For better concentricity, I remove the decapping stem/expander ball from the sizing die. I use an expander mandrel to get better concentricty of the neck, after first using a Lee Universal Decapper die to remove the primer, then a full-length reizing die with a shoulder bump of 0.002", then the expander mandrel. The expander mandrel is also useful for rounding out necks in virgin brass and prior to neck turning.
Very enlightening ty i havent found a good reloading channel in a while.since Johnny went awol i just havent wat hed as many vids on reloadi g im subbed to most reloading channels and havent been enjoying most of the content they all put out this was refreshing and it was the first vid of yours i watched. Great info. Redding also makes a body die, that just sizes the body and allows for the user to use a seperate neck die, bushing or mandrel for the neck.
Great video! I am new to reloading. Do you have a video explaining the bushing dies for different caliber reloading? If not. It would be great if you made one. Specifically what is the norm of bushing sizes (range) for different calibers. I am looking into reloading 9mm, 38 Super, 223REM Match, 308 Match, and 30-06 Match ammo. Thanks for any info!
What’s the best die set to use in a 7.62x39 semi auto gun I’m finding conflicting results from what I gathered I don’t want to neck size some say to bump neck back 2 thousandths
Hopefully you get a notice of my question. I'm just getting in reloading. 30-06 is what I want to do. Lee has a 4 piece die set; but RCBS has a 2 piece die set. I'm confused.
You really only need 2 dies like rcbs. The 4 die set from lee has a extra features. Which while nice and many people swear by them, they're not need to load a 3006 round.
