Hakuna Matata i have been stretching for 3 months now and i am almost touching the ground (i was not flexible as a child nor before by any means) you got thisss
Camilla Lourenço yup! Don’t even know how she’s doing it with toes down it looks so painful. In dance we were always taught feet flexed in middle split.
Hi I’m a dancer and have been doing the splits for more than half my life and the most crucial thing I learned in the beginning was “toes and knees HAS to be facing UP to the ceiling” (like you did the last time when you got the full split! Good job :D) that’s the only way you’ll prevent injury!! And don’t lean to the sides even though it makes it easier because you’ll only end up hurting yourself. Other than that it’s just a lot of stretching and pulling the muscles as much as you can! Find different ways to stretch, laying your stomach down on the floor while in the splits, sitting against a wall and ask someone to push your back or use a stretching-band! Good luck!
Well your toes and knees should match the way your body is leaning to, somif you are om tje ground, toes and knees shouldnt be pointing to the ceiling otherwisenit is a a different stretch
Clara Oswald Well yeah I see what you mean but the leaning forward (with the entire body) method I think you’re referring to is not that good of a stretch.. it’s better to think of it as going straight down from a standing position when you’re a beginner! But as long as the knees doesn’t hurt it shouldn’t be a problem! Be careful when easing in to the stretch and out of!
congrats like me I'm also an ex-dancer and qualified ISTD teacher and I still split and teach dancers to stretch to split plenty of methods on how to get the split on my channel and you're all welcome to have a look
I got my middle splits in 3 months but still I had a lot of pain while doing it and now it's been 8 months of my stretching n I can do middle splits easily.. So guys if u r a beginner, keep practicing n don't give up.. cause u never know what u r capable of... Love you all..
@@glda19 I did some stretch from Anna Mcnaulty and Alivia d Andrea tutorials.. When I first Started it pained so much so I had to take break for one day then again I started the next day... And if u feel frustrated it's ok.. it's completely fine... Just take a day break and start again the next day...
@Sweetest Strawberry Hey, actually I started practicing stretching last year when I was 20 years old and I m now 21. So I started two months before my 21st birthday.. I think age doesn't matter, for me it is not.. So if you want to do it, u can do it n don't give up.. hope this help u💜💜
Everyday and hold for 1 whole minute. With your knees and tops of feet up, toes pointed for best form. Try doing each side as well. (Right side in front, and left side in front.) For a total of 3 minutes. Once you have that advance to turning from one side to the center to the other side. You'll feel so good and the stretches feel amazing! Congrats to you both! Good work. It's amazing!! (I did the floor work in gymnastics for 12 years. You both are inspirational!)
Honestly I couldn’t do this in the gym, when I was getting my front splits the faces I pulled were hilarious...at times it was the only thing that kept me happy doing them because I would ignore the pain by laughing at my pain face 😂
She is so realisitic like she is actually telling that splits take long enough while the other utubers are fooling us that we can do split in 1 min...Ur progress is awesome gurll and finally when u learnt to do split completely it was so flawless..Much love❤
Thank you for your supportive comment. :) Everyone's journey time is different. Some get there quick and some it takes longer, overall the message behind this story is to not give up and keep going.
If your knees r hurting that means your hyperextending, try ur best to relax yourself muscle in the middles. You can see how tense she was which can cause the knee pain, I’m not saying that’s always the case but that was the case for me so try ur best to relax ur face muscles, release the tension in ur shoulders, and last but not least try not to flex ur knee so hard while in the middles and focus on breathing (:
It might have that your fastia around the knees is very tight:from the sides, knee capsule and from the top. Common, if you haven't stretch yourself long time or not at all. Or if you overuse your legs. You need to do dynamic stretches like plies.
