I watched a ton of "how to wheelie" videos and they all go straight to wheelie without giving a good method for progression. I think that's what sets this video apart from the rest. For someone who hasn't done a wheelie yet, it's really intimidating to just guess rpms and commit to it because you don't know if you're just gonna loop the fuck out of it or not.
How hard do you dump the clutch? I know it is essential, but do you still have slight control over it or do you really just let go? Good video btw, thanks for that!

Former bouncer and security here...that's the kind of demeanor that would regularly get my guys into bad fights, and the guys that acted like that towards the public, were never able to win those fights without backup. Weakness.
Still learning but i found tapping the back break confirms your foot is in the right position and also shifts the weight forward enough to start compressing the front forks. Great video man, respect.
On a mini bike like a Grom it helps me to bounce the forks. Push down and dump the clutch while pulling up. Most bikes 250-300cc and up can clutch up no problem.
Actually, on first gear, you don't need the clutch, you just accelerate fast and it's gonna get up pretty quick (i speak for mt 07 owners). Personnally, i prefer second gear, because you have much more control over the height, but that's maybe just the thoughts of a beginner.

I learned to wheelie on the rear brake and fork compression comes up way smoother, accelerate, drop revs, tap rear brake and apply throttle its wierd but it works
Your point about loading the weight and quickly unloading it back with the gas is key. I have been able to do wheelies for years, but with extreme revs because I wasn't doing it quickly enough. This led to scary moments where I had to control the throttle quickly to not loop and higher speeds than I wanted.

I Need Help my bike seems to not want to wheelie anymore when I pop the clutch. When I do i only accelerate a bit and that’s in 1st gear. Do you think this could be a premature sign of worn out clutch plates ?
I just bought my first bike (ninja 650) a few days ago. I’ve been watching videos for a long time before tho so I felt like I knew enough.. 2nd day I clutched in and revved to 55grand and damn near dumped myself off the back went so high. But now I at least can consistently go like 2 feet off ground but can’t ride it:/
I also notised that I must rev up quickly to make my baby wheelies. I thought it had to do with the injection system. Filling up the cylinders with gas and the bike makes a leap forward with good acceleration. But that is only my own idea. It also comes with a knocking sound and deep engine sound. Z900

i have a ducati 620 and i can literally redline and dump the clutch in first gear and yank the bars hard as i can and it doesnt do shit i get maybe an inch or two off the ground. brand new clutch too ive even tried having my left foot on the passenger peg
Lawsuit culture. People get hurt on your property even if the owner has nothing to do with what they're doing and the hurt people will try to sue. Like say he wheelies Into someone else there the injured party can sue the owner for not controlling the property.

this was very helpful! i thought i just have to rip the gas real hard! and instantly do a wheelie or don t do one at all ^^ but that getting used to with clutch and rpm sound a lot better :D i will try that with just low rpms and go up more.. my bike doesn t show rpms though..
7 months later. How are you doing with it? I'm curious. I'll be starting to learn this year as well. Rode all last year without trying them, but now I want to learn them.

Great video, loved it, I'm still struggling with getting the wheel up tho... 😂 My bike immediately starts doing a burnout whenever I revv and dump the clutch, I ride a Z750R btw, maybe it's just the weather and the slippery roads, or maybe my bike just doesn't feel like going up, who knows 😂

I can’t seem to get the front wheel up at all on my 200cc enduro, I’ve been trying and searching on RU-vid for at least 2 months and every time I go out and try it seems like my front wheel is glued to the floor. I’ve come to the conclusion that my bike is too heavy for my 200cc motor however I’ve seen people wheelie my exact bike🤷🏽♂️ idk I need help I want to be able to at least do a baby wheelie but no matter if i pull as hard as I can on the bars and rev and dump the clutch, my front wheel stays on the floor and I get a violent tug motion that is very demotivating….. I’ve been able to get the front wheel to come up about 2mm by grabbing the tank with my knees and yanking as hard as I can backwards in first gear which really scrapes up my knees all for a not that impressive wheelie😒🙁 someone please help me all the information I’ve found has been for bikes that can initially power wheelie where as mine can’t 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Quick question should one lightly tap the rear brake while in a wheelie or do I only use it to go down ? Basically what I’m asking is how do continue the wheelie for about a couple feet
Great question! In order to continue the wheelie longer, you need to bring it high enough to "balance point" where the bike feels weightless and you don't need to gas or brake to keep it there. Another way is, you chase out the wheelie by adding more throttle to keep the wheel in the air (you will pick up speed with this one and eventually the wheel will come down when you run out of rooms) . When you learn balance point tapping the rear brake helps when you accidentally go past balance point and you need to bring it back down to balance point or stop the wheelie completely. Make sure to always end your wheelies with the rear brake so you can build muscle memory to bring the bike down during emergencies. If you need more clarification or have more questions feel free to ask more! I'll try to make a video explaining this more 😁
@@XLBAORIDER Understood: what about body position in terms of what your looking at ? For example during a wheelie can I look down on the street or road or should I keep my head upright looking outward ?
@@mikeMcoa keep looking straight, where you want to go, and don't look down. Get used to listening to the RPMS to know where it's at instead of looking down. You can however look down before you do the wheelie to check your speed , but make sure to always look where you want to go
