Even though she's smiley, it was difficult for most fans to see her depressed after Jessica's departure. I also find it sad that she lost confidence in singing throughout her career because of producers calling her voice boring and dull so she had to force a "baby" voice. Gee was the first kpop I ever experienced about 4 years ago and she's been my ult since that day. She's the only member without a solo release. She recently talked with BoA and said she never found her solo identify because she was treated as the "MSG of the group". I feel she never got to explore her natural register enough which is a shame because the glimpses we get of it are beautiful. I always need more Sunny! From what I know, Sunny auditioned and got into another company. While she was preparing with her "group" at the time for debut, however, the company basically went bankrupt or something? But they were able to get their trainees transferred to SM and that's how Sunny got into her uncle's company. And the song that noticed in this video (where they're cheerleaders) is called "Oh!", it came out in 2010 (there's also a Japanese version later) before "Run Devil Run". I remember some of the girls ( the youngest member Seohyun particularly) hating "Oh!"'s sweet/cute concept lol.
Yes Sunny is the shortest of her group and then Taeyeon who's only 2CM taller than her. She shares her birthday May 15 with her sisters who are 11 and 15 years her senior. Sunny said it was like having 3 mothers. She also did audition without her uncle's knowledge at the recommendation at another idol. She received lots of hate for their relations when it was revealed. The public gave her so much hate calling her ugly, untalented and that she was riding her uncle's coat. Not knowing that she was the member that trained the longest of all the girls with her years at other agency. It was revealed later that she passed the audition because she fit all the qualifications they were looking for in an idol. Moreover, no one at the company knew of their relations until after she was casted. There are clips of her performances on RU-vid... I've been searching for the full performances but wasn't successful. Sunny is a bright and cheerful person onscreen for her fans and girls. However she carries all the negative and hate the group and herself receives in her heart. She has very low self-esteem regarig her voice because a producer/coach told her that her natural voice is boring. This is one of the reason for her anxiety and why she's denied any solo music career. She's the only member that doesn't have one. During her recent appearance on On&OFF she revealed that her role in her group is that of MSG and she feels like a student who didn't do their vacation homework on the first day of school. She went into a depression in 2014 following Jessica's, injuries, other personal and family issues that almost caused her career. She struggled through it all and still performed during their comebacks concerts. But yet again she received many negative backlash. The public called her lazy, worst dancer, untalented and dragging down the group. They ignored the fact that she had knee injury since her debuted that worsen with age and their busy schedule. She could be seen hopping off stage or needing assistance from staffs following performances but instead of commenting about her professionalism of not missing a show while fighting the pain. She received more and more hate. There's a lot of hurt behind that smile of hers. She also have to live with the fact that people will always see her as SM niece and think she's stuck-up and entitled. So she keeps her personal life and family private. She rarely speaks of her family and even when others have photos of thir family she doesn't. Lots of her peers spoke out about this how they misjudged her knowing her background and relations but Sunny herself is the complete opposite of their speculations. Yes! I love this react 💜 Sunny is such a gem. All of them are so I’m glad you’re going through all of them. She’s more of a variety type, being on a lot of shows when she (and the group) was more active. She recently revealed that she doesn’t have confidence in singing due to people telling her... her ‘normal’ singing voice was boring and that she should sing in a specific way. Probably why she barely has any song outside the group.

That clip where they were at the school was actually when they debuted and the girls did a surprise concert at Sunny's High School. You have to remember she was only 18 at the time and more than half the members, including Hyoyeon, were 17 and younger. She has the most famous lips in KPOP.

Listen man, as a proud Sunshiner since 2011, I've been invested in this woman for years now. I can confirm that there's a clip of a variety show that you'll appreciate where Sunny won 'Best Lips' from a group vote of several girl group members. She has a beautiful smile and a unique voice I love listening to, and if she does become your bias, don't fall into the rabbit hole of Line Distribution videos, you will get really unnecessarily mad at Tiffany. She recently released a couple of OST's as well, entitled 'Collar' and 'Sunshine' which both highlight her 'Ballad' voice and her 'Cute' voice. She's very much a concept chameleon, tuning her voice to the mood of the song. I hope seeing and hearing more of her will endear her to you as much as she is to me~ Enjoy your Soshi journey man!