my friend hasn't done the splits in a few years and was confident that she couldn't again until she retrained herself...turns out after a bit of stretching she could do it just fine lol. therefore I'm convinced that once u splits you rip something and that something stays ripped for the rest of ur life 🤣
Same thing happened to me. I stopped dancing and stretching like 3/4 years ago and lost my middle splits. I literally started stretching again a week ago and yesterday I was able to go down all the way again. Ofc it hurts and before it didn't but that was pretty much faster than I expected, lol 😂
Yes, oh my god these comments really motivated me because I can't commit to a time period as long as 8 months. I have been dancing since I was 5 and I used to my middle splits and side splits easily and was able to switch between them as well. But then I got an groin injury and it was all down hill from there. For about 2 years I haven't even attempted to do a straddle much less a split, but now with quarantine and everything I have decided to get my splits again. I hope to get it within a month or so. Because I feel like I can do it. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌 Wish me luck!
anyone can do the splits, you only need motivation and commitment ,there are a lot of videos that show you stretches for you to do every day. If you commit to it i promise you can do it.
practice at least 4x per week if you can! To begin try holding for 30 secs in the position then gradually increase the time unto 3mins minutes over time and when you feel ready to do so :)
if you're feeling lazy and don't have the energy to warm up, then yes you can lie in a warm bath and stretch afterwards but not a shower your entire legs will need to be submerged underneath the warm water for them to get warm, I used to do this before I went to dancing school years ago and It worked, but there are many effective ways to warm up the vital areas to prepare for the split, I have tutorials on my channel with different methods depending on how flexible you are.
Congratulations, hard work pays off! Just a tip for everyone learning the splits - heel needs to be on the floor and toes facing up like you're sitting normally - otherwise you're going to hurt your knees. For those that can do the splits you can turn your feet front towards the floor and lean forwards, it's going to stretch your inner thighs too. But don't do it if you're not down yet!
This inspired me alot. I'm the only one in my dance classes who can't do the splits and I've been trying and practising all my life it just hasn't happened.. Hopefully I will get my splits soon. Good job 🎉
Hey I'm trying to learn the middle splits as well. You mentioned your knees were in pain. I always experience that pain, even before my thighs stretch. Did you do anything to relief the pain? Congratulations on your splits!
Hannah Banana make sure you are warmed up before you stretch then stretch slowly. Small stretches Do left and right splits first with slow gentle progression and using your breathing to sink into them (I am a yoga instructor and at 40 can still do all the splits and have taught many dancers to get the splits). Good luck
Please be careful advising people who are experiencing joint pain unless you are a certified instructor/physician. It's also best to do 4/5 minutes of light exercise before stretching to help warm up muscles and lessen the risk of injury. Well done on your splits progress though
Oh my goodness someone with that same knee prang! Did it eventually go away as you got more flexible? Also congrats on all of your hard work and achievement!!!
She’s stretching wrong , will cause permanent ligament damage, pushing your weight on knees turned in is stupid. You have to turn your hips out . Watch a professional ballet Dancers stretch video. 90% of the videos I’ve seen on here are using awful and dangerous technique. It’s not all the same as long as you get there, you might end up at same place but have permanent injuries ...
@@TheAlsdkf Thanks for the information! I actually figured out that the pain is coming from medial hamstrings and the pes anserine muscle group mixed in with some hip tightness. Was putting awful pressure on the pes bursa. So I'll need to loosen all of that up. But yes this way of stretching probably isn't great for anyones knees o:
Wow so cool, now I know what I can Do AT home during the corona time :) I love how you made it. Awesome. That makes me hope I can reach a Split aswell :)
She didn't do 180 degrees at the end. It was more of a straddle. But still no need to be mean about it. And she's not a dancer so she really doesn't have to point her toes
Loved loved loved this video! The editing was everything, so relatable. I'm currently one month in trying to get the middle split and boy is it frustrating, feels like I'm making no progress, but watching this video really inspires me to continue fighting! It takes time, but it's not impossible
Thank you Sara, happy to hear that you enjoyed the video from all aspects and most importantly that it has inspired you to keep going. I understand this comment was post some time ago so would love to hear whether you pursued and achieved your goal.
