We’ve all been there Ben. Lessons learned that way (monetarily) are ones that usually stick with you for life. Thanks for having the character to be willing to teach others - turning a negative into a positive. Thankfully you have plenty of equipment where you can reuse that oil. Thanks for bringing us along.
I am glad you spliced in that PSA on checking the manufactures recommendation on fluid type. i just purchased a used international and i am doing a flush as well and i am of the age that gear oil goes into manual transmissions,, lol.
Glad you liked! One more thing just incase, that plug I thought was a check plug on the rear end is actually a temperature sensor port. Fill the oil to the fill plug instead! Thanks for watching!
Good evening Mon Ami 😉👍That differential has a little water contamination ( green and brown color ) it was time to change it for sure 😉👍 Yes prize are getting crazy to much high in need 😤 Great maintenance video mon ami and sure it will be nice that you can use that used oil to burn and heat your garage 😉👍Have a great week end Cheers 👌🍻🍻
Ben. I have a question regarding your spicer rear end on that international. Do you by chance know the spicer rear end model for that ? I been trying to find what model mine is on my international, its the same rear end as yours in the video. If you dont know, could you by chance see if you can find the tag on it and find out? I would appreciate it
Don't feel bad. I wouldn't have thought of a different type of transmission lube for a manual. Sheesh. I guess stuff like that keeps us all humble. I stopped by my Massey dealer and bought oil and fuel filters, two gallons and one quart of 15W-40... they didn't have the hydro filter. It hit me for over $170. I will shop around a little next time. Yes, fuel prices and the artificially-created supply chain issues are getting pretty painful. Congrats on Youngkin. I hope you guys started a new wave for the sake of our own wallets.
I sure hope Youngkin was a step in the right direction, I’ve actually had a lot of people telling me the same thing from all over the country. Probably the most watched Governor race in along time. 7018 Welding Rods have went up 140% since last year. It’s not cheap to run this equipment and properly maintain it. Really appreciate you watching and commenting!
I dont have a vehicle that uses gas or oil anymore, but the groceries have more than doubled on this end as well. Just before covid about 45-50 dollars each trip to groceries. This year it has doubled. Our government went beserk when covid hit and they still are not using commons sense which is a cure for almost everything. Have a great day Ben thanks for the vedio.
I agree common sense is something our government could use more of. All the problems we face right now could be cured fairly easily. Appreciate you watching!
Well done Ben, great maintenance video 👍🏻, one question for you, why is there a PTO on your truck, what would it be used for? I know nothing about those big trucks 🤷🏼♂️🙂. Have a great one 🙂🙋🏼♂️👍🏻
The pto can be used to run a pump for dump beds, this one was used to run a suction pump for vacuuming septic tanks. Appreciate you watching and for asking the question!
@@joeydalia2572 I usually do order my filters from Messick’s but they were about the same price at Abingdon and I didn’t have to pay shipping. They were the friendliest at Abingdon equipment that I’d ever seen that day. I was pleasantly surprised. I just looked online Walmart in Abingdon, Bristol and Kingsport shows having it. All other local location are out of stock on Rotella T4.
@@khtractors yeah I think they may have started getting word there attitude sucks and it’s running business off. I just happened to see the Rotella at the fuel station the other day when I was getting fuel. I personally don’t use it because I don’t like the way it smells, I use RKs 5/40 in everything I have.
I honestly don’t know. I usually just skip them myself once I can 😆! Appreciate you caring enough to ask that though! Thanks for watching and commenting, that’s what matters the most.
Yes just add oil until it runs out the fill plug. This is the first differential I’d seen with a check plug and fill plug. My red International only has the one plug. Appreciate you watching!
Hey I’ve got an international 4700 1995 with the spicer 5 speed mated to a t444e an my rear end looks similar to yours. I’m having a hard time finding out what weight gear oil to put in the rear diff. What weight did you go with? An where can I find a service manual for this transmission? I’ve got a rear seal leak an I can’t find much info through the dealership around here about this truck.
I used 85/90 in the differential and ended up changing the transmission to a 50w manual transmission oil. Don’t use that one plug in the rear end as a check plug, it’s actually a port for a temperature sensor.
I’m not sure exactly. Probably around 4 in the differential and maybe 3 to 3.5 in the transmission. Just pumping it out of the bucket it was hard to judge the amount.
I used Traveller gear oil. I found out later on the transmission that spicer calls for I believe it was a SAE50 manual transmission oil. It was expensive but shifts much better. Thanks
Everything up here is high too. Going to get worse they say. All the climate change BS is upping the prices here. I'm always learning new things and I like when I do. A quart of oil up here would cost you about 3.99 Canadian a few years back ..... now 8.99 ( I like using Castrol myself) Everything is gone to the dogs here. Take care
I definitely think the government is driving up oil prices to push their climate change agenda. Dad use to use Castrol also in most things. I like the Rotella for the Diesel engines. Appreciate you watching!
