Really though, I'm sure it is very easy to fly. But flying it effectively for a mission is what takes the extra 549 days. Lol. It's kind of like picking up a knife. Super easy! Fighting with it, not so easy. Also if you don't put the knife down just right you die 😂
There's a bit more to in in the real aircraft... as in, years and years of training :) I'm also sure that DCS leaves out anything that's classified. To start completely from cold, the real aircraft probably requires a security code that's set by the ground crew and is given only to the pilot when he climbs in. If it does, you're not going to see it in an entertainment sim :)
@@devilsoffspring5519 there is a code created daily for each aircraft that comes directly from the prime ministers office. If inputted incorrectly too many times the aircraft will go into a limp mode rendering it useless until an AVS technician recomputes the mil spectrometer. A new code must then be entered.
@@devilsoffspring5519 are you referring to the IFF mode 4 codes and the crypto variables? afaik, you can start and take off with the aircraft with little external help...which is modeled in DCS... the only things that arent modeled are specific IFF, have quick, and ky-58 besides some other stuff.... besides you are supposed to have a DTC /mumi in the real aircraft in order to load system data...
I have a very good impression toward Canada armed force! During SF fleet week, I board a Canada war ship, the crew really treat me nice and answered all my questions! Go Canada armed force!
The CF18 is what we normally use. The CF188 is the official term which we use in our LogBooks and other external documents. Amongst Fighter Pilot, we will use F18 or Hornet. A-C-E models are all single seater. The B-D-F are all dual seater. The Canadian Forces have the A & B models which have received extensive upgrades to avionics. The E-F models are a different aircraft all together and much much larger. Hom
Just amazing aerobatic solo! Very beautiful flight and lots of maneuvers that you see very rare, when flying F/A-18 C solos around the globe. Finnish Air Force has been taken lots of trophys in airshows. For example Capt. Ville Uggeldahl 2015 in RIAT airshow and latest Capt. Lauri Mäkinen in RIAT 2018 airshow. This pilot is just outstanding!
You're right for the most part. The Hornet has both 1 and 2 seaters; F/A-18C is a single, the F/A-18D is a double...Same for the Super Hornets; F/A-18E is a single, the F/A-18F is a double. Most of the two-seat aircraft are for training purposes, but it's really not limited from anything to my knowledge. Beautiful Aircraft!
Dear Cinnabun. From Capt. Pierre Mercier, airline pilot for 42 years. I know the similaraty between a motor or an engine but trust me, a "MOTOR" installed on any aircaft ( military or civilian) is called " AN ENGINE" not a motor. Regards.
The planes are old but at least they’ve been upgraded with newer avionics and color MFDs. The big thing that was missing was a modern radar but half of the fleet is slated to receive new AESA radars. Plus there is also a buy of the latest AIM-9X Blk 2 Sidewinder missiles which will further increase the lethality of the Hornet.
I love the Hornet (tried in 1998 to fly one and failed on medical history), but it is so awesome. I actually like the side stick configuration of the F-16 and the F-35 more than the central position.
Look up EA-F18 Growler fighter jet. I think that is what we need more than the F-35. They are planning of totally redesigning it because of the helmet cables and the glitches for the new hud. They have a huge blindspot behind them and where do guns face on an a/c... they will get shoot down in a dogfight as soon as the enemy is behind. It is a great aircraft, but for short term, look for alternatives is my opinion :)
I was just curious about the Canada incidents. I'm aware of the northern seas incidents, thanks. (I'm from Russia). I'll dig around, see what I can find, thanks again!
Here in the UK it makes the newspapers and sometimes the news channels, they dont fly right into the airspace but they buzz it just staying outside and no more, this requires the RAF to scramble to escort them away. However there have been incidents in Canada when they fly right into their airspace.
Haha, yes. once you get to know them it's really simple. The buttons are usually grouped in categories, so it's easier to remember as you keep doing it. I mean the F16 for example has a much more complex cockpit than the F18, which adds to the overall workload that the pilot has to go through during complex maneuvers. Which is exactly what they are trying to avoid nowadays with new fighters.
He's being a positive thinker that's why! If you don't want another life just say so. I'm sure u could be cut loose I'll be back to fly the earlier models of the F-16 Viper. Gonna relive the 80"s ! Lol disco burners
Good video! Seen the Hornet a couple of times in England, flying displays and was excellent and most welcome but not up to the standard set by the RAF Typhoon. Different all together.
