NOW, Im writing music, playing live, recording and even teaching.....Bought my first guitar in 2013 and that day I started watching your videos. Now....I can stand in with any band now, play anything from cowboy rhythm chords, to fast metal. Im not perfect, but I can solo blues, rock, pop....get up on stage and be COMFORTABLE and confident in my skills.From the bottom of my heart brother, THANK YOU!

Definitely not ment to critique this lesson. It works. Just want to add , because I had trouble making this song translate well, like meny others. To sound like Dean, it's important that minus the beginning G chord in the verse, that each subsequent chords has to begin with a up stroke. It's a little disorienting at first because it's not a technique used often, but is easy to master with a little effort. It's also a GREAT example of the technique! It makes the verse in my opinion

Man, you’re the guitar monster !!!!!!! I’m a pianist and I know my theory, but you translate it so easily with plenty of visual, sound, all so important fingerings and you had my sub from ground zero. I’ll tell you a secret about myself, I write and sing heavy alternative rock music and I compose almost all of it on my piano, and I play a bit of rhythm guitar, lol, I prefer the guitar to the piano any day, lol. Thanks again, awesomeness

Anyone know the tuning that DeLeo uses on the recording? I think he's down 1 1/2 steps or more. Too lazy to check. But, this will sound awful when you play along with the recording in standard tuning. Otherwise, really great lesson. Much appreciated.

This lesson is super awesome. I'm freshly learning to play with a used Ibanez I picked up. However, I noticed something kinda funny. See, I learned Plush in order to sing it for my wife at karaoke. I learned both the acoustic, and electric lyrics (unplugged vs album). And, you've accidentally combined both in this lesson. The electric album version hardly uses the muted strings double scratch, whereas the unplugged version relies on it to keep tempo. There are also a few chord combos you use blended between the two, which both makes it inauthentic, and fusion at the same time. It's pretty funny, but also kinda cool, since its obvious you love this song. I want to be able to play well enough to get on stage for an open mic night. But, too slow with my fingers yet. Someday soon. Thanks!

Hi David !!! Nicely Done,, I've seen a lot of different video's and they're not even close to the way you teach. I've been playing since I was 7 or 8 and I'm now 41 ,so I acually look to learn a song the advanced ,or should I say the "exact" way the artist who's written a song , especially before I'd play it in my own way. This is tougher to find then it sounds..anywho ,I definitely recommend to any begginer or more advanced player your videos, you teach in a way that works.thanks

EpicGuitarInstruction love your lessons. My only suggestion would be to add in what the bpm is for the song. So players can set a metronome for practice without having to look it up. Other than that. Enjoying your videos! Keep em coming

The muting and fast chord changes, along with that Ebmaj7 make this song a bit difficult to play

Curious. Why the Stratocaster HH over a Les Paul. I have a SSS but need a humbucker guitar, but Les Pauls are SO heavy. Your thoughts ????
@EpicGuitarInstruction
@EpicGuitarInstruction 4 года назад
Hi David and thank u for checking out my lessons. I just happen to like both strats and les pauls.....and paul reed smiths, and Ibanez......heck, I like them all and they all sound a bit different. Yes, so many Les Pauls are so heavy and my Les Paul that u see me play in lessons is very heavy indeed - but that is what gives it that full banging sound. The strats are lighter and more comfortable for me but often I like for certain sounds the humbucking pickups - so this Big Apple model strat I used in this lesson had seymore duncan humbuckers that could be split into single coils - so it has a lot of tonal options. Just different sounds. I have starts with the SSS config and like them as well. So it all depends on what sounds I am going after - and its all good - all personal preference. Keep experimenting and having fun along ur guitar journey. Be sure and take a good look around the channel as we have lots of killer lessons and content taught in the same format. Enjoy and stay tuned - lots more killer content and lessons coming soon. Keep up all that hard work on that guitar and please subscribe to the channel. Remember, Gibson guitars are built in the 24.75 scale length. Fenders and most other guitars by other companies are built in the 25.5 scale length. What does that matter to the tone and sound? It’s actually a Huge matter! It’s very significant because 25.5 causes everything to have that thinner country tone or, blues tone and everything coming out of these guitars is in a higher (pitch) sound. Where as, everything in the 24.75 scale has a much beefier meaner or rock tone and much more fuller sound. SRV, used heavier strings and tune down a full step. But, even then, a Stratocaster or Telecaster STILL has the country or blues sound to it. Many rock and metal guitarist have used 25.5 scale guitars. And, everything out of their has a higher pitch to it. How to do a fake remedy for that? Get the Evolution pickup. Or, turn the guitar’s tone knob way down on your Fender/25.5 scale guitar made by other companies. However, it will still sound like a Fender. It is pretty impossible to make any 25.5 scale guitar/Fender sound exactly like a Gibson. I would, get a 24.75 scale neck, made other companies for your 25.5 scale guitar / Fender. And, get Gibson pickups for your Fender/25.5 scale guitar which, are made by other companies. Or, get the 24.75 scale neck and Gibson replacement pickups made by other companies. There are less expensive and/or lighter 24.75 scale guitars made by other companies that will also give you the Gibson sound and tones.

How you doing Dave? One detail about your teaching is you don't leave anything out especially for beginners or guitarists that don't run into different ways of playing too often like the muting after every chord. I went through alot of plush lessons that didn't explain the muting and it was hard to figure exactly how they were muting because the hand didn't flatten out. I thought they were palm muting but when I tried it, it didn't sound right. It was a regular chika sound, lol. Thanks Dave, peace.

Hi Kim and thank u so much for checking out this video - really appreciated! I filmed this lesson so long ago I dont remember the gear setup and amp I was using when I filmed this lesson.