This isn’t a middle split, it’s a straddle. Your hips have to be square to the ground to be in a center split. 💁🏼♀️ she needs to have her torso parallel to the floor and her legs in a straight line from toe to toe. Coming from a competitive dancer of 8 years and a competitive pole dancer of 6 years.
Actually you're wrong, there are two versions of middle split. The triangle split and the straight line split. Not everyone can achieve the straight line split, not everyone can achieve the triangle split because of hip deformities, limitations etc. there is no wrong middle split if you are doing one of these versions. It doesn't have to be a straight line to be a split. A slight angle is still the splits.
Girl I'm 3:47 in and this whole time I'm thinking.... You have to turn your knees to the ceiling or you will injure your knees.. I hope you get it by the end of this
For all of those wanting to "get the splits", please, please, please understand that most people do not have the structure (i.e. bones) to do full splits with legs straight out to the side. If you're in this category (and you likely are), after you eventually work out your muscle tension all you will be doing is damage to the hip joint. Think labrum tear, stress fractures, etc. Take it from the old school yogis that are all getting hip replacements these days...it's not worth it.
It took me mid March to the end of June to get my middle splits So that’s like 4 months I stretched intensely everyday for hours Shortly after that I got my right spits followed by my left splits (I did full body stretching) Then I broke my shoulder and couldn’t stretch for 6 weeks During that time I lost my splits but I quickly got them back All I have left is a tiny bit of my left splits and I’d be back to how I was before
Hey congrats on the splits!! How is it now for you to go into full middle splits after achieving it? Is it getting easier and with less pain? I'm working on my splits since Jan 2019 making mini progress, but still 😁 - also uploaded a 5min challenge split vid for fun, but it was more pain then fun like your journey 😀
Yeah it's amazing that finally I can do it!! I did stop for a a couple or so months then I remembered how much I went through to be able to do it and got myself back into doing it 3x a week 😄 and congratulations!! Keep going! You will get there
I LOOOOOVED your journey and i totally got inspired by it and by you. I can feel your pain, because i'm going throught the same but i'm trying to do it in 153 days, so wish me luck! I'm also recording pieces of my suffering everyday, LOL. Great video and keep sttreching everyday. PLEASE!!
haha good luck!! and keep going. just make sure your practicing at least 4x per week every week and check out stretch routines to help with your progress. You'll get there!
I'm watching this like go go Jade like she sis she can't hear you I was so happy when she hit the floor the music in the background made it feel like I was watching tv sports❤❤❤
I don't think that it takes 8 months to get your middle splits if we do it the every other day and did you stretch every day before doing it bcuz I think stretching is very important 😀
I got my middle splits in 1 month. I pushed past my limits that is why i got my middle splits in 1 month. Anything you want you can get it, if you really want it.
Front splits are so much easier than stratal splits. I have been a ballet dancer all my life and have never achieved perfect stratal splits. Bravo!! This is awesome!!
I was a dancer for a very long time and I could never do those splits! I could do normal on both legs but never stratal. She definitely chose the worst ones to get but I’m super impressed she did it
Hats off to your dedication and consistency.... I have been practicing splits for 14 days but I was bit discouraged since I was not able to see any results. This video really inspired me to continue and also realised good things do take time. Thank you ma'am. Keep up the great work.
Just have to keep going! some people get there quickly others take longer.. the journey is yours! don't be discouraged my time... just think of the moment for when you will touch the floor and how happy you will be.. like I in this video.. haha
Congrats. You put my eyes wet. This is my dream and I'm working on it. But if you took 8 months, I'm afraid I'll take much longer because you were closer than me. I wish I could go faster. :(
I'm sure you will be quicker if you practice alot.. I was 3 months longer then I should of been because I was ill and then never practiced for a month in the middle.
I'm trying splits since 6 months i got soo disappointed that i left doing for 15 day in row and somehow i motivated myself started again now it's like going from start!! It really hurts!! But dude u are inspiration u made me realize to have patience things take time but don't leave in half a way!! I don't know how I'm gonna do splits but this is what i want now badly!!
