Hello. I have just found your channel. I am a retired Police Officer from Ohio and I travel America in a RV. I have a 2018 Renegade Ikon 45' coach, pulling a 24' stacker trailer with my toys in it. Watching you learning how to drive is, well funny. It is very important that you learn how to drive your coach. If God forbid something were to happen to your husband you would need to know how to drive it. Keep the rubber on the road. God bless.

There is always the possibility an emergency could come up where YOU need to drive. We don’t like to think about it and we think nothing will ever happen but being prepared is better than not. We did the same thing, went to a school parking lot and I made my wife drive, back, and park until se felt somewhat comfortable. Now if I do some bone headed thing like trip over something at a camp site and injure my leg at least we can get home and OH yes she had to learn how to disconnect Everything, also. YOU go Girl!

You did a good job for the first time. When we bought out 45 fter in 17, we both took the RV driving school and learned a lot. We had to weave between cones, both forwards and in reverse, back in, parallel park, and finally on streets, in town, and on the highway. It is important that you are comfortable, and 1-2 hours at a time is a great start.

We are still in the pop up camper stage. I do the driving to the campsite and setting up and my husband joins me. When we get home I have to back it into our crazy curved driveway. We are now in the hunt for our first motor home. What ever we get I have to be able to handle it by myself (I will not wait on my husband getting out of work.

LOL, we have learning to drive a motorhome in our near future. It did not take long for me to feel comfortable pulling our fifth wheel, but the motorhome might be a different story. I quickly learned that mirrors are your friend. Backing is always so much harder. On my test drive, the big shock for me was the amount of space in front of the motorhome that you cannot see (because of the height off the ground, etc). Also, they cut (wheel cut) sharper than I thought. We both plan to learn to drive.
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 5 лет назад
If you are already driving the 5th wheel you will cross over without a problem. I just need to practice more and gain confidence. Maybe a few rest stop to rest stop drives in the middle of nowhere.

Stacy did great. It's always worse in your head than actually doing it. I'm trying to get my wife to drive the truck with the camper connected. I'll use your video once I get her to actually consider it. May I make a suggestion to your hand signals? I noticed that you use a little point of the hand to direct left or right. The girl done good, real good. My problem was watching your expressions, I’m not sure whether you pull those faces whilst enjoying a big ‘O’ but it was hysterical. You may need to do this for a while if Phil’s back goes. Unfortunately, it’s not an option, try and embrace it Stacey. Thanks for sharing your experiences, the last time I saw a classy couple like you two was when Nicky & Jason Wynn had an rv before they traded it in for a catamaran. That was great. I was hoping you'd explain what you're doing as you're doing it, since it's a diesel (different than gas). Oh, and that people need to take and pass a (2-day?) air breaks course to be allowed to drive a diesel rig. This applies in Canada, not sure about the States. (My wife and I are looking to upgrade from a class C to a class A motorhome and, should we buy a diesel, I'll have to take that course. I wish I could just be shown what to do and away we go. :)

I was just pointing out to my husband that all the folks I’ve watched on RU-vid, the women never drive and, to me, that’s not a good idea. You never know when you need to do this. We recently had a couple at our farm who have a toy hauler, he races 4wheelers, and he stated his wife had to learn to drive it because he never knows when he might break a leg or two. I might have to have a few arguments to be able to drive ours but I’m going to have them 😁. How late NC is that RV?

I am 76. Just started driving last year. Once I get behind the wheel I just love it. Will not let my husband drive. He sleeps imagine that. On our way to Mesa AZ as via southern interstate 10. Drove 7 hours today. It is really easy. My challenges are the gas stations. I try to find truck plazas. Been in some really good pickles. The trick is to have my husband get out and use our phones to help me. I learned this technique from a guy at a resort in California . After he helped me back into my camping spot he gave me confidence. I now do all the driving and my husband is okay with that. Keep on driving. You can do this. ❤️❤️

