I’m an engineer so I have spent a great amount of time studying my golf swing and have many training books filled with my notations. This is the first video I have seen where every step is explained and the steps leading to a full swing and eventually ball striking were broken down so clearly and incrementally. Working on my swing in the garage waiting for next season for the payoff. Thanks Kirk.

Magnificent instruction, I keep rewatching segments because there's so much detail to absorb. The single plane swing made me enjoy golf again... I quit for two years.

Thank you. After a week of daily practice sessions, your single plane instruction has helped me immensely. I shot an 84 this weekend using a single plane swing for all my long shots. I was able to find fairways and greens like I truly never have before and I was hitting the ball more consistently than I can ever remember in my life. I had never broken 90 before this week, and I know for a fact it was largely because of my consistent tee/approach shots. My driver was straight, 3 wood was straight, irons were going very straight, and everything felt truly effortless and easy after I did the right setup. My distances were more consistent than ever before. I was hitting save shots over trees and hazards and out of the rough and it all was working. What's more, when I messed up I didn't blame the swing mechanics, I would look at what I had done that wasn't in line with my single plane swing, and then I got back on track pretty quickly. My biggest mistake was lean down in my follow through or sometimes I still push my weight to my back foot in my backswing. In my old swing, a large "wrist break" was messing with my head so I really focused on steady hands and arms in my swing and letting the body do the work. The thing I struggled with the most was getting into a good position to hit a single plane swing on uneven lies, particularly where the lead foot is high above the trail foot. Do you have any videos on uneven stances/lies? Thanks for your help getting to my lowest score ever, I will forever recommend Kirk Junge's instruction to golfers struggling with consistent long shots.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. If you search on my channel here for uneven lies there are a couple of videos. I hope to make some more soon. Thank you for your support.

Thank you! This video of drills and key moves all in one place is super helpful. I played golf heavily from 2000 to 2009. Worked directly with Todd Graves and made good progress. Due to big work change I took about 10 years off. Started back in December 2019. I was struggling to get my single plane swing back. Couldn’t spend time and $ to re-engage with graves and had lingering challenges with methodology on distance from ball since I am 6’ 4” height. I Found your videos in the spring of this year. Made SO MUCH MORE SENSE! Tailoring single plane swing to my body type and physical abilities. I made immediate progress doing your drills and videoing myself regularly. I dropped from the low 90’s scoring to the low 80’s scoring. Over last couple of weeks I really started to regress and scoring and losing consistency. I had stopped doing the drills. I rewatched this Monday. Did few drills in living room and re-watched some more. I went to the range Thursday (yesterday). and did the drills for a couple of hours in the morning. I played 18 holes in the afternoon. I hit the ball as well as I ever have! I mean really great ball striking for me. Zero lost balls! So excited that I had to share and say thank you. I am going to keep a rotation of these drills in my practice. My grip got strong and weird how my weight had shifted all wrong, and ball placement in my stance was bad. Your drills straightened me out. Thanks!!

I found my way to your videos after I stumbled on a 'Geezer Tony' video that got my attention. At first the uncocked setup felt uncomfortable but that went away after a couple days of practicing without a ball. I had planned on hitting the range the other day to test things out, but it was closed. Instead, just played on the course by myself & hit an occasional mulligan. I had very good results overall with my only bad shots being thin or topped. Even those were pretty straight. My distances were a bit less with the driver but longer (& straighter) with the irons for sure. I'm 77 & been trying way too many things for 45 years with mixed results. Once I get more comfortable & relaxed with this, I have no doubt that the driver will be longer than it's ever been as well. I sincerely feel that my search for a repeatable golf swing is over & I thank you so much. Wish I knew to do this when I was 32, but I'll still have time now for more fun on the course.

Yes, this is excellent. Thank you. Logical pushback, too, on some of what Moe did, like the wider stance, and quite extreme distance from the golf ball. Worked for him. Even with the wide stance, he had plenty of freedom getting to his left side...but that was Moe. A lot of others will get "stuck" on their right side with that stance. They will never get through the ball. And never have the necessary freedom of movement to their swing. So, yes, thank you very much. A single-plane set up and grip is inherently predisposed to a good strike. Add in the drills you give, and you are launching people to much better ball-striking and enjoyment of the game. Nice work, and thank you.

Well I came across this on Wednesday night after playing a round on which I was 23 shots over. Bearing in mind my handicap in the uk is 20, but am struggling to hit under that mark. Saw this video thought I would give it a go on a par 70 course here in the uk and even after three putting twice I hit 10:shots under my handicap, am totally blown away. Am looking forward to playing Monday to see if this wasn’t just a one off. Absolutely blown away by it.😊

Thanks for stressing not to try and keep the trail foot on the ground. Even MO said that he didn't recommend teaching people to do what he does. I still feel that he had some body restrictions as to why he did things his way, causing him distance. I've tried his way , and hit it straight but like you said, 30 to 40 percent of a distance loss when that lead leg didn't straighten. So I am so excited to spend the next week doing these drills. This is going to be my swing for the rest of my life. I love hitting straight balls. Thanks a zillion.

