Learning Lake Varner Pt. 1 | The Importance Of A Confidence Bait

In this video, I start out on my 2022 quest to master the closest body of water to where I live; Lake Varner. It's an 850 acre reservoir with a largemouth bass record of over fifteen pounds. My plan this year is to devote a good bit of time to figuring out how to successfully fish this lake during any season.
What seems to always produce for me when all else fails is some sort of solid black soft plastic worm on a finesse rig, usually a shaky head. That's what ended up helping me hook into a fish on two very different weather pattern days. A shaky head worm on the first, and a larger ned rig on the second.
Become a pescadito by subscribing for more fishing content! Or don't, either way. We're fishing all over Georgia and even occasionally other states!

Awesome Caleb!!! Definitely a bonus in learning your local lakes vs traveling hours away. I think we all have those confidence baits that just catch bass for us. That bass look close to 4 pounds. Keep doing what your doing bro

Yeah after editing I’m pretty sure I was underestimating a decent bit, but my biggest fear is becoming that guy who calls every fish a five pounder and getting called out in the comments lol Im okay with getting called out for underestimating weight!

Nice video! I was just talking to someone about that lake the other day. Not much cover and tricky to fish but I’d like to learn that one as well.

It’s been a minute since I’ve made it back out there and unfortunately kind of abandoned this planned series. Hoping to pick it back up soon. I’d say in general though finding structure or humps in the deeper parts would be key this time of year. It gets deep quick and a lot of it is very flat.

Thanks for posting. Do you know if there is a topo map for the lake??

That’s a great question. I feel like there is one I’ve seen before available, possibly even at the local Walmart. I’ll have to check and get back with you.

Sounds like a plan, dude. I was out there Saturday for awhile trying to work some deep diving cranks and didn't have any luck. Shoot me a message on insta and we'll work something out.
