I'm 57 years old. I have been riding a unicycle off and on since I was 12. I wish I had such a nice video when I was learning. My wife recently picked up a 20" unicycle for me at Goodwill for $20. I'm 6 feet tall. I didn't wait to replace the half broken pedal, or get the right length seat post before I tried it for the first time. I ended up falling when the pedal flopped. My wife asked if I was OK. I told her one of the most valuable things you learn is how to fall.
I learned to ride when I was 12 or 13. We had an old push lawn mower with no engine on it and I just held on to it and pushed it around the yard while riding the unicycle from day 1. It was very easy to learn this way. I am surprised that I have never heard of this method in all my years since. If you are new, try it. I promise you will learn almost without ever falling off the unicycle. Nice video Emily. I just wanted to share.
I was 10 when I first got my unicycle, I found it in a thrift shop and the lady said If i learned how to ride it I would get a discount. So as the eager 10 year old I was I practiced every day for a week until I was able to freemount. I’m 13 now and I have 3 unicycles and I’m famous at a collage and known as the unicycle kid 😆

Great job. I learned to ride when I was 7. I wish I had such a useful video to help me learn. I was just wrecking my parents hallway going along and breaking bones😂

I am exactly 5' and and adult. I bought a 20" to learn. However the seat even on the lowest setting is too high for me and I keep falling off. I can't even go forward. All I have are very badly bruised legs. Can I learn with a 16" wheel?
There are many ways to learn to mount. I learned to mount with an obstacle behind my unicycle when I was quite young. Then, once I could ride, I practiced mounting without an obstacle. Thank you for the tip!
I learned with an obstacle and I was able to free mount only one week after I bought my very first unicycle so I think I can tell it is a very good practice !