AWESOME! You faced your fears and did it any way! Great job. The more you drive the more you will find your groove. I can remember my greatest fear was this extremely curved mountain road heading to Yosemite . I knew if I did not drive it with our 21’ and flat towed Jeep, I would always be scared. So I did it... cannot say I wasn’t petrified the whole way but once it was done I knew I could pretty much drive anywhere. Mike and I take turns in 2 hour shifts so he gets a rest along the trip. So excited for you on this win! Keep on driving cause practice makes it a piece of cake😍

I did watch the RVgeeks videos because I was having anxiety about driving the MH and crashing it on the drive back 1200 miles. Well I did have a guy yell out his window at me and suggest a few things but other then that, I did learn how to drive it after 1200 miles. I had no choice it was just me. I had to back up in very tight spots without a backup camera since it stopped working and no damages to me or anyone else. I wish I had a quiet, empty set of roads nearby for the practice on...you guys found a sweet spot for that! So awesome! I'm scared, but also very excited about it! I know I can do it...

I sure would love to see more videos of Stacy driving. It’s a confidence booster for us ladies that want to own a class a but are nervous about driving it.

Nope -no way driving my little Vegas. My wife drives and back up boat trailers to boot. But god bless stacy but no breuno. I never be a nurse so what is the big deal, she should not be behind the wheel until confident. Keep practicing and the light will come on. Maybe. no confidence sorry she is dangerous!.

Well done Stacy just loved the expression on your face when you were driving on the RV park with the sun glare, keep it up and give Phil a rest from driving.

I'm a school Bus driver and I Love love love it! When we got a motorhome my husband had me drive it one day and I was scared to death but after I drove it that first time I would not let him drive it anymore. That was my baby! That's why I'm a school bus driver now. I am having so much fun!

Ok, I found this video enlightening. I DID giggle, but only because I remember learning to pull a gooseneck horse trailor with a 1200 pound horse that moves, in the back. Gf, I ended up just following my husband to horse shows. Now with an rv to think about....ugh...we ll see.

I do all the driving - I love it. Husband dozes or enjoys the scenery. When he does take the wheel to let me rest, HE gets sleepy too! and I have to take over after a short break. We sold our motorhome in 2018 because we couldn’t use it enough, but now we’re retired, and looking for another one. I can hardly wait.

Girl-I had sweaty palms with you…. So interesting. I think u will take a RV driving course -or bus drivers training. Is backing up like backing a boat ??? I definitely need to try….so scary.

There should be a rv driving school that has blowup cars instead of cones and video for critiques. It’s amazing you don’t need a special license to drive one of those monsters.

We actually needed a to take a written test and a drivers test to get our license. Each state has different rules for RV'ers.

Great job! I could feel you nerves as I learned to drive an 18 wheeler 20 years ago at the age of 49. Keep practicing and try to keep your hands at 10 & 2 or 9 &3 positions. Reason is that you have better control and should the airbag deploy hopefully it will keep you arms from being broke.

My daddy always told me that all drivers in the house need to learn how to drive all vehicles owned by the family. That’s what I’m going to do! My then 16 year will learn to drive our rig before we head to Alaska in 2020. I’m hoping by teaching her young she will be less nervous..... You did great!

We have a Chevy Express 3500 and currently a pop up. But we are getting a new to us toy hauler this year. Just have to find it. We are debating on the Jayco Octane SL 161 or 222.

Sweet! We always buy "new to us." Cars, RVs...all of it. Let someone else have the depreciation! Good luck on your search

Stacy you did awesome. I’ve never driven a bus but I would. I drove a 22 foot truck and a 32 foot trailer I pulled. It just takes practice. I think pulling is easier though. You can see better. Just think there are a lot of women that drive school buses. I think that would be a bit better then a big rig like you have. Your awesome 👏

Phil your patient too. Stacy you just have to practice because you need to be able to do this. If something happened to Phil, God forbid, you have to be confident/competent to take over. It was much harder to be a NP, you got this.

Nice job. Tip My wife is also vertically challenged so she made a cushion that slips over the seat back and moves her 4" forward while still letting her be supported.

I've wanted to buy an RV for some time I've never driven one before. It doesn't seem that hard to drive I just got to figure out the turning radius but that I could only learn once I'm behind the wheel
