The 555 timer is the most widely produced IC on Earth. It is incredibly useful and has a few modes of operation. In this video we look at two of them: Mono-stable (single-shot), and Astable (flip-flop).
We look at what the pins are and how to connect them to resistors, capacitors and buttons to make the two types of circuits, and then put both to use driving a Ti CD4017 decade counter to light a row of sequential LEDS.
