The classic rock song Since You've been Gone by Rainbow is a great chord riff to learn to polish your barre chord-chops. In this guitar tip, we take a look at the intro and chorus chords and the rhythm you need to pull off this rock classic.

Thanks and love the PRS - the song, Since you've been gone, was written by Russ Ballard of Argent fame, a hit for Head East and eventually, a mega hit for Rainbow - and covered so many times since with little change - check out the Brian May cover. Stuff the key - surely this vid. is to help those who don't know the diff. between a major and a minor and just want to 'Play Now -Learn Later'

@CrashCourseMuso fair play mate,people need to be able to play in different keys anyway when it comes to singing a particular piece :)

Well presented and well played, but although musically correct that the third chord should be minor, I'm not sure that you can hear that tonality in the way Blackmore plays it, I think he just plays the root and the fifth

@nightbreaker Ooohh, I see the "Must Play In The Original Key" police are out. Yup, you're right, the original key is in fact in G, but I sing it in the Key of D - hence my guitar tip was how to play it in D - Who gives a toss anyway? Play it in whatever key you fancy, but in D the chords are D - A - Bm - G and in the key of G they're G - D - Em - C. Peace.

Well I think he was kinda highlighting a confusing message, if you are teaching beginners who want to play along with the song this will really play with their heads, no one needs more frustration that necessary when learning to play the guitar. I see you are doing a great thing for free for everyone out here that wants to learn but maybe just highlight that you have changed the key.

Very professional looking channel ... But totally the wrong chords? Whats the point of saying 'I can show you the chords!' if they're not even the right ones? Come on fella... Get it together. First time ive seen you in the suggestions. First time ive clicked on.... And probably last. I will check out some of your other vidz to see if this is just a one off. Hopefully it is cos the presentation is really good. Sorry if this comes over as harsh but as a guitarist its frustrating trying to find decent sites and its misleading to advertise.... 'With chords' when theyre wrong. good luck

dude. you really should use the right key to show beginners how to play it. who GIVES A TOSS (as you so eloquently put it) what key you sing in???

Well outside of the fact that this is in completely the wrong key, you aren't showing people how to "Learn to play 'Since You've Been Gone'", you're only showing the intro and chorus riff. Where are the verses, bridge, and solo? There's a lot more to this song than 4 chords!

a fancy intro of 20 s......., then you teaches the song in wrong key??! i get that you can play it in D but when you have a gig coming up and you just wanna get it right, you want to check out the songs if you miss something...then you have this in wrong key...im like...wtf? do i have it wrong.... no its just you!! you confuse me! and others aswell.