Hi Kirk, I spent 8 years in the Orlando area taking lessons from all the top teachers in the area/world. I always struggled with my setup and having my head behind the ball. I never could get into the position they wanted me to get in. I just watched the first two parts of this video and then went in my garage and setup facing a golf mirror. I noticed that I was in position all these teachers were trying to get me in at setup. All I did was follow your steps for the grip and it puts you in such a great position.

Thanks Kirk. I was using Stack & Tilt for about 9 months, then tried conventional which I found quite difficult. The backswing to dropping in the slot while I try to square the face by curling my leading hand and wrist. I just couldn't seem to make it feel natural and athletic enough. So I watched this lesson about 2 weeks ago and I now feel that I have increased the consistency of shots Now I'm compressing the ball with my irons much easier. Heck, I even returned my 4 iron back into my bag since I never could really hit that club before. Now I'm thinking, DRIVING IRON?!?!?! Thanks for the well instructed videos. I'm a Set Up For Impact nerd now.. No offence :)

@rickcamozzi5926
@rickcamozzi5926 4 года назад
Really interesting and nice that you are not forcing me to change what is my natural swing. I am 65 and can hit far and don't want to spend a year completely revamping my swing into something that may not help. My scores can change 20 strokes from day to day. When you shoot 85 one day and 100 the next you know something is just not right. The single plane makes it much easier for me to be a lot more consistent. I have been trying it the past week and I seem to be hitting longer and more consistent on the range. Another online instructor talks a lot about keeping the back foot on the ground and trying to emulate Moe. Since I have a tendency to stiffen my left leg and spin out I thought this made sense. It is really difficult to do but it does keep me behind the ball. The past couple of days I have pressed my left knee over my left foot on the downswing which seems to be an easier way to stop the spin than trying to keep my back foot down. Similar to the skipping a rock motion. But I am now staying in that knee locked position through impact and wondering if that is ok.
@Setup4Impact
@Setup4Impact 3 года назад
For most people keeping the trailing foot flat though impact will result in a loss of distance and accuracy. The bent leading leg is difficult to have the same bend for every shot and results also in inconsistent ball contact. You likely setup too far away which is why you need to focus on those issues. If you move closer to the ball then you can move more naturally which will provide better results. My new drills address this on my website. you
@rickcamozzi5926
@rickcamozzi5926 3 года назад
@@Setup4Impact I am learning exactly what you are saying. Forcing my back foot down was a mistake. I do need to mentally stay back, though. If not then I move lateral toward the hole and stiffen my front leg and spin out. That was the reason I thought I should push down on my front foot. That movement also causes me to bend my front knee and again move lateral. When I say stay back I doesn't mean keeping my weight on the back foot as my weight does shift. It just keeps me from the lateral sway.

Hello Kirk. Ive had lessons that take me to the same place you describe early in your video here with the hands directly below the shoulders. I could never either visualise a swing on the plane presented by this method or carry one out with any success or consistency, that method does not fit with my brain. Having watched your teachings regarding the one plane swing I set about to use it today (I think that I have used the method your learning system teaches when I first started to play golf but just naturally without your or any other experts input) The results today were excellent, long, straight, crisp strikes that with irons for example just caressed the turfs top layer. Shots with all types of woods were also better and more consistent than I have been experiencing of late. This method is brilliant. As the American Pop Group ' The Monkees' once sang ' Im a believer' Kind Regards

been workiing on setup4impact and swing speed at home during lockdown. 1st round back (20 over my par (16 hcp)) and really struggled with hooks (always been a big slicer so was interesting to see ball go other way) and topping longer clubs (hybrid/woods) but had a few glorious shots that gave me hope. 2nd round similar but with a few less duff shots (but still lost 6+ balls approx 10 over my par). 3rd round (3 over my par) 4 pars in a row on back 9 and really starting to enjoy hitting those sweet shots. Still plenty of work to do but i've gained yards (7 iron was average 138, now i'd estimate 150yds). big thankyou to Kirk for sharing this system for free. Will look into membership in next few weeks. Love the videos. Been working on this for about a month and definitely getting more solid contact and a straighter, more piercing ball flight. Very exciting! Trying to rid myself of over-rotation of the wrists from my previous swing has been an issue with some hooking of shots even with a weaker grip. Do any of your videos address the stance and proper distance from the ball? Because of the extra 2 inches with straight arms I am standing farther back. Should I just go by the length and lie of the club?

