Language Journey started September 2019 this video/class is on 3/30/24
I am a 45-year-old man from Texas who has been learning Spanish for the past 5 years. In this video, I have a conversation in Spanish with Camilo, a 25-year-old from Colombia who is currently living in Spain.
We discuss my experience learning Spanish as an adult while also dealing with dyslexia. Camilo helps correct my Spanish and provides feedback on my pronunciation. We also talk about our careers - I repair dents and dings on cars while Camilo now works in Madrid.
The video gives insight into my language learning journey over the past 5 years. It shows how my Spanish has progressed but I still struggle at times, especially with conjugations. Camilo is very encouraging and helps me feel comfortable practicing. We discuss the cultural differences between Colombia and Spain as well as between different regions of the U.S.
Overall, this video demonstrates that it's never too late to learn a new language, even with additional learning challenges. With dedicated practice over time, meaningful improvements in ability are certainly possible. The friendly, patient conversation is also very motivating for others hoping to better their Spanish skills.
