The reason I created this course was simple: Melodic Cells helped me to become a more fluent improviser. With over 65 practice tracks, 35+ etudes and video explanations, I truly believe that completion of this 7 step course has a great potential to change the way you think about improvisation 🎶🚀

I remember my teacher in high school showed me this same exercise, and then I heard Chris Potter speak about it in a master class not too long after. And I think when they speak about Brecker practicing out of a phonebook or from license plates and stuff it was essentially this concept. He would take a phone number, play whatever pattern it represented diatonically and put it through this system.

Wow you must’ve had one heck of a highschool teacher! Such a great experience/story. I had a similar experience when I met Kenny Garrett in college. He talked a bit with us but most of what he did was play. I feel like I learned this via osmosis through him. This exercise changed my life!

@@SaxophoneSteveKortyka yeah my saxophone teacher in high school was Steve Coleman actually, JK, haha, but no he was a pretty hip teacher and it was also a good performing arts school that I went to. I never went pro although I probably could have. I still enjoy watching you and the other hep cats on YT. You and Matt Marantz are my favorite “millennial” saxophone players. I went to uni with Matt and he talked about Chris Cheek a lot, and I can hear a lot of Seamus in your playing. Keep up the great work!

@@itisonlythemusic2394 Bro, Im so blown away by Steve Coleman and his M-Base pathways. That dude might actually be the Allan Holdsworth of the Saxophone. He just hits different and you NEVER know where hes going to hit you from. :)

Wow, the very first exercise in half steps is a verbatim excerpt of the 'treasure chest theme' from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. So much jazz influence in those scores. Thanks for this great video!
