Uncle Hairy walks Humf home in the dark and Humf notices that the moon is following him. Humf wonders if the moon wants to come to his flat. And in the bathroom he discovers the moon in the sink! It did come. But then Dad pulls the plug out and the moon goes back to the sky again.
Humf is a furry thing, but he knows there are lots of other things to be. So he tries learning to fly like a feathery thing, live under a box like a scaly thing and living in the water like a slippery thing, before finally deciding that he’s glad to be a furry thing after all.
Loon has had her first ballet lesson and she shows Humf how to do ballet too. But Humf can’t do it because he hasn’t had a lesson. Humf likes to do the things Loon does, just like Loon likes to do the things Humf does. So Loon finally gives Humf a lesson so he can do ballet too.
Humf is a furry thing. He is short and round and purple and cuddly. At three years old Humf is full of wonder at the world, and is always eager to explore the new things he sees around him. Humf knows what the questions are, even if the answers take a little longer to find.