Thank you for your reply Kirk. Appreciated. I live on the eastern seaboard of South Africa so out of range for prospective school attendance. I am also 79 years of age so well into the second none of my golfing life. Still love the game though and play at least once per week. I am not tech savvy and would struggle with techno learning. I also live in a country that is required to manage without electricity for 50% of each day - so very constrained. Do you have your Sevent Step learning programme in a form which will allow me to view on a television screen? If so, cost please. Great program. Regret I did meet you 60 years ago😂😂😂 Regards, Bill

I love this concept and it seems to be making a big difference in my game. 2 questions though,my club seems to be making contact on the toe, and secondly, a lot of shots are going left. Ant ideas on how to correct? Contact is solid but not center hits. Thanks. Love your vids!
@Setup4Impact
@Setup4Impact 2 года назад
Hi Bill, This is a sign of setting up too far from the ball. This causes the toe hits. If the ball was closer to you on the same swing the ball would be hit more toward the heel. Shots to the left are likely due to early release. You have to get the hands leading through impact. That is what my drills will teach you how to do. More info on my programs is at setup4impact.com which organizes the info along with many new drills not found here on RU-vid. Memberships allow you to submit video to me for my review.

So single plane is just the setup being impact? I was helping a friend out yesterday and the only way I could get him to get good contact was to over exaggerate the setup to be at impact then get him to swing and hit. This looks way smoother than what I was getting him to do though lol

Greetings...Hi Kirk, my question may seem a "no brainer" but I'm not sure/don't know enough about the one plane swing. Are the clubs you're using different specs to one's that are standard? If I decided to go this way, do I need my clubs tailored to suit the "one plane swing"? I thank you for any assistance.
@Setup4Impact
@Setup4Impact Год назад
Hi Norman, I use the same specs on my clubs as I did before playing this way which is about 5 degrees upright. As long as you stand the same distance from the ball as before then impact should also be on the same plane as it was. I do recommend standing the same distance from the ball as you are used to when starting out. Just raise the hands and setup on your impact plane.

Absolutely excellent explanation. Thank you Kirk👏👏👏 Two questions: 1) Watching the Memorial it appears to me that more of the top pros are leaning towards 'setting up for impact' than just Bryson - is this observation correct? 2. Are you in favor of supplementing the excellent drills you advocate to learn the swing with motion type exercises. I refer particularly to the latest 'hot aid' the Erikson Bell. Which appears heavily Single Plane oriented? Early days on the journey but enjoyable. Thank you!
@Setup4Impact
@Setup4Impact Год назад
Hi Bill, Yes you certainly see some setting up closer to their impact plane. I also have mostly motion type drills as part of my learning program at setup4impact.com/online/ I find though that swinging a golf club when doing drills is far more beneficial that swinging other objects. In using other objects I think it would only beneficial with a coach’s help and to give a feeling to the golfer that they could translate to a better golf motion. If one learns my drills properly usually with my online, or in school coaching help then they always will have success.

Don't think about technique on the golf course. Make a good practice swing and then repeat with the ball. The course is the wrong place to work on the swing.

@@celtickev1 Moe was awesome and I learned a lot from him. Todd thinks that every golfer needs to swing exactly like Moe did with no variation for grip, stance width, distance from the ball, etc... While working for him I saw how poorly this worked for most people. Simply adapting it to people's existing golf swing meant fast improvement instead of years of struggle. If you are not improving quickly then you are doing something wrong.

The set up with your rear arm bent into the body - is the way you know how far away from you the club needs to be at set up - this works for every club - if you are too far away like Moe you could not do this

Kirk, Your videos are very thought provoking, in a good way. I am a follower of Moe, and Todd, in the last 5-6 years and I agree with your assessment of the issues with that approach. What is your take on club length, swing weight, lie, grip size and shape et al to best use your method/approach? Thanks.
@Setup4Impact
@Setup4Impact 4 года назад
The clubs need to fit the individual swing for impact. There is no way to do an online fitting that works half way decent. The best in the business is currently Club Champion Golf. They use Trackman in their fittings to verify which shaft from hundreds of possibilities works best for your golf swing. You do not test that many though. In looking at the results from the shots like spin, dispersion, height, distance, etc...they can find the best shaft for you. You may try 15 to 20 shafts to get there. You can feel and see which one is the best. From there they use that shaft on every clubhead from every top manufacturer to find out which works best for your swing. Then they find your lie angle needed at impact. Same process with the woods and driver. My subscribers get a 5% discount there if they give my name as their pro referral at signup. For Grips I recommend the JumboMax UltraLite grips. Sizing is on their website. Best to get them installed at the time the clubs are built to make sure the swing weight remains correct for you. If changing over it is good to make sure the swing weight remains the same.
