need to know the guidelines and the rules before I can make my imagination come to life. That's what drawing tutorials should be about, actually teach someone all the extremely basic stuff and how to implement that in something I want to draw. Schafer's playlist is honestly the best one I've seen.
I’m actually learning a lot.My drawing skills have improved since the first lesson. But if he’s not giving you the info you need, that’s ok.You can find someone else. You just don’t have to be so mean about it.
@@SchaeferArt Yes it creates a heavy psychological effects which really helps in improvements.. So my fellow friends love his videos a lot and support him he's an angel!!! :)
Thank you, Mr. Schaefer. I am a woman over 40 years old. Start to draw a simple thing, following your video. Maybe I can make my childhood dream into reality.
Congrats to making it to episode 4 gamers, you have gone where few have ventured. You truly have the skills and determination to become a true artist. Good luck on your journey I wish you well.
Thank you for this, I'm actually considered 'professional' at drawing and some painting, and I never understood this. I always just drew portraits, your series is so useful to simplify things for people who draw really well, and beginners. So thanks for that. I'm not even ashamed.
Never be ashamed of admitting something like this - some people are just very good teachers. He is one. You'll have your own strengths 🙂 I'm learning from scratch with his videos...
Your style is so laid back but inspiring - you have a really nice style and approach - its like being helped by a really good friend. Thank you for putting up these videos. Keep on helping us!
"break things down into simple shapes" i was not fortunate enough to have been exposed to art instruction but am so happy to have resources like your channel at this point in my life... slowly following along and already i feel so much less useless with a pencil
This was amazing. I'm a noob at drawing. But this makes me want to try drawing a train coming from the vanishing point haha. Thanks for the wonderful video.
This was by far (no pun intended) the most informative drawing video I have ever seen. I've never heard of the "one point perspective" Please keep these videos coming you rock!!!
You are amazing , at age 75 , I needed both auditory and visual input for NEW LEARNING , you made it possible . I totally love you for what service you are doing for us the seniors , in this Covid-19 pandemic lockdown victims . 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I've been casually drawing for 7 years but I never went beyond just drawing cartoons. I never really felt satisfied with how my drawings came out and thanks to your videos, I finally realize why I've been so unsatisfied. I was not progressing because I never took the time to truly learn the fundamentals of what makes art so great. Thank you for taking your time to share your knowledge and experience with lesser skilled artists such as myself.
Love your video thank you. Specially as there is no daft little backround sound. Bravo. This is the second time in my life that I'm having a go at scketching and this time I intend to get some good results. As you said...no need to be perfect.
Thank you. I could not make heads or tails out of perspectives. Now I actually get it. You have such a calm and soothing way of teaching. And you don't speak "artist." You make it simple and that's what I needed.
My mind was literally blown from this video. I have always wondered how that worked and now it makes so much sense. You are teaching me so much!! I’m not a good drawer but I think I’m improving with your videos!
I have just discovered you today and I really like your videos . I started from the "learning how to draw " series. I want to learn how to draw and how to paint but I am on the search of a teacher or school. This would be perfect to be able to attend the school of fine arts, but I am already working as a dentist and I don't know how I will find the time :( Anyways, you are doing a really great job! Keep on :)
OMG Brandon....you just blew me "out of the water"! I don't know what to say to you anymore except THANK YOU. I can't say it enough, but in these 4 lessons you have taught me so much, and I find it so darn interesting. For the first time in my life, I'm starting to believe that anyone can draw, albeit perhaps to differing degrees but still, I would never have believed it. You rock Brandon!
I’ve just started your lessons... I am 70 and needed to know the basics ... wow this is tip top for me. I’m sooo excited to find this great guy teaching so humbly❤️🙏🏻🤗 thank you soo much . Ive only dabbled in a few face sketches but now I’m more confident. Especially loved this 4th lesson as I never understood perspective... thank you again. I’m going to practice then move to lesson 5 . You are a great teacher
He is so talented and telling the basic. I'm so glad that people like him exist in this world. I've been searching for this type of art but finally i found it. Hats off to this man, his simplicity and all the stuff, even watching his videos is so pleasing and aesthetic. i'm in love. Thank you so much.
I'm making my way through the whole series of Learning to Draw, I've found these to be very useful and helpful. I've just started to learn to draw. This one, on perspective, has been a real eye opener; thank you.
I'm watching your videos to improve my drawing skills and eventually learn to paint and they have been very helpful and easy to follow so far. Thank you!