Sunny had a knee injury early on while doing a variety show and suffered quite a bit. Sunny was always energy Sunny until Jessica left and it hit her very hard along with increased pain in her knee. She is very different from 2014 until just recently she seems back to normal. Once the group stopped she seemed to get some help for the knee and her personality came back. I am so happy and she has a fantastic career in variety. Basically she could do just about anything.

Earlier days when kpop isn't very popular like right now, soshified is the source of snsd fans getting variety show subs and such. Sunny is my original Bias in SNSD. Waaaaaaaaaay back in 2010 when I first heard the Japanese version of Genie, Sunny caught my eye almost immediately. It was only in 2018 when Dreamcatcher dragged me back into K-Pop when Taeyeon's solo stuff got me to fall in love with her. But Sunny always has a place in my heart. She's too adorable to abandon just like that. So I've resigned myself to call Sunny and Taeyeon my co-captains of the SNSD Bias list.
Sunny would have been debuted into another girl group 'sugar' at a different company but people telling her why didn't she auditioned at her uncle's company (SM Ent.) and see how it goes. And Sunny personally auditioned and she's now in GG ❤️ in a recent variety show where Sunny is a guest, BoA asked her why she didn't sing anymore (GG is on hiatus now but other members are active on media due to their movie, musical and solo career), Sunny said she's the only member who haven't debuted as a solo and it becomes a burden because she said that if she's in a group, she's like the MSG. She's fitted into a group sing, but when she sing alone, people kept asking her why her voice is not good as how it should be in a group. Then BoA told her to just go to his uncle and asked him for a solo, but Sunny said her managers and other company staffs should be the first to know and should get a permission first. His name is Kyuhyun, he is one of the main vocalists and is well known for his vocals and for being the "Prince of ballads" (and for being considered one of the best vocalist in Kpop). He is also part of the Super Junior sub-unit called "Super Junior KRY" which is formed by the other two great main vocalists of Super Junior (Ryeowook and Yesung), he is a musical actor and the maknae of SJ. Sunny was originally set to debut with a whole other group in a completely different company but the other girl in her group suddenly disappeared the day before debut without notice. So sunny’s best friend convinced her to audition for SM. Sunny actually never wanted to be in SM because she felt like being the founders niece would make it seem like she was getting special treatment. Apparently her uncle didn’t even know she was selected until debut, since sunny joined the group about a month before into the new world was released.

RE: Fact 6&7 No, Sunny wasn't a military kid. Her dad was actually a failed music exec like her uncle. It was his label that she was originally due to debut under in a hip hop girl group named Sugar. The group never debuted as the company closed. So he wasn't in the military. She was a way refugee and that's why she has that reaction to fireworks and other sudden loud noises. She was traumatised from a young age by bombs. The other members know this so when they perform live, if they know in advance there are going to be explosives, you'll often see her closing her eyes while other members put their hands over her ears.
Something that didn't get mentioned here - and also not in the other SNSD guides you saw: SNSD are 1 of the funniest if not THE funniest girl group in all of K-pop. They're true variety queens in every way (which is 1 of the reasons they were everywhere on Korean TV in their peak years) and Sunny was 1 of SNSD's top comedy entertainers, she's very witty. Other less known facts about Sunny: she's very wise and tactful/considerate with others, and her stage presence was 1 of the best in 2nd generation era. Simply watch her 'Three' and 'Bloom' solo performances (resp. YT id's v=gB9TQ-7TEdk and v=oG42z2aXXpY) and you'll see what I mean.
I remember hearing from some variety show that the blood type thing was a remnant of the Japanese occupation and some twisted logic that was used to justify treating the Korean people as lesser based on the more common blood type of each nation. Blood type fixation isn't really as much of a thing anymore if that show was any indication of the movement to inform the public of such a painful history and to help them unlearn (what is essentially) eugenics propaganda.