The spotlight is about 10" thick. Once the panel is open you can access the 20mm Gun. The gun pretty much takes the entire space inside the nose. Forward of gun but below the barrel is the Radar dish. Hom
thats his point, if they replace something with touchscreen, then you have to remove your hands from the throttle or the stick to touch the screen. that would mean that you arent actively flying the plane, at which point you couldnt maneuver if you are in a fight.
+ahadicow Yo I heard you like to fly while you fly so we hooked up Battlefield in yo F/A-18 so you can shoot down russians while you shoot down russians
Canada and Australia are recognised as the best " small armys" in the world. Neither have huge numbers but in terms of training and firepower we are second to none.
Dear Cinnabun. As far as your initial explanation of a machine that converts one form of energy into a mechanical energy, it is correct but this basic explanation stems from the early days of technology. In our modern era motors convert electrical energy while engines burn a specific fuel to create mechanical energy. Capt. Pierre
"Ready to go, like on 9/11" the pilot says. That's odd, as NORAD took over an hour to even respond, with operators even unsure of whether it was the drill mimicking the events of 9/11 that was taking place that morning or a real live attack that they were responding to. Who told Norad to stand down?
+Namaste1001 Even if they intercepted the planes they would never shoot down a commercial aircraft in the US back in 2001. I think they would now if they knew a plane was hijacked.
All the Canadian Forces personnel act at that professional level. That's why a lot of people don't assume the Canadian Forces is any good, we don't glorify our victories.
I used to not really respect the RCAF as much as I should have...but they did a CF-18 demo at an airshow and flat out embarrassed all the US pilots! The dirty roll, right IMMEDIATELY after takeoff rotation at like 20ft AGL while the gear was still retracting looked soo dangerous. Overall he was just so aggressive it actually scared some people. Made the US demos look pedestrian by comparison. It was awesome.
Thats by CANADIAN MILITARY DESIGNATION. the Mcdonnel Dougless/Boeing Aircraft companys actual designation is the CF-18 A (one seat) and the CF-18 B (two seat.
i am canadian and no it is not the states its the company that built it. Yes the C stand for Canada i was just refering to the actual name and designation of the Hornet by the company that manufactured and designed it.
Welcome to the Canadian Forces. A: We dont have super hornets, Super Hornets are F/A-18E's. Google it. B: CF-188 is CANADIAN FORCES. Not american. I have connections in the Forces who are pilots, and this is VERY correct information. Canada owns CF-188A's and CF-188B's. Also, in Canada (cause we're weird like this) We put an extra number for no reason. CF-177 (the Globemaster) is an example. Its American Designator is C-17, but we make if CF-177. Read your stuff before you confront someone.
Question: A fighter plane flying at a speed above the speed of sound and making a tremendous noise - can the thunder of the missiles and bombs act inside the warehouses and explode.
looooooooolol ...u crack me up breeda Jamaica in the building .....i have all ways loved flying ,and the F -18 is a reall kool jet ...we had on air show the other day here in Jamaica and it was sickkkk....
@JetMech72 I'm sure that the intercept spotlight doesn't take up that much space inside the gun bay, not to mention it's sitting inside of door 6 so maybe they scrunched the aiu or just made a thin light
It really is easy to fly.. nothing is in the cockpit you would not find in a cessna for example. The weapon systems is where it gets overwhelming to new pilots
GoMigman, I know your just poking fun at the Canucks, but if Russia came at us with airpower, they probably would come over the top, North Pole and cruise on into Canada, then TRY to get close to us. So yea they have to defend their boarders. I'm with ya on the F/A- 18 performance and design. I would lay money on a Hornet up against ANY aircraft in the world. This airplane is the best the U.S. has produced in a long time!
I only tease in good fun, we love Canada! Anyway, I'm with you on Russia coming in from the north and even with the US' allegiance/support, we have our own problems trying to police the world and a disastrous F-35 program that could fail financially and even the aircraft by the way things are going, so Canada needs to rely on herself! That airspace is so huge, I've always been an advocate of more strategically located bases to be equipped with enough aircraft to patrol specific quadrants that would overlap the others by 50 miles each way, give or take, and stretch that out the entire length of the northern border. I personally think it would behoove the RCAF to invest in a boatload of F/A-18E's and F's instead of the F-35. I think the latter is not only going to be a budget buster, but I'm not sure it's going to be the effective aircraft that an air force, which needs a tough, multi mission, high payload and great all-around workhorse would need.
Well the only naval required equipment is the tailhook, launch bar, and beefy landing gear which they just leave it on they just dont use it except the gear of course..
I happen to know two fighter jets for sale they're not as hard to obtain as many may believe. They won't be F-18's but fighters none the less. And just so everyone knows once you return to Earth from your first fighter jet experience everything up until that point of time was just waiting