You’re a living legend man. The fact that you can explain so well and make it as fun as posible is incredible. And as a 12 year old who finds everything blah and boring your videos are inspiring and better at teaching then all the tutorials I’ve been through. Normal tutorials are like step 1.draw a circle.step 2. Draw the frame. Step 3 add details. Without much explanation or guidance. But the fact that you treat us like lost 4 year olds is amazing! And I actually mean this because normal art tutorials always act like we know the basics and general structure. But you walk us through step by step explaining the “why we do it” and the “how to form and make it”. Thank you for making this and knowing that Your audiences level in drawing is most likely a beginner who doesn’t know jack.
him: uses pencel holder as a ruler me: I CANT FIND MY RULER! HOW DO YOU MAKE A RULER! MAMA HAVE YOU SEEN ANY RULERS! me: uses paper and still cant make line
i just happened to be here now, fortunately, and i really love how he did draw as if he was a beginner so that i, as the first time to ever learn to draw don't rush to get the perfection and don't get the anxiety if it wasn't good enough. i remember he always said "have fun with it get rid the perfection mentality".
***** I loved drawing as a child, but I want taught anything useful and never kept it up. I recently thought I'd like to start drawing again, but I've decided to learn from scratch. Get a solid grounding in the basics and the rest will follow.
How's your drawing going? I just started a couple of weeks ago at age 24 hehe :). I already have a job in the entertainment industry but I wanna draw/animate in the future, hoping it's not too late.
tabundo001 I don't practice enough, but when I do, I surprise myself - there's a lesson there somewhere! Looking at something I've drawn and being proud enough to show somebody instead of saying "No, useless - I can't do this!" is rather magical.
I enjoy these so much it's so easy to follow I might just be stupid but there's times where i'll watch a tutorial for art techniques and something will be described and for whatever reason it just goes over my head but following this I fully got what I needed to do and honestly got a tiny bit emotional after accomplishing it I tend to get easily frustrated with my drawing I get weirdly OCD with as I'm sure a lot of people do but I pushed myself passed that mindset and applied these methods and it came out looking decent i've essentially proved to myself that if I apply myself I can do this I can become better at art so thank you for these videos
Paid for a beginning sketching course on Udemy.. lost me in first video.. These low stress videos exactly what I was looking for . Thank You !! Teach me like I'm 3, then I will progress at my own pace.
simplicity at its finest .. the way you teach is so easy to understand .. here you are free to make mistakes but in school few mistakes decides if you are gonna be hated or not ( in my school ) .. thanks!
The views really dip on this series as i continue watching, people really give up quick. I appreciate you showing us these tips! Super easy and chill attitude about how to approach art.
I can appreciate that you aren't drawing amazing things in these tutorials. By that I mean, it's rather simple and closer to what I would draw, and that makes it a lot easier to understand I think. Usually I give up trying to draw pretty early on because I get frustrated that I can't draw as well as the teacher. But in this case I feel like I might even be able to get better than these simple drawings with enough practice. It's a long journey from the beginning I think, but tutorials like this really make it seem like a possibility for a beginner like me to get better.
I"m blown away by how amazing your videos are! I feel like I've struggled with how to wrap my mind around these "basics". The techniques- the mindset- since I was little. A lot of family members just seemed to natural just draw master pieces out of thin area, and I was homeschooled (no art classes or the like) so I had no idea! This is so helpful, and I really am so happy to be able to watch! (: Thank you; thank you.
I stumbled upon this video this morning and I can't imagine what a jackpot I've hit! Thank you so much for this lesson and of course all of your other lessons. This has been the best.
You are a gift from a person who lost their motivation long time ago... Just like me.. I wanna start again soon thanks a lot for your series. I will watch it till the end. 😊💜
I think I speak for everyone watching how you teach is you don’t put any pressure on us, you make us feel comfortable and we don’t feel bad if we make mistakes. I want to thank you for that, you’re such an amazing artist and a teacher.
Thanks for providing the basic tools. Many are missing them. Excelling by hiding the tools from others is not the way to win the race. Winning the race by creating something unique by using those tools is the true spirit of winning thus helping the entire humanity with best quality work
This was life changing for me. Really, why did not anybody teach me this before! Why did they waste my time at school for 12 years with useless art classes!!! My teacher used to criticize my perspective yet she never told me how to do it! This is so simple yet crucial.
Thanksss!!! When I had seen the thumbnail, I thought this lesson is quite hard, but when I watched, dude, it's very very veryyyy simple and helpful, seriously, thanks to youuu😊😊😊😊
