This, it's great to hear your genuine feelings on a track after having practiced it a lot. Helps me know what to expect if I decide to time trial this track myself.
Thanks for another good tutorial! I'm happy with the section where you summarize your thoughts as is, I appreciate hearing your personal thoughts on the track as I respect your skills and the way you see the game -- but if you decide it needs some more spice, I'm sure you'll do a good job adding it in a way that suits your style. :)
Started the morning at a 2:35.xxx & worked my way down to a 2:29.196. As always, thanks for the work you do with the videos & the whole Bayesic Training series. I know I'm not near as quick on any track w/o them. As far as the "experiment", I do enjoy hearing the personal thoughts on the track + the layout at the end to kind of get away from the seriousness of the all the notes we just took to get faster.
I listen through to the end always - I prefer when you really talk about the design choices made in a track, and if critiquing, if you have any suggestions for tweaking the design - very much like you did here and you generally do this! Thanks for the vid, this is one of the tracks I know I'm not running optimally but was struggling to figure out what to do different.
Watching your videos are really helping me to get better at the game, whenever you post a video I grab my Mario kart 8 deulxe notepad and write down notes and what you say so I can use them in my playthrough, also it's by finding your channel that I use the biddy buggy, Azure rollers and paper glider combo with Baby Peach instead of Waluigi. Keep up the amazing work buddy. From your fan Pokemon Fangirl (Becky)
Update: my wife and I were talking and our favorite parts of your videos are the depth you go into about the specific moves, shortcuts and strategies and then also the analysis of the world record times. We aren’t great, but we love getting to understand what’s happening. Thanks for the great work!
I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on the track and I basically agree. It's still my favorite track from Wii, so it'll always have a special place in my heart though, even if it is kinda tame compared to some of the other tracks
Your video are absolute so good and interesting. One thing that sometime i would to see is a piece of clip when you speak about an error or a bad execution to see where this or that bad move could lead you on the track if you don t do correctly the right move. And i really enjoy your videos with controllers showing when and where to press certains buttons!!! I hope my english will be good enough to see what I mean. Have a nice day.
I completely agree about the soundtrack. Not quite as good as the original, but the wii version is my absolute favorite soundtrack and I was stoked to see the track coming to the switch as part of the booster pass. As for your question: I like the detail about the half-pipe at the end. Perhaps you could keep mentioning how time trials would be different from competitive play during "downtime" on the full run section of videos?
Back from watching the whole thing, I actually like that this course has closer racing than usual, it's one of my group's favorites for grand prix weekend because of it. I know that's just my opinion, but I think it's not very often that I still enjoy a track this much in it's third appearance. Thanks for the tips, looking forward to the next one. You've really helped me out a lot, bud, and congrats on 25k!
I've had a spot in my heart for Wigglers ever since the final Power Star (assuming the 100-coin star has been acquired while getting the other 5 in numerical order) in Tiny/Huge Island going all the way back to Super Mario 64. As such, Maple Treeway has been my favorite Wave 3 course since Day 1 and remains my favorite course in the entire Booster Pass to this day. Since we're in a post Wave 6 world, it's safe to say that the Wiggler-themed courses (this one, Mario Circuit DS, and Madrid Drive) are my top 3 favorites in the entire Booster Pass, with this one claiming the top spot because of Wiggler quantity. The only way I can think of improving the course without adding a maze-like element (to my knowledge, that's only seen in Yoshi Valley, which is why that course, despite having no Wigglers, is my favorite in the entirety of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe) is to have one or both Wigglers snoozing in the first lap and having more unpredictable movement from them in the final lap. ❤
It’s funny, I often don’t watch to the experiment/your pb of the videos, but did this time. I’m the lazy subscriber who mostly just watches for the parts that I know I haven’t optimized yet.
I enjoy the track discussions at the end of your videos a lot. I don't do a lot of time trialing, so it adds a lot of value for me to hear your more general ideas about the tracks. Question: Do the leaf piles spawn mushrooms in time trials as well, or is that RNG just for the vs modes?
The part where you describe your personal experience with the track is a very enjoyable bit to me, but at the same time basing your analysis off of people who comment will skew towards high engagement crowd, you should look at the video analytics see if people click off your video during that section!
There used to be a HUGE drop off in those PB sections which is actually why I started throwing commentary into the mix in the first place. At this point I'm thinking more like I wonder if there's a way I can make the commentary more interesting to organically increase engagement in the comment section and stuff. I'm experimenting with a couple of things in my next few videos actually :-)
I definitely plan on keeping them it’s just that for rock rock mountain and maple Treeway they’re pretty much just “do what I did but better” so not much to talk about Berlin Byways is a nightmare of a track tho so you’ll be seeing WR strats there for sure
@@lazycrow4607 oh yeah sorry should have thrown that in here just a single mini turbo around the first turn followed by another left drift around the second turn (ie don’t try and build up an MT with a right drift on the turn before the glider)
